Mission and this weeks zone.

I hope all are well. I have ds at nursery all day today, so am going to clean, clean, and clean some more!

Done
Wheelie bins
Kitchen surfaces
mop floors
dishwasher
w/m
make bed.

Still to do
bedroom, including todays mission
Tidy kids rooms
hoover
prep tonights tea
girls to drs after school (bloody verrucas will be celebrating their own birthdays soon!)

No personal messages, sorry, but will add that I too have the sock problem. DDS and dp all have black socks, which are is a box in my room for the lucky dip until I spend an evening sorting them.
If they put both socks in the washing basket at the same time there would be some chance of them getting paired up, but when I dry them there are always 10 or so different black socks left over.....

dyls Hi!

oh...excited ! have just received my Peter and Jane reading books I ordered for dd3. Anyone remember these??? They are SO good. Such a clear progression of new key words to learn. Really clear straight forward text - on seperate page to picture.Has new words listed at bottom of each page and at back.Brilliant books.Just shows...sometimes progress is over rated!

I just know these are going to be so much better for DD3 than the random mixture of books she brings home from school. They are just going to work better for all her little Asperger's issues LOL
And...yes I know it's all meant to be phonics these days, but it just isnt working for dd3, and ds never did phonics as such, and is an avid reader and has a reading age of 16+ LOL

is it sad that I'm quite excited about this?!I'm just so despearte for dd tolearn to read....just a shame I have had to foot the bill for them ...still I've long since given up hope of school teaching her to read LOL

ok...back to kitchen cleaning LOL

swanriver · 24/05/2010 15:57

I remember P & J OFM

tbh never quite understood the phonic basis of Chip and Biff as it started with impossible words like "the" which weren't even phonic! And "made" and "was". If you didn't get past them you were done for.

dd only learnt to read properly at 7. The boys were brilliant. I think it made her v defensive, but on the other hand she is not a natural bookworm. I suppose I have to accept that she much prefers being read to, and talking!

All sticky and sweaty here, school tarmac oven like, just about survived Handel, think we are going swimming if I can get everyone back out of house again. I am feeling v. relaxed today? What is wrong?

Supper is pasta, supper dh pasta, tomato and aubergine/chilli.

Oh dear, knew I'd forgotten something, the communion book search Manana.
and sweep path.

MickyLee · 24/05/2010 18:16

OFM those books are great.. i remember them fro when i was learning to read. How old is your DD? I will be responsible for teach my DC english as we live in turkey including reading so might have to invest in peter and jill too.

My friend popped over before and stayed for dinner.. had the slow cooker on with enough food cooked in there for an army so perfect when unexpected guests arrive plus all jobs finished uncluding home blessing hour so i really did appear the perfect housewife

Bbl with tomorrows list xx

ruby wow great find with dresses, I want some maxi dresses!

OFM I love those books!

I spent the day gardening and playing with dd. The only thing off my list I did today was the washing, and remaking the beds. Tomorrow I will clean while dd is in nursery and ds is in school. I am planning a 30 min room rescue in each room and tackling the ironing.

Makingchanges · 24/05/2010 21:41

Evening all. Really jealous of all you guys who got to the park today.

OFM the books sound great. I'm sure she can only benefit from them.
Ruby dresses sound great
Swan glad you are feeling relaxed
Dyls I'm sure the kids loved the attention and I'm envious of you guys who garden, I wouldn't know where to start.

Mixed day here. I woke with a tummy bug so didn't get to the gym as I normally do on a Monday. Was hoping to go this evening if tummy had settled but got a phone call to tell me that DD had fallen down at nursery and had been sick. Went to pick her up and she has been stuck to me ever since, its just took me 1.5 hours to get her pyjamas on and she is now sat up in bed trying to get to sleep (apparently it hurts her leg to lay down) [Hmm] You really would think she'd had her leg amputated the fuss she has made. I do think however she was sick cos she got herself so worked up (She makes a bad patient) but not sure if nursery will take her tomorrow, even though she hasn't got a bug anyway cos of DD not even letting my go to the loo without having a tantrum the jobs I have done today have been:-

Done

  • Washing and hung out to dry
  • Sign language notes
  • Uni prep work
  • Ring re student loan and retrieving my mariage cert - they have had it 11 weeks and say it is going to be another month
  • shopping
  • Write up book review

Hopefully with be back tomorrow with a better DD

Hello everyone Sorry no time to really read the thread today.
Feeling a little sad & yukky! Got boss pointed out mistakes in my work yesturday whaich were valued
DH told me off for not going walking with DS on Saturdays (that why we stopped Gymnastics) and told me off for not getting him to bed on time last night.
Just phone the bank for my balance and I have a few pennies left in there BUT I was only paid on Thursday Taking a cut in hours has not worked
Back in a mo with the list I promise to cheer up by the time I come back!

swanriver · 25/05/2010 09:26

Nutty - dh was telling me to keep the children UP last night
sorry about balance, perhaps it will take a while to adjust outgoings etc, but you'll do it, meanwhile new job is good isn't it?

had a lovely day yesterday, all told, and holiday mood continues this morning, dcs sitting round white tablecloth having breakfast, and dh wandering around in garden examinining his turf neurotically Cat popped his head over bath to say hello to me as well.

Off to work now.
ML Turkey - Istanbul? Ankara? or seaside any lovely turkish slowcooker recipes? We have lots of turkish ingredients in our local shops, I'm not quite sure how to put them together though.

Nuttybear · 25/05/2010 09:46

swan yes, your right, no more lattes and more packed lunches No, job is good boss very good as he waited until noone was in the office to point out my mistakes and he was nice but.... I will try harder.

Morning all nutty - there were an awful lot of sad faces in that post. I hope you are feeling better today. I have the same problem with money. I've had to open my summer holiday spending money tin this week to buy food

Ruby I hope you knee is ok today. But did smile as when I was reading back I will admit i registered nice dresses above bad knee, too. Sorry.

dylsmum I will be using your list today, but I only have 15 mins per room!

I also have to pick up prescriptions from the chemist, and buy a new electric socket to go in the kitchen. The one which was there shorted out a few times last week and was smoking last night, so needs doing urgently!!
Off to get started...

Am here using up the last of minutes for doing ds's room, a very impressed with his room I only spent 15 mins in there and that included moving furniture to sort extension lead for him. must remember to praise him about it after school. I also managed the living room in less than 30 mins so spent the extra cleaning the hall and hoovering the stairs.

house is looking much better, but kitchen could do with another 30 mins if I can fit it in today, if not will do it tomorrow.

Shannaratiger · 25/05/2010 12:05

I'm back very quickly, dusted everything instead of clearing the mountain in the corner of our bedroom , was more urgent and satisfying.
Auyway quick hello to dylsmum, jas, swanriver, overflowingmum , scattyspice, and anyone else who I've forgotten sorry the clock has beaten me and my brain has given out and I can't spell anything. Time to go and get ds.
Bye

swanriver · 25/05/2010 13:12

Work done found some project books too, and had general rant with friend about projects and how impossible they are for eight year olds to do without serious parental imput [lazy parents that we are

now - clear up dead snails etc
track down lost communion books
wash potatoes for supper
tidy dcs rooms

Nutty flasks here we go... My Hexham friend used to say her holiday fund was the result of never ever having cappucino breaks.
I am partial to cafes myself. I think TM idea of envelopes for different funds is a very good one.
If you have kitchen redone in your house with extensionwork, be warned that it is cheaper to buy a small temporary hob/oven thingy than exst on takeaways, been there, done it.

Shannara hello, hope you are enjoying summer so far.
