It looks like a very big explosion, one fatality reported so far. May be terrorism but bbc saying that is speculation.

Some semi-automatics fire a round a second. In a crowded campsite with no cover and filled with panicking people running, it's perfectly possible.

just horrific and stupid. This is how stupid right wing extremists are, killing their 'own' people in the name of christianity and anti-muslim feeling! The English Defence League were really quick to leap in and claim this was muslim extremists, as were many media outlets.

The police have just said it will have taken half an hour to get the armed police over to the island as they were all in Oslo which is understandable.

This is so awful. I just turned the news on and saw how much bigger the death toll has got overnight.

Apparently, some tried to lie still among the dead, hoping they'd be missed. But he went around the ones lying down systematically and shot them in the back of the head with a shotgun. Others barricaded themselves into cabins but he shot through the doors. Yet more tried to swim for it and he shot them in the water. They're still looking for people in the sea.
