If the payments were so large that they required the CEO of NC (that is JM's position isn't it?) to sign the cheques/authorise the bank transfers then he would have also seen the backing documentation and had a full explanation as to what they were. The agreement with their bankers will specify that payments over £x have to be authorised by the CEO, the fact that it is the CEO signature needed and how much x is would have been set by NC, not the bank as a means of preventing fraud. So clearly if these payments were big enough to require his signature then they were out of the ordinary compared to routine payments and he should have queried why. If he allowed 'minions' to hide things from him he should be sacked for incompetence.

mrsdonkeybucket · 19/07/2011 16:35

Yes but sums like that are chicken-shit to them, londonone

As you have pointed out in other issues. Smile

frillyflower · 19/07/2011 16:35

Don't be embarrassed Londonone. Spelling maybe isn't your strong suit. It doesn't always mean a lack of education.

Don't let it distract you from expressing slavish devotion for all things Murdochian.

londonone · 19/07/2011 16:35

tomwatson - a man who has never, as far as I can see, done any sort of a real job.

LisMcA · 19/07/2011 16:35

YY Nancy pointless, do some of these MPs even know why they are there?

mrsdonkeybucket · 19/07/2011 16:36

Claire

claig · 19/07/2011 16:37

Some of the questioning is very poor.
We've seen some good MPs and some Labour MPs.
Aprart from teh excellent Tom Watson.

mrsdonkeybucket · 19/07/2011 16:37

When has any MP done a 'proper job' ? Grin

UmYeahLikeTotally · 19/07/2011 16:38

I don't see how he can sign off a payment for 1m without looking.

I'm the assistant to a CEO of another VERY large company, and I'm telling you now that there is NO WAY that a payment of that amount would go under the radar. 10k, 50k, even 100k maybe. But not 1m.

Even in a corporation of that size, 1m is a huge amount of money! And if he says he signed it without even looking, he is either lying his face off or really really fecking stupid and shouldn't have been given the responsibility of the job.

chipstick10 · 19/07/2011 16:38

Its getting a bit boring now. Want to see the flame haired temptress.

Ponders · 19/07/2011 16:38

\link{http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/blog/2011/jul/19/phone-hacking-rupert-murdoch-rebekah-brooks-mps?INTCMP=SRCH\Guardian phone-hacking blog} for mrsdb

(I can make more sense of it that way than wading through the actual Qs & As Blush

NoseyNooNoo · 19/07/2011 16:38

Nancy66 - you are not alone (but don't tell anyone!)

londonone · 19/07/2011 16:39

Yes mrsdb - that was the point I was making.

Frilly - I am not sure why you are attempting to make personal insults do feel free to stick to the point! If you want to get into an education pissing contest I suggest this probably isn't the thread but my spelling is fine thanks! My keyboard on the other hand is fucked!

claig · 19/07/2011 16:39

Alan Keen. Now I know why I don't vote Labour.

mrsdonkeybucket · 19/07/2011 16:39

Thank you, Ponders

HedleyLamarr · 19/07/2011 16:40

Damn. Forgot to add Smile and Wink

whats4teamum · 19/07/2011 16:40

Oddly I find myself agreeing with NormanTebbit on p.2 of this thread. The jacket and blouse don't go together. Looks like she's had to have a rummage through a charity shop in a hurry.

He's slapping the table again!

LisMcA · 19/07/2011 16:40

MrsDB, my old maths teacher was an MP, is that a proper job? Granted he isn;t one now, maybe thats why!!

frillyflower · 19/07/2011 16:40

This MP is absolutey dreadful though. Making me cringe.

londonone · 19/07/2011 16:41

The MPs are so weak, the HA Select Committee was much better.

ClaireDeLoon · 19/07/2011 16:42

"Editor in Chief of Guardian Newspapers Alan Rusbridger tweets: James M : I was 'surprised and shocked' we were paying Mulcaire's fees Doesn't read the Guardian then"

Snigger.

londonone · 19/07/2011 16:42

Sheridan was the worst. Ranting buffoon

mrsdonkeybucket · 19/07/2011 16:42

Yes, teaching would be classed as a 'proper job' !

Did used to be a vocation, though. Wink
