I haven't led a blameless life. Pre-children I indulged in a few 'chemical experiments.' But since having the boys, the thought of being unable to cope with them being taken to hospital in the middle of the night doesn't work for me. I've had a fair few nights on the vino, but I've always had a sober Mr Bubble around to drive and deal with things if required.

If this is true, I don't know how she can do it.

I'm sure her nanny or her ex could deal with things, but getting a call when you're out of your mind would be a no-no for me.

Or am I being a sanctimonious cow? Is the nanny or her ex the equivalent of my sober Mr Bubble?

More bad news for Kate in today's Sunday papers. News of the World front page (and multiple inside pages) is all about her drink and drug habit, how it causes her to be uninhibited sexually, and how then she often indulges in lesbian sex. All kinds of stories of sex/orgies with the usual suspects - Sadie Frost, a Hollyoaks actress, etc and threesomes with Sadie and a "jealous" Jude. More sordid tales of drug binges with Naomi Campbell where together the hoover up a pile of cocaine the size of a fist, etc, etc. Evidently she draws the line at doing drugs in front of her daughter, but has had huge rows with boyfriend Pete Doherty who does do drugs in front of the child justifying it by saying she's too young to understand what's happening.

I know it's the News of the World, but if even 20% of what they write is true, it's depraved and sordid behaviour.

snafu · 18/09/2005 09:29

Wahey! - I'm off to buy the NotW today then (with my Observer, of course...)

wartybosoms · 18/09/2005 09:37

So will you all be boycotting Rimmel, Dior et al?

And where's Social Services, seems like you can have your kids taken off you if you haven't got 3 ALevels but if you snort coke your deemed fit

puff · 18/09/2005 09:45

Yes, I will be boycotting them. Very unimpressed by these companies crap, wishy washy response to this. If she's worth £30m, it's hardly going to put her on the streets if she loses the work. I haven't got an ounce of sympathy for the stupid cow.

Earlybird · 18/09/2005 09:52

I don't use the products she endorses anyway. However, I do think she should suffer some consequences as it's probably the only thing that will "shock" her into being a reasonable mum to her dd.

puff · 18/09/2005 09:52

They haven't taken a proper stand against Kate because so many of their fingers are covered in white powder. The whole think makes me want to vomit.

snafu · 18/09/2005 10:09

God yes, I certainly shan't be buying any Prada this weekend.

Before I had kids I always assumed I'd continue having spliffs and 'getting out of it' with the aid of other the other recreationals now and again in the pursuit of hedonism.

The truth is, I just never do it now. (Get completely out of it I mean.) It has totally lost its appeal. It wemt off like a switch when I was pregnant.

Sad but true.

suzywong · 18/09/2005 10:46

i've just read the coverage of this story, or rather how it effects KM's marketability, and she seems to have apologised and taken it seriously.

highlander · 18/09/2005 15:39

I think she's a sad, self-indulgent cow.

I have never, ever said this about another mother - but she's a terrible mum. I hate that me, me, me attitude. What on earth is her poor daughter up to when Ms Moss is out partying for days on end?

Grrr

Bet SS don't get involved though....

bosscat · 18/09/2005 16:12

I hated the pictures of her with her daughter. It always looked to me like she was an accessory dressed in her designer clothes being carried by 'beautiful Kate'. Can't believe she's not being prosecuted. Why not? Does the more money you have mean its not in the public interest?

expatinscotland · 18/09/2005 16:21

If she were some ordinary person Social Services would be at her door and her kid would be on the at-risk register. Let's see, Mum used coke and her boyfriend is a known junkie. That's a no-brainer there.

Hope she gets dumped from Chanel and Rimmel.

Yeah, what a great example for the 'face' of those products - a druggie.

doormat · 18/09/2005 16:27

Fio2 · 18/09/2005 16:37

ok

teeavee · 18/09/2005 16:45

Ian Dury's son, in a recent interview, said he was totally surrounded by coke and other hard-drugs wthrough his childhood, and was even babysat by a heroin addict on occasion, but said it's just meant that he doesn't attach any glamour to it and is not at all interested these days.

not that I think it's ok or anything, but calling her ugly, a cow, etc, is a bit on the vicious side, possibly...?

teeavee · 18/09/2005 16:46

I know I myslef insinuated that she was thick as sh*t, but I would hate her to become the next Paula Yates too.....

doormat · 18/09/2005 16:51

teavee not mean 2 be vicious but imo she is ugly there are plenty of better looking young girls out there (not a lesbos)who would love to have the opportunities she has and by that i dont mean the scrawny pete d

Fio2 · 18/09/2005 16:54

i wonder why they are both famous, have either if them any talent

apart from anything going on in this discussion?

snafu · 18/09/2005 16:58

I think KM is fabulous as a model - love her. Have you seen the cover of Vogue this month? - she's beautiful there.

But as a person - yeesh. She appears to be a snarky bitch who's believed her own publicity for way too long. And as a mother? Not even going there...

wartybosoms · 18/09/2005 17:25

Did they manage to airbrush the big grey bags under her eyes? And put a bit of meat on her bones?
