Amazing cake Plum. You are so clever, and must have a very steady hand.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 12/06/2010 08:05

ALice - I'll buy it (whenever it comes out).

Plum - top marks for cake. This is putting the bar quite high for DS's 4th birthday cake! Luckily I think he will be happy with a MASSIVE chocolate cake with his name on, and I think I can manage that.

DD is now mobile. She is sort of crawling and can get to toys she wants and cross the lounge floor. I have to keep the front door closed and the stair gate on now. She was up at 6am after what seemed like 2 hourly feeds in the night. Am on the brink of shoving her in the spare room.

Yesterday I made Nigellas choc, banana and walnut cupcakes and some totally gorgeous carrot cup cakes with cream cheese frosting for fund raising coffee morning (actually may keep some of those back as they are totally gorgeous).

The lads are going climbing today and we are 'supposed' to be having a picnic although it looks freezing outside.

The smell is like really smelly socks nasty

JustKeepSwimming · 12/06/2010 10:36

Alice - don't over do it! Could it be damp somewhere? we have a wall in the kitchen that's damp as the downpipe came off outside during a heavy rainstorm and gushed all over the wall, think it's drying out now. And i've taped up the downpipe so hope it won't happen again.

Very slow start here today, boys played in their room for hours, DS1 tried to get himself dressed - trousers on backwards, no pants (can't reach those!) and a shirt on but with one button done up behind his neck! v funny.

I have done nothing since my last post

Think the smell is the sofa throws (maybe something spilt on them. DD's milk perhaps?)

DD has no interest in dressing herself at all. I bet your ds looked funny

minimammoth · 12/06/2010 14:06

Amused by your DS1 dressing himsef JKS.
I am still dealing with Carpet moth. turned the bedroom upsidedown and discovered moth has chewed my best and only persian rug. GRR. Its a wonder I wasn't woken up at night with the sounds of munching. Came home from town with WMD. Powder for carpets which has to be done every time you hoover. Will have to do all the rooms. Well it shows that the Spring Clean Rule about shifting everythng to clean behind is useful. As have not done this enough, feel like a proper slattern.

JustKeepSwimming · 12/06/2010 18:13

He was very pleased with himself!!

Mini- i def don't move things/check behind things enough, only when precious toys get thrown behind then i have to rescue them

JKS and all slatterns. Get moving that furniture and hoover, these beasties are eating our hard earned furnishings. In fact if it wasn't for the spiders we would probably be in a worst state! I think some parts of the country are more prone. Never had these probs in Yorkshire, probably too cold!! God bless Yorkshire

JustKeepSwimming · 12/06/2010 19:50

Mini - where are you now?
and what do they even look like?

minimammoth · 13/06/2010 08:35

I am in herefordshire. Signs are the occasional moth fluttering about v, small brown ones not the ones that go for the light. and little cocoons the size of a grain of rice. we found these on the carpet near the edges of furniture and walls and bizzarely attached to the ceiling, in darker corners. Yuk! the grubs that do the damage are so tiny you dont really see them, only the holes where they have been.

Alicetheinvisible · 13/06/2010 08:44

Yuk. Luckily we have floorboards round most of the house (being the slattern that i am ) I went to college in Hereford.

So tired

We are up, i am dressed and i have got the first lot of bedsheets on to wash.

Need to bath this grubby toddler though.......

wastingaway · 13/06/2010 10:03

Hello! Having fun on holiday.

Well done on the loss Ali, that's brill. How easy are you finding it?

I love the magazine idea. How about a blog? Could be done from the comfort of the sofa, no worrying about finding a printer etc.

Freaky, hope you're having a nice holiday. Yes, the Cs are rellies, it's my maiden name.

I'm worried about the creepy crawlies now. I've managed to find the ant killing traps thingies I've been looking for in Porthmadog Wilkinsons though.

I've been forgetting my vitamins and everything else I'm supposed to do without my lists though, so I may write a short one each day for the rest of the week.

Bye!

How about a FB group?

rowingboat · 13/06/2010 11:07

Can I join in?
Desperately need to give myself a kick up the behind to do more than the bare minimum.
I love the thread title.
We are currently in a terrible state as DP has moved furniture out of bedroom into the sitting room in order to put up new bed. This was last week and now the furniture won't fit back in the bedroom.
DP is a chronic hoarder and has had an implosion at the thought of getting rid of one or more of his thousands of books (mainly unread or untouched for a year or so)

To do today

porridge done

take vitamins

get dressed

Strip big bed - when hungover DP gets up, so could be much later

Washing up

hang towels somewhere (depending on the weather)

Phone brother to arrange meeting up for lunch

put a load of washing in for tonight (White meter)

Go for run

water containers in garden

bathroom once over

lunch

Finish sewing DS's tops

Think about dinner, get something out of freezer (better do that now then)

well that's a start.
I keep seeing moffs flying around with very full-up tummies. Very annoying, I'm sure I will discover their handiwork soon.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 13/06/2010 12:09

Morning everyone Had a lovely day yesterday, it's was FIL's birthday so we were all at SIL's for the day.
I totally blew my diet, I ate sausages in buns, chocolate cake and drank a bottle of wine. And then we had chinese for dinner all of us in front of the football and I consumed my own bodyweight in prawn crackers. Got home at about half ten and we were all in bed and fast asleep by 11. I had a lie in until 10am this morning
Back on the diet today - sausage and bacon for brunch.

Wasting - day to day it's really easy, we just don't have any bread or cake or anything in the house. When it is hard is when you're with other people and there are forbidden things around. V.hard to say no!

Hi all,
Hi Alibaba I agree about not having cakes and things in the house, it helps enormously. Especially if you aren't one of those people who can have one square of chocolate a day.
I'm trying to reduce my portion size and just be a bit more aware of what I am eating. Otherwise I scoff and don't remember and then scoff more.
It's raining here.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 13/06/2010 13:15

Hi all,
Alibaba yes my DP did the Atkins once and it was so hard for him. I remember going for a pub meal and he had to have a bit of steak and nothing else on the menu.
Are you doing it for a set period then starting to incorporate carbohydrates, or does it quite suit you to limit carbs?
Is that kind of diet quite expensive?
