I heard on the radio this morning, that life in this case means 12 years FFS, and it means that he could be out in 6 years.

There should be some sort of national protest about sentencing for these sort of crimes. No matter how we feel or think, there will never be the reintroduction of capital punishment in this country, Its just not possible under European law. But the sentences must fit the crime.

Nixz · 11/01/2006 10:41

im sorry this is going to sound stupid, even inconsiderate, i dunno...does this mean the man actually penetrated the baby properly? Is this possible? i actually thought that the abuse would have been something else, dunno what. God i cant believe im asking this

tiredemma · 11/01/2006 10:48

cori, i read in the paper this morning that the PHEONIX SURVIVORS GROUP ( who support rape victims) are going to lodge an appeal to the Attoney General to get the sentence increased.

tiredemma · 11/01/2006 10:50

nixz, i think new acts were brought in last year that specified that rape does not necessarily have to involve penetrative sex. either way its still horrific whatever those sick bastards did to her.

Nixz · 11/01/2006 10:51

Yeah and after their sentence is up they will be givien new identities etc etc etc

Nixz · 11/01/2006 10:52

Oh my god, i just dont get it. They will obviously show no remorse either, or else why do it again.

tiredemma · 11/01/2006 10:55

i would imagine that after all off the press reports today on it, that both the man and thing passing itself for a woman will be spending most of their time locked up having their heads smashed in on a regular basis.

women locked up away from their children dont really favour any kind of child abusers so i imagine that woman is getting every thing she deserves now.

MrsWood · 11/01/2006 12:00

just seen their big mugs in the daily mirror - beasts! How do human beings do such awful things? Don't some people have any feelings in them? To see this poor baby suffering, and still carrying on raping her is beyond me... And at the same time the woman is feeding the baby milk - it's beyond belief! It's as if we're giving birth to hybreeds in society or something... This is something out of a bad horror film. Surely no person can be born like this. This was someone's son, someone's daughter who did this - I wonder what this woman's mother thinks of her daughter's actions?

MrsWood · 11/01/2006 12:04

That girl that was raped and murdered in Thailand - if those 2 are convicted - they're getting lethal injection!!! Why can't we have punishments like this for such young and innocent victims? Prison is too good. I know their death would be an easy way out for them, but I'm sure the mother would appreciate their deaths and not worry about them being released under "good behaviour" or whatever. Look at Jamie Bulger's killers - one of them is a father now! A father! And his girlfriend doesn't even know who he is - he's protected by the very same law that promised Bulgers' parents they'd be paying for their crimes... Law sucks!

I drove past the house the Padedophiles in the Cardiff case were housed in yesterday, it's a ten minute walk from here. What froze my heart was the family-looking home next door. It was up fpr sale, but no-one is going to buy it are they? Youc an't not know what's next door, police cars and tape everywhere. Can you imagine living through the fear? Knowing what they are housing next door? And not being able yo geta way because everyone else knows, too?

There are so many victims in a case like this, apart from the victim and close family. Neighbours, extended families, friendship groups, estates (I'm certainly double locking my door when I'm in with the boys now), even the famillies of the offenders (my only argument against the death penalty in these cases- creates mroe victims. If my brother does this it'd be bad enough knowing that, the constant flashbacks of his death that I would endure when i'd done nothing wrong myself- unfair). Now, hard labour I have no issues with!

What was it that woman in the baby rape case got? 5 years , iirc? Rubbish, totally unacceptable.

MrsWood · 11/01/2006 12:19

yes, 5 years. he got minimum 12 - complete rubbish.

How would you notice though, it wouldnt cross your mind would it. unless there was bleeding or something. Maybe she did notice, maybe it was reported to a health visitor but who would ever connect two such things, most peoples minds just dont work that way when there are tiny babies involved

MrsWood · 11/01/2006 14:01

didn't someone say such "scars" look like nappy rash? Maybe she just used nappy rash cream thinking that's what it was - many babies get that and I for one would never think anything more if that's what it appeared to be...

MrsWood · 11/01/2006 14:36

yeah, i think she would surely bleed - no matter what was used to rape her...
my dh and i still can't work out how he would... ahem... enter the little girl - is that possible on a child that age? or even in the case of that little 3 year old girl? I'm only asking as I (obviously) know what "first time" is like for a grown woman, let alone a little toddler, or a baby...
Sorry if this has been asked before - haven't read all posts.

Nixz · 11/01/2006 14:53

mrswood - thats what im thinking but someone mentioned earlier that rape is not nesessarily penetration by the man.
I dont understand it fully and to be honest, i prefer it that way, the details i have read are far too detailed iyswim.
I would never have thought it possible and i wish i had never read it but part of me is glad i have become aware of it and other situations like it so i am aware of what some people are capable of, that way i feel i can protect my own a little better - iyswim

tiredemma · 11/01/2006 14:57

rape isnt just penetrative sex anymore mrs wood, it covers any kind of forced sexual activity.

kittyfish · 11/01/2006 14:58

It is a horrible, incomprehensible thing to do to such a tiny and vulnerable person. Don't shoot me down, but I am sure I would be suspicious on the 'evidence' discussed here. Bad nappy rash (bad enough to be mistaken for herpes fgs) doesn't just appear suddenly. And I am sure there would be changes in the little mites behaviour, like the social worker (forget name) mentioned earlier in this thread about another case. The thought of this happening to my own daughter makes my blood run cold.

kittyfish · 11/01/2006 15:07

And he had a photo album with pics of them and, sorry I can't write any more.

MrsWood · 11/01/2006 15:07

The thing is, they get off lightly in this country. The law is so crap and so full of loopholes that as far as they're concerned, it's worth doing the crime! Law should really be tough on child crimes - no getting off, no parole, nothing - life in solitary! No visits, nothing, ziltch! Let them live like scum that they are.

MrsBigD · 11/01/2006 15:12

have to add here...

my dd used to get terrible nappy rash when she was little. At one stage it got so bad that she'd even get open sores and it looked really vile covering her whole vaginal area and bottom (sorry for the graphics).

I took her to the doctor and dd was diagnosed with a fungal and viral infection and prescribed some ointment.

DD being minded by a childminder and her extended family at the time and I am positive they didn't do anything to her. Saying that does one really know nowadays seeing what's in the news! Then again dd loved going there and the doc didn't mention that she was suspicious of anything regarding the rash.

So if the poor little mite's mum just thought it was bad rash... this is possible! Especially if first baby... I know I was hopelessly uninformed with dd and I was 30+

millie34 · 11/01/2006 15:15

no doubt he will only serve half of his prison sentence and the woman and they'll be out so so called rehabillitated. within 1 yr he will re offend. this county is a soft touch always has been. it protects paedophiles. never mind the victim and their families.

MrsBigD · 11/01/2006 15:16

well at lease we know what they look like, so if and when they get out ... accidents do happen...

kittyfish · 11/01/2006 15:17

MrsbigD - my daughter had bad nappy rash when only a couple of weeks old so I know what you mean, but I would have thought it would be very localised to the vaginal area and appear suddenly if abuse of this level were happening? God I so don't want to think about this anymore but I also feel I have to so I know what to look for. So many sickos out there now.
