Lowri Turner

HERE

Another tirade from a working mum to SAHM. Why can't we all just accept that we are doing what we believe to be the best for our children? Why this copnstant need to put the other down?!!!!

People on high horses have further to fall!

saadia · 01/12/2005 22:45

I think she's being deliberately provocative and wants readers to get riled. Her views are complete nonsense and totally intolerant. If SAHMs want to crochet/bake or whatever, what business is it of hers. And her self-importance pompousness about how SHE is always so busy and is never early to pick up the kids. Such hostility suggests to me that she is quite insecure.

milward · 01/12/2005 23:07

what rubbish from L.T.

funny she should write the bit about the cafe - I would love this.

Stilltrue · 01/12/2005 23:30

Ridiculous bitter little woman. Only the Mail would publish such utter sh*.
Since I'm a sad sahm, I dimly recall seeing her and her family in "Hello", but then they became another set of its "victims" in that she dumped her husband (he was "boring" or something). That's why she's single. Didn't know there was another man in the offing.

(Takes up megaphone)
RUN MATE, RUN!!

IntergalacticTheRedNosedWalrus · 02/12/2005 03:42

I have added a comment, and I started it with the word "parp". Silly old trout. I can't stand Lowri Turner.

pinotgrigio · 02/12/2005 05:25

It was blatantly obvious that they all hated her on that home DIY show she did.

ENIDeepMidwinter · 02/12/2005 08:51

I worked with a photographer once who said the weird thing about her is that she truly, honestly thinks she is gorgeous.

wessexgirl · 02/12/2005 13:44

Stupid woman. Quite apart from the fact that almost every single point she has made is weighted down with cliches and stereotypes, how does she know what SAHMs do or talk about if she rarely talks to them?

I would never dream of giving any mother a hard time about whether they chose to work or not unless it was very blatantly bad for their children, but in her case I'd make an exception.

Hmmm, contributing to the growth and development of two human beings or presenting 'Would Like to Meet'....which would I find more intellectually stimulating, I wonder....?

bossykate · 02/12/2005 13:46

ladies, don't rise to it. it is complete hackery, not serious journalism.

weesaidie · 02/12/2005 14:53

What a load of s*e!

I commented - I hope nobody is taking this rampant vindictive generalisation seriously? Honestly, I know all sorts of mothers (I am a student single mum myself) and smugness does not come from staying at home. It comes from thinking you are better than others - LOWRI TURNER - while at the same time being pathetically insecure - LOWRI TURNER!

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 02/12/2005 14:55

They do this every now and then to drum up a bit of publicity for the paper. They know loads of people will be shocked and outraged, so they get lots of furious letters back, people are talking about it, and the editor is very happy!

weesaidie · 02/12/2005 14:55

Aye well there are 166 comments so far so it has worked! Grrrr, taken in by the Daily Mail!

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 02/12/2005 14:56

It's the only way they get people reading their paper!

teeavee · 02/12/2005 15:02

exactly Cliff - that's why I said everyone was over-reacting!
don't let them win!

Anchovy · 02/12/2005 15:04

I have a full time job. Sometimes I take DS to school. Sometimes when I take DS to school I pick up a coffee on my way to the station and drink it. Another myth exploded - shall I contact the Daily Mail.

bEATieDRINKandbeMERRY · 02/12/2005 15:17

When I worked I had plenty of time to make chocolate krispie cakes. Now I don't work in yet I'm the mother who grabs a biro and scribbles DD1's name onto the label of a new coat just as we are leaving for Pre-school. You just cannot make generalisations. Yawn, ywan, ywan.

Wintersun · 02/12/2005 17:03

Ugh! That woman!
Can't stand her.
I saw her on The Wright Show when I was SAHM and putting my feet up watching daytime tv, like we all do, and she reminded me of an annoying little weasal.

Mercy · 03/12/2005 17:26

Did you know Lowri T has a twin sister??

Nightynight · 03/12/2005 18:28

well it was hardly an unbiased article, but like all stereotypes it did have some truth in it.

Id love to be a SAHM if I didnt have to earn a living. And I must admit that some SAHMs have got right up my nose in the past, waffling on about quilting and home made quiche and other essentials. So I can see where Lowri is coming from. On the other hand, that article is not a particularly witty or convincing way to make the point, but hey, the woman's got bills to pay, and the DM was apparently offering money for any old tripe.

ImdreadinganAUTIExmas · 03/12/2005 20:06

yawn

I suppose writing that article counted as work- and she says SAHMs brains are mush

thecattleareALOHing · 03/12/2005 20:10

I love the idea of quilting and home made food - though I am pretty crap at that sort of thing. Some of my favourite people are into stuff like that. It actually doesn't annoy me at all. Just bought a fabulous hand-knitted hat for dd from one of the mums at ds's nursery.

ImdreadinganAUTIExmas · 03/12/2005 20:13

Agree- wishI could do that sort of stuff. My bf makes great hats - my kids have several. Always used to be envious of her as a kid as she was so much better than me

AChristmasCarolinamoon · 03/12/2005 20:42

mercy, she's apparently one of triplets - but only two of them (one of whom is Lowri) are identical.

I remember reading an interview with her identical sister, who's a lawyer, in some legal journal and she sounded just as far up her own (smaller) ar$e as Lowri is.

Eaney · 03/12/2005 20:45

Someone has really rattled her cage I guess.

mads1 · 03/12/2005 21:02

How dare she!!! I know that I am not a SAHM with a brain like mush etc etc etc...
I don't feel guilty for being at home and I respect mums that want to or need to work.

I have loads that I wouldmlike to say but i am really too mad.

Lowri - get on with your life and stop feeling jealous!!!
