Hi all I am just posting this in order to keep Joannes name in the public domain- This case is very mysterious and so far the police have no real leads although her parents suspect she has been abducted!

The link is below-

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1341106/Distraught-parents-Jo-Yeates-plead-help-finding-missing-architect-daughter.html

Hopefully someone has the information needed to bring Joanna hope safe and well- her parents are distraught!

Expat - They're getting a bit better at handing out whole life tariffs for these crimes since such murderers tend to kill more then once.

How very sad. So the post mortem is today ? And sorry to sound ignorant, but do the parents confirm her identity pre or post mortem ?
I mean when will they know ? And when will we know if it is her ?

How very sad. Was watching the news with ds1 on Christams day, with ds1 when it came on that the body had been found.
It is only natural to assume it is her.
How very sad.

CaveMum · 26/12/2010 11:32

If they didn't think it was her they would not have announced the discovery in connection with the case. The post mortem will both confirm her identity and try to establish a cause of death. Without wanting to be goulish it is possible that the body is not in a fit state for a member of her family to identify her. In which case they will have to use dental records or even a DNA test to confirm wh

CaveMum · 26/12/2010 11:34

Darn iPhone! Sorry, posted that too soon.

I was saying the tests will be used to confirm who the body is.

ABudafulSightWereHappyTonight · 26/12/2010 11:36

So tragic.

violethill · 26/12/2010 11:42

Police have now confirmed that it is her body

tomorrowsanotherday · 26/12/2010 12:02

So so sad Sad
My heart goes out to her family and I pray that the evil person who did this is caught quickly

Poor, poor family.

The formal identification has yet to be carried out. This might be, as posted above, because a visual NOK identification would be impossible. It might also be simply because they do not wish to wash and present her to the family until after the post mortem as they will be checking so carefully for evidence. Other options for establishing identity short of the usual formalities would include distinguishing features (tattoos, scars, birthmarks) or comparing fingerprints to those found on her personal articles in her flat.

wannaBe · 26/12/2010 12:18

So sad.

Her parents seemed to be sure she was dead, at least they know for certain.

I cant imagine how unbearable it must be for a loved one to go missing and to never know what happened.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 26/12/2010 12:19

Tragic, but hope it's a one off otherwise the alternative being that there's a random killer in Bristol.

It's just a matter of time before they are appealing to the public for help as there are CCTV cameras on the routes to Failand (suspension bridge, Hotwells/Cumberland Basin, road to Abbots Leigh and Weston)

CaveMum · 26/12/2010 13:00

Having just spoken to my BiL's girlfriend it turns out that not only do they live 5 mins from Joanna Yeats' flat but that her body has been found not far from the stables where BiL's GF keeps her horse.

Statistically speaking, she is most likely to have been killed by someone she knew. Stranger murders are very rare and there does not appear to be any evidence of a struggle in or around her flat.

FlightoftheCrimbleTree · 26/12/2010 13:28

I hate watching the appeals. Ever since the case of that little girl who was hidden by her family, I can't help seeing it through the eyes of a psychologist, trying to look for signs the people are lying etc.

It's a horrible feeling. I just hope that they find out who did it and why.

I keep thinking she disappeared on the Friday night but actually it could have been any time between then and Sunday night. Maybe someone who knew her boyfriend wasn't around.

How awful Sad

santagotstuckuptheCHIMCHARney · 26/12/2010 13:30

Is it possible that she went for a late night walk, not properly dressed,a bit tipsy, got lost and died of hypothermia? Somehow that would seem not as bad as spending her last hours terrified :-(

What a nightmare.

I wish her family the strength to keep going.

FlightoftheCrimbleTree · 26/12/2010 14:09

I know someone in Bristol and I don't for a moment think he is the sort to go around murdering people...but how would you know?

I cannot begin to imagine how her family feel, her parents looked absolutely broken when they made the appeal.

I don't know if this is going to sound odd but reading through this thread, and seeing the comments on prurient speculation, it occurred to me that if, God forbid, any of my family should disappear in mysterious circumstances, the thought that there are people out there who care enough to spend time thinking about that family member would be oddly comforting.

FlightoftheCrimbleTree · 26/12/2010 14:11

Tooposh, that would seem preferable somehow wouldn't it.

You know, perhaps undiagnosed epilepsy or something, anything but murder. Poor, poor girl.

FlightoftheCrimbleTree · 26/12/2010 14:12

Shandy, I agree. As long as it isn't too morbid or beyond the bounds of decency.

People DO care about her. It's very hard to know what to say.

AuntBessieIsComingForXmas · 26/12/2010 14:16

I know this is clutching at straws but didn't it say in the News that she had been suffering from headaches? Maybe (as flight said) she did have an undiagnosed problem that somehow contributed to her disappearing?

The thought of her being murdered is simply too much for me (god knows how her family/friends are dealing with it)

MummieHunnie · 26/12/2010 14:21

I heard the body was fully clothed, too posh.
