Another tirade from a working mum to SAHM. Why can't we all just accept that we are doing what we believe to be the best for our children? Why this copnstant need to put the other down?!!!!

Drivel.

NomDePlumPudding · 01/12/2005 14:36

"Calling yourself a Stay At Home Mum is not a reason to feel superior; it is an excuse to have a very nice time, thank you. "

A little bitter are we Lowri ?!

Sensationalist nonsense.

walkinginawinterBundleland · 01/12/2005 14:36

daily mail, hardly expect any better.

compo · 01/12/2005 14:37

"Have you ever spent an hour with a group of Stay At Home Mums? If they're not discussing how to get their children into the best schools, they are comparing nappy prices - cheaper at Asda, apparently - or leafing through the Boden catalogue." pmsl - she forgot hours spent on mUmsnet!!

merrymarchhare · 01/12/2005 14:39

She needs a good shag.

WigWamBahhumbug · 01/12/2005 14:39

I got as far as reading that all SAHMs are thick and have brains as soft as spaghetti and couldn't read any more.

PARP PARP PARPETTY PARP

NomDePlumPudding · 01/12/2005 14:40

And BTW, she isn't a single parent as she loves to bandy around, she is very close to getting married for the second time.

Caligyulea · 01/12/2005 14:41

What a yawn

muddythewaters · 01/12/2005 14:42

I have very little time for most of the SAHMs at my children's school, as I don't just want to talk about children.

MyXmasPuddingSixpenceworth · 01/12/2005 14:43

Who the F*CK does she think she is?!!!!

It is bang out of order to be so bitchy and to look down on people just cos they made a different choice. So staying at home full time is not for her, fair enough, but to say if you are a full time mum your brain is mush and you are not as capable as a working mum is just plain rude!

We are ALL working mums! You can't be a mum and NOT be working bloody hard whether you also work outside the home or not!

If you want/need to be a working mum, be one, if you want/need to be a sahm, be one, everyone should do what's right for them but there is NEVER any need to put other people down for making a different choice. Rude bloody cow.

Atomicstockinghanger · 01/12/2005 14:44

How dare she! Thats all I can say. Don't have anything against working mums personally. I think live and let live - each to their own and all that.

Atomicstockinghanger · 01/12/2005 14:44

I feel a need to email Ms Turner my views...

compo · 01/12/2005 14:45

You can put your responses on the end of the article - go for it! So far there are 49!!

Caligyulea · 01/12/2005 14:45

If you bothered to get to know them mtw, you might find they talk about other things once they know you.

Talking about children in a school situation is an obvious ice breaker, ffs.

Just as talking about Lenin at a Communist rally is an ice breaker. Doesn't mean to say that people who talk about Lenin in a certain situation can't talk about anything else.

melissasmummy · 01/12/2005 14:45

MyXmasPuddingSixpenceworth, my sentiments exactly!

OP posts:
Roobietherednosedreindeer · 01/12/2005 14:46

Oh dear - I honestly thought she was more intelligent than this. The article is full of contradictions as well - one minute she calls them smug SAHMs who swan around going to the gym and lunching out and then at the end she is labelling them depressed daytime TV addicts!

WigWamBahhumbug · 01/12/2005 14:49

Muddythewaters, you could well be missing out - most SAHMs spend so much time with their children that they are the last thing they want to discuss. Pardon my being rude but your post is a lazy and frankly unintelligent generalisation.

blueshoes · 01/12/2005 14:49

Just Dailymail blowing stereotypes out of proportion to push a few papers? They seem to like drawing their battlelines.

muddythewaters · 01/12/2005 14:51

Caligyulea, I do not need to break the ice, I have known these women for a while, and socialise with them from time to time. However I have recently begun to realise that they are pretty dull. One of them hinted as much to me recently as she's desperate to get back into the career she had before her children were born.

HaveYourselfAKnottyLittleXmas · 01/12/2005 14:51

Parrrrp. With jingle bells on.

MyXmasPuddingSixpenceworth · 01/12/2005 14:52

caligyula - what does the abbreviation mtw mean?

MyXmasPuddingSixpenceworth · 01/12/2005 14:53

forget that - realised its someones name not like the old lol, or iyswim etc!!!!!

MelissasSecretSanta · 01/12/2005 14:53

MyXmasPuddingSixpenceworth, think it's muddythewaters

Atomicstockinghanger · 01/12/2005 14:57

I can't do it! I can't send my views because a) it would be an article in itself and b)writing it is making me more angry!

Lowri Turner - self righteous cow!
