ok....hectic day
feeling grumpy

took dd to party, not bad actually, quite decent entertainer for a change
then ended up taking older 3 dc shopping for various items....shopping centre packed...but got what we needed,
also booked cheap tickets for Princess and frog for girls on Tues

got back from shopping to find ds2 on top of dd1's (high) bunk bed, covered in chocolate,DD4 crying and dd3 in bathroom crying, with an orange face, dining room table (and floor and walls and laptop etc) covered in paint......
not hugely impressed,Dh picked up on vibes of disgruntlement...assured me he had everything under controland told me he had done lots of cleaning and that house was significantly cleaner that iut was this morning
Why does he always do this? Spend hours on some totally inconsequential cleaning task and embark upon major task with dc at the same time thus allowing total chaos to descend.....

anyway...have removed the (non-face)paint from dd3 face, calmed dd4,and removed ds2 to a place of safety(ie on sofa watching cbeebies for 10 mins LOL)

Now need to take deep breath and chill and avoid arguing with dh

still haveno dinnerfor meand dh...was hoping to get the M&S meal deal...but was sold out of any of the options I wanted....
think I need a glass of wine....sigh...

BBL folks

OFM I came home this afternoon to find dh in TEARS over his flatpack experience (something to do with too few P9s) He has vowed never to put together another piece of furniture, EVER. Children slightly chastened by being in house with mad handyman all day.
Poor you, though I suspect they probably had fun with the paint and had only just got bored of being orange/chocolate covered.

Nice day on the whole though (for me)
lunch out with dcs/dh, short walk in rain
Done
desk finished for ds1 by dh
started getting teeth into dts project/involving library trip and photos/architectural pointers
wrote notes for it
shopped
party errands
bolognese
cleaned kitchen before bed
hoovered ds bedroom of polysterene
I load of washing
more clothes to recycling
Dr Who
lots of walking (me)

notdone ironing reading piano Dylsmum I don't know either Hope you found a promising film. I watched Stardust on TV last night, did enjoy it

dylsmum1998 · 30/05/2010 02:21

OFM hope you have chilled a bit by now. Sounds choatic when you arrived home, but judging by friends with partners its an annoying man trait

Swan didn't go to the cinema in the end. My friend who was coming is not feeling well. So as another friend had also invited me out tonight I went to the pub with them instead. Just got home having had a good giggle with the girls and feeling good about the fact i won't have a hangover when the children arrive home tomorrow as I only drank coke

gonna go get some sleep now as I still haven't done the ironing and i really should do that in the morning

OverflowingMum · 30/05/2010 11:49

Hi everyone.. you all sound as busy as ever.
wolf how is married life going so far? I am sure you are both sooo lovey dovey
OFM I think you should be proud.. you always manage to fit in DC's reading and home ed and on top of that planning to go to work.
swan I hope you have recovered form your stressful saturday

I had a lovely time away.. quite tired though being away from home with 2 DC on my own.
The wedding was fab.. but absolutely the most disorganised wedding ever. The venue wasn't set up so all the girlfriends of the bride ran there to set up with 2 hours to go while i tried my best to keep all my friends DC safe and happy. They arrived back with half an hour to all get ready including the bride!!!! But very happy to say all was perfect at the last second.
Very tired today as drove back through the night! house a tip now and loads of washing to do but thats for tomorrow

dylsmum1998 · 30/05/2010 17:13

afternoon all

OFM good luck with the interview

Micky glad you had a good time at wedding.

Have been pottering about today

done;
washed car- first time ever
hoovered car
hoovered through downstairs
washed floors
s&S'd
load washer
unload washer
load washer
iron
sort dry washing
strip ds bed
taken ds to aunties house as he is staying over tonight
made a cake- in oven now
made more cheesy whirls

Also had a good chat and giggle with ds auntie and her neighbour, reminding them what they got up to last night very amusing

while I wait for dd to come home I am contemplating cutting out another dress to make, thought i might make a couple and put them in an online store of some sort. I have found one on a site called etsy, it appears to be american but with lotws of british sellers, so will have a look at how that works and see if there is an English version

swanriver · 30/05/2010 17:29

OFM we managed to get to church this morning, partly because dcs were terribly confused and thought it was Saturday choir slot (which they love
all went well, dh went to work trade fair un til 2pm

felt very badtempered at mess and squabblesome children on return/trying to put lunch on table etc whilst getting dcs to write reversible No Entry/Welcome notices to their bedrooms

I do find I am in a continual state of mild tension, which can't be good.
Anyway went for very long walk with ds2 to take local history photos and get some printed for his project, and that was a great pickmeup.

On my return found Dh had planted a large miniature lilac for me which had been hanging around for years in a pot rather disconsolately. Garden looking better by the day

Beautiful blowy afternoon, now feeling much more relaxed despite muddle and mess.
So many clean clothes to put away, and kitchen still a horror zone.
Tea will be boiled eggs, mayo, ham, bread and butter and salad, blueberries and apricot fruit salad.

ML run[a]way bride LOL
Dyls I haven't been drunk for aaages, I don't miss it (is that very sad of me?)
Wolf what book did you read? Can you recommend any new ones?

scattyspice · 30/05/2010 17:43

Hi all. Hope you're surviving the BH weekend

OFM and swan and anyone else with problematic husbands, you have my sympathy. My dh is equally problematic, I actually think he may be mildly depressed . But hey, we love them (someone has to) .

Went to see fantastic DR Who exhibition at centre for life - Newcastle yesterday. DS was in his element (dd less so lol). Been to swimming baths today (to think we were swimming in the North Sea last Sun - sigh). Fingers crossed for warmer weather through the week.

No flying done except laundry

Wolfcub · 30/05/2010 18:01

swan I read a book called dwarves by Marcus Heitz. It was pretty good but fantasy so not everyone's cuppa. I don't think I've read any none fantasy books since christmas except for The Street Lawyer as I am plowing my way through a 13 book fantasy epic.

micky thank you for asking, married life not much different to before to be honest. Glad wedding went okay in the end, I think if I'd been that bride I may well have been tearing my hair out

dyls would love to see your handiwork, can you post a piccy?

scatty how long is the DR who exhibit on for?

scattyspice · 30/05/2010 18:14

Until August

dylsmum1998 · 30/05/2010 21:13

Wolf i have just added piccys to my blog here
glad your wedding went well

Swan at dh planting your plant for you

Scatty we can hope for some nice weather this week

swanriver · 30/05/2010 21:17

I spoke too soon
dh now driving me to drink with pot banging and telling me that I'm spending too long on preparing research material for twins' projects. Has he ever tried looking on internet with two children simultaneously screaming in your ear?

I am seriously grumpy now and have gone to bed.

oh no Scatty yes love is the only answer, but not too much, I find that keeps them on their toes so to speak...I hope ds1 does not find out about Dr Who exhibit.
more swimming tomorrow, also think I may be summoned again to clean my mother's house for tenants - she is a whirlwind in pensioner's clothing

swanriver · 30/05/2010 22:57

that's a lovely picture of you Dyls too!
I started some patchwork in hols - I love arranging the little patches in strange geometric shapes. I save it for hols though, at my mum's in Eire, perfect task for doing little by little in front of tv. I used all dd's and mine tatty torn summer dresses as raw materials so it will be sort of like a memory box too.
