Fledgling Flyers - Mad as March Hares

MiniMarmite · 26/02/2010 20:07

Welcome to the spring(ish) edition of the fledgling flyers.

Some of us will be flapping falteringly and others flying faultlessly towards making our homes look perennially spring cleaned!

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

This is what it's all about - Babysteps each day to try to get some order back into our home with LOADS of support from our regulars.

So join in! We start this thread on March 1st, but you are welcome to dive in at any point in the month.

Hop along to reserve your place...

Me, me, me!

New month's resolution - I WILL do some flying every day - even if its only 15 mins.

See you on March 1st!

optimisticmumma · 26/02/2010 21:22

Hi ladies!
Just marking my spot on the thread!!
xx

swanriver · 26/02/2010 21:42

I think my top babystep (that I still haven't really cracked) for this month will be:

getting the clothes ready for the next day, which means getting KIDS to put out their uniform (either reusing or fresh)on chairs
NOT washing uniform overnight, leaving to dry and having a freeforall in morning
getting MY own clothes ready for next day
checking shoes and bags are in the hall ready to go the NIGHT BEFORE

I think this is going to require a whole month of concentration

[the house meanwhile will continue on its merry slipshod way I fear, apart from SINK of course]

elliepac · 26/02/2010 22:23

evening all, marking my spot accordingly.

I'm with you sr that is the single most life changing babystep. I have actually done it all week for the first time this week (despite being on this thread since sept ) and it has made a massive difference in the moring. The day goes much better if i am not in a strop before half past 7 and if i havent had to get up at 6 just to put the drier on for uniform!

right back over to the other thread.

missbennett · 26/02/2010 23:39

Me too.....here I am
And I vote for the putting clothes out - makes a huge difference.
And the routines help.
Getting better each month.......
My resolution? Trying to sort out the paperwork that adorns my house is a variety of piles in a variety of places!

PositiveAttitude · 27/02/2010 07:18

Marking my spot for yet another month of trying to get myself organised.

teamcullen · 27/02/2010 09:45

Me too with the spot marking....
As long as that spot isnt on my shiny sink

peachylovesherpoochy · 28/02/2010 17:30

Hi everyone joining for the first time - am at the end of my tether with my house so hoping this is going to give me some structure - this is my last ditch hope before I give in to getting a cleaner

MumInBeds · 28/02/2010 18:37

I'm with you peachy, I tried flying years ago but life got crazy and it went by the wayside. I've forgotten everything except sink and shoes so I'm starting from scratch.

Littlepurpleprincess · 28/02/2010 18:59

Hello. Can I join? Life is getting on top of me and my house is showing it. I've made a start, my sink is twinkling!

MiniMarmite · 28/02/2010 21:12

Hi Ladies,

Welcome to the March madness one and all.

A special hello to our newbies Peachy, MIB and LPP - I hope you don't mind me creating shortened names for you already we're quite lazy with typing keen on those around here - please do tell us what you would prefer to be called!

This is what it is all about: CHAOS!!!

I'll be posting the links the night before as I don't do mornings!

Our baby step for the first day is to shine our sinks - this one will help you feel like you're on track even on days when you can't manage more than this.

We'll also be working in Zone 1 this week - The Entrance, Front Porch, and Dining Room (I think this is right, with Feb being a short month we may have skipped Zone 5, the Living Room, last month). This is where we will be doing 15 minutes of decluttering for the coming week as well as this being the focus of the missions for those who have finished decluttering and/or want an extra challenge.

Good luck everyone whatever you are trying to achieve this month.

Hello everyone! I've just joined this website and love it already.

I've been in a bad relationship and felt really down for the last 2 years and just cant be bothered with the minimum most of the time

I've decided to change my life for the better (asked "him" to look for another place last night) and have already made a dent in the house in just 24hrs.

Since i'm new i'll be choosing to get the clothes and bags ready the night before. Infact, i'm off to do that now.

If i manage this i might try to start going to bed earlier as another resolution.

Good Luck to everyone!!!

droitwichmummy · 28/02/2010 21:59

Hi Jo purple MIB and peachy welcome to the madness.

The key to this is having an idea of what you want to get done in the day (but not too much or you will burn out). If you get it done, let us know and we will celebrate that with you. If you have a bad day, come on here and off-load. There is often (virtual) wine and sometimes cake to keep us going .

