the last man out in the Phoenix is apparently the first man that got in it at the start of the rescue operation >

MaMoTTaT · 14/10/2010 04:27

yes he said that the bloke must have wondered if he colleagues up there had any practical jokes planned for him LOL

MaMoTTaT · 14/10/2010 04:29

haha - did you hear them all making "wooooo" (ghost) sounds around the shaft entrance PMSL

MaMoTTaT · 14/10/2010 04:33

It IS Finished

Last rescue worker out safely.

What an incredible story

MaMoTTaT · 14/10/2010 04:35

And now I must sleep, the boys will be up in 2 and a bit hours, I have to blitz my house for the rent assistance inspection, and a whole host of other stuff that should have been done today (yesterday).

GColdtimer · 14/10/2010 04:37

Blimey, you lot can chat. Grin. Just switched on as dd2 woke me up. Loving the looks on all their faces.

MaMoTTaT · 14/10/2010 04:38

well twofalls - mostly in the last few hours it's been me talking to myself Blush

Meglet · 14/10/2010 04:55

Just checking in to see how it went. DS just had a tantrum which ended in a time out so both the DC's are awake and grumpy.

Glad its all finished now.

Bucharest · 14/10/2010 06:39

Got up to see it's all ended...great news, will catch up on thread after school run.

Well done MaMottaT to keep going for so long! Hope you're having some zzzzs now!

Italian tv started me blubbing again, showing juxtaposed images from the football match which was suspended because of hooligan shite and the scenes at the mine, and saying simply - "this is what humans are capable of.....and this is what humans are capable of..".Well, I know which brand of humans I think should be given airtime....

roundthebend4 · 14/10/2010 06:48

i napped for couple of hes but then woke to catch the last 3 comming up tired but well worth it

JustKeepSwimming · 14/10/2010 06:49

I missed the end too, just been catching up on BBC & on MN :)

Hope they all recover now and get to go home soon.

PS is there any news on whether anyone will go back down to 'tidy up'?
Also, no-one ever mentioned...toilets. What did they do about that?

Katyathegringa · 14/10/2010 07:22

i had to go to sleep last night 'cause i got up so early to watch the start of the rescue - I woke up with a sense of dread, imagining turning the TV on to bad news..... needn't have! BLOODY FANTASTIC!!!! Am now v v v happy :)

anonymousbird · 14/10/2010 08:34

Has Tim Willcox been to sleep at any point in the last 24 hours plus? At one point yesterday, he said, I'm taking a break. He meant a loo break, not a sleep break, he was back on within about 15 minutes!!!!

bramblebooks · 14/10/2010 09:08

Can we all join hands and sing a song now? El presidente could dance a samba in the middle and shake his maracas.

MaMoTTaT · 14/10/2010 09:15

can I have a coffee, and nicotine at very least before you start the partying??

I'm knackered, slept in, no thanks to DS3 who came and snuggled next to me early hours of the morning......recipe for disaster being snuggle up next to a warm, cuddly 3yr old when you're already tired. Thankfully DS1 and 2 off to school in time (just) and DS3 only 1/2hr late to nursery (I'm usually 10-15 minutes late getting him there anyhow).

mamadiva · 14/10/2010 09:43

I watched this last night right to the end but did'nt have the computer on as I was'nt sure anyone else would watch LOL.

I shed a happy tear when the last miner came out, just amazing what people can do when they actually care enough to try!

Loved the rescuers sign :o

Everyone above and underground involved is a true inspiration to us, if they can cope with 69 days trapped wondering whether they are going to die then we can learn to be a bit more patient in our daily lives!!!

Moving on... I was on the other thread but in the first 17 pages or so hav ejust read what I missed and LOL at most of it! Agree about a lot of the miners being rather dishy but DO NOT agree with the thing about El Presidente! Then again Larry Lamb lookalikes don't do it for me :o

Glad others were thinking the Chileans seem to be a handsome bunch I thought I was being rather insensitive so did'nt say anything haha.

May they all have a happy future with their loved ones and hope this does not affect them too much!

Cheers (with OJ obviously :o)

Habbibu · 14/10/2010 09:45

Hellfire. You'd think one of the benefits of a non-sleeping child would be being woken at appropriate times, wouldn't you? And it's not like he slept any more than usual - just woke at the Wrong Time.

Anyway, huzzah. And all hail engineers. And rescue planners.

Anyone know where there's video of the rescuers coming up?

yy to that - it's like the Apollo 13 rescue - so many lives saved by engineers.

MaMoTTaT · 14/10/2010 09:55

ooo I don't know Habbibu - I watched it live, so haven't looked for video of the rescuers.

EvaLongoria · 14/10/2010 10:00

So I watched the last miners and then logged off, kept telly on and watched first 3 rescuers coming up but then DD woke up and snuggled next to us and wanted to watch the "daddies" coming out as well. (What I told her she is almost 3). I then had to switch the telly off.

Woke up at 8am and she starts pre-school at 8:30. Gave breakfast, got dressed without shower and rushed out. So not feeling to well as I did not have breakfast and I am 17 weeks pregnant and known to faint. Then realised that in my hurry I closed the door and locked myself out. So this is since 8:30. Just managed to get in after friend took me halfway to DH's work to get his key. Had breakfast and now catching up. But need to get ready for college until 8pm. Anyone wishes to swap my morning or day

MaMoTTaT · 14/10/2010 10:00

apparently the driller left the scene and flew back to America quietly bascially saying - I did my job. , it seems that all of the organisations and companies involved have done so without making it a huge advertising mission for themselves. OF course they'll have known that by helping out that they'd be talked about but none of them appear to have made it a marketers paradise by doing so. No big "oh and look what WE did to help" type things iykwim.

It's all been so dignified

Habbibu · 14/10/2010 10:03

ok - for anyone else who missed bits, there's also video on CNN.
