Explosion in Oslo

It looks like a very big explosion, one fatality reported so far. May be terrorism but bbc saying that is speculation.

Just says centre of Oslo. Government buildings and tabloid newspaper offices effected.

If the gunman is connected to the car bomb then it may be some kind of 'Hungerford' rampage situation rather than terrorism. Dreadful either way.

Last week anti terrorism charges were filed against an Iraqi born cleric who issued death threats to polititians who are trying to deport him. That's the whisper on the grapevine here.

I'm in Sweden, within weekly commuting distance of Oslo. Most of my neighbours are Norwegian. The Swedish primeminister told us all that today we are all Norwegians. Everyone is on high alert. My husband works in a nuclear facility close to the border, I might get more info when he gets in.

The pm was meant to speak at that camp oybbk, there are twitter reports of kids swimming off the island and hiding in bushes :(

Luckily it's national holiday there otherwise the Oslo bomb would have been much much worse-it's like blowing up Whitehall.

Gunman reported Nordic in appearance so goodness know what the motive is