See you tomorrow

MrsDinky · 28/02/2010 22:55

Marking my spot, back tomorrow. Thank you to DWM for guiding us over the lat few months and thank you to MM for taking over.

feetheart · 01/03/2010 06:52

Right, I'm feeling much better than I was though I still have remnants of lurgy and vaguely itchy eyes.
I'm raring to go with a new month having seen just how much difference 2 months have made.

Welcome to the Peachy8, MIB, LLP and JCB*. Definitely do this in Babysteps, don't try and do too much at once or you will burn out and give up. This is my 4th attempt (though a few things have stuck each time) and this time it seems to be working.
Don't worry about all the mad lists either. I didn't do the list thing on my previous attempts but thought I'd give it a go this time. It seems to serve two purposes for me - showing me just how much I have achieved and motivating me to do stuff because I've told the world I'm going to. However some days very little of it gets done as life gets in the way

Aim for the month is DEFINITELY paperwork,. There is far too much of it in various piles around the house.
I also need to get to bed at a sensible time as I wake up at silly o'clock most mornings.

So, list for today:
Morning routine
Sneak borrowed stuff back into school after Pamper Night on Friday
Look after friend's 2 yr old all day which might slow things down
2 mins hotspot
Hoover downstairs
Go into town to find 2 red sweatshirts to turn DD and her best friend into Thing 1 and Thing 2 for World Book Day on Friday (idea shamelessly lifted from a thread on here )
Lunch with a friend and her newly adopted daughter
Afternoon routine
Evening routine
Bed at decent time

Back to mammoth posts so must be feeling better
Have a good day everyone.

feetheart · 01/03/2010 06:53

Sorry Peachy

PositiveAttitude · 01/03/2010 06:57

OOOhhhhh!! First one this morning! Up bright and early to get stuck in.

Good start so far:
Washing machine unloaded/loaded - done
Tumble drier unloaded/loaded - done
Cats fed!- done
Dishwasher unloaded/loaded - done
Wii fit - done

List for before work:
Sandwich marathon
cut up veg and put in slowcooker - chicken stew today.
breakfast
stay calm and get DD4 and DS out of the door on time!
Get to work early as a manic day ahead.

Good morning to everyone. Welcome to everyone here for the first time (or returning).
Have a good day and I will catch up later.

PositiveAttitude · 01/03/2010 06:59

Oh Feetheart you beat me this morning!

missbennett · 01/03/2010 08:04

Morning all! Waving lots and especially to peachylovesherpoochy, jocoolbeans, littlepurpleprincess and muminbeds. I've got to ask, muminbeds, is the in Beds locational or where you would rather be? Am in Beds myself.....

Today for me.....
-routine - morning done!
-reboot dryer - done
-lunches etc - done
-make risotto for tomorrow
-mission - must DEFINITELY do this as the piles of rubbish important paperwork are threatening to take over the house feetheart I am joining you in the focus on that this month - think it will be key to making progress!
-go to work - shortly!
-try and walk the dog. He is not getting out enough and must must must do better - am sick of clearing up after him!

Anyway, this flying stuff is beginning to rub off on DD2. Instead of nagging about her room yesterday, I asked her to clear the top of her dressing table. She managed this, came down for dusty/wipe things to do the mirror etc and said she's going to do the pile round the TV next, being very pleased with the result from what she did do! She is clearly my daughter - satisfied with a bit

Better go - see you all later!

teamcullen · 01/03/2010 08:11

MOrning everyone, what a lovely new thread we have here!

Welcome to Jo purple MIB and peachy it is lovely to have some fresh new faces to breathe life into those of us who (me ) have been here for nearly half a year and still not cracked it! Just remember to babysteps and I am sure it will all fall into place. Enjoy the thread! .

To the rest of you, am afraid you just get a hello as am sneaking on at breaktime!

Today looks like this:-

morning routine done
washing on
dry washing away
cook dinner
ds to beavers
pay bills
evening routine
WINE

Special mention must go to MrsD whose list looks mammoth!

My CM is back today. It was so lovely to drop DC's off and have DD literally push me out of the door, waving me goodbye, perfectly happy!

It is a beautiful day here, shame I am stuck at work!
