Can I just pick you up on this point - "half the committee are Trade Unionists". There are 5 Conservative MPs, 1 Lib Dem and 4 Labour MPs. Last time I looked, Conservatives weren't too hot on Trade Unionism but I may be wrong.

Can you also explain what you mean by TU being reknowned for paying legal fees, and what relevance it has to the hearing?

londonone - well think about it - If the company is so flaky with regards to the law - if I was carrying out a risk assessment as a HMRC employee I would put them pretty high on the list. Also the payment made can be followed through to the people who have received them surely and then ensure tax was declared. Also would be interested to know the VAT position.
