Fledgling Flyers - Mad as March Hares

MiniMarmite · 26/02/2010 20:07

Welcome to the spring(ish) edition of the fledgling flyers.

Some of us will be flapping falteringly and others flying faultlessly towards making our homes look perennially spring cleaned!

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

This is what it's all about - Babysteps each day to try to get some order back into our home with LOADS of support from our regulars.

So join in! We start this thread on March 1st, but you are welcome to dive in at any point in the month.

Hop along to reserve your place...

pa i just spent the last hour beating(not that i'm competitive you understand!)dh at mario kart. I find it rather amusing that he spends his time telling ds not to sulk when he loses because it's just a game but has then thrown the biggest silk when i beat him!.

Big waves to everyone, with particularly warm ones in the general direction of all of you newcomers.

elliepac · 01/03/2010 21:51

whoops, that should say sulk not silk . Long day!And cross posts with feetheart hi feetheart!

missbennett · 01/03/2010 23:08

Hi, everyone! Am exhausted reading what you have all been doing! swan those rolls sound yummy - might try at the weekend!
SC - very impressed by the thought of power dusting.
mm thank you for all the links etc.
Well, it's been a busy day here for me -
-routines - done
-work - done
-reboot washing - done
-enjoy DD2's curry from school for tea - done
-feel like smug mummy beacuse she only told me she was cooking at 10pm last night and I still managed to find all the ingredients - done (Though of course a really organised mummy would have known about it before last thing last night! Reminded me of the time DD1 said (also late on), 'you haven't forgotten I need a Tudir picnic for tomorrow have you?' Just one moment, I have a roasted swan right here......!) OOh soory, swan, obviously not you roasted!
-make risotto for tomorrow - done
-mission - not done But I've mentally planned a filing system - which is a start?
-15mins on the Wiifit - done
-long talk with DD1 about relationships between boys and girls, boys and boys, girls and boys, girls and girls etc etc. But it's good to talk
Sorry not to mention more folk but too tired to cope with the scrolling - will have to try having two tabs open - works better that way!

Oh, and whispers to feetheart as not sure how much detail one is supposed to give - am in mid beds, half way between Bedford and Luton.

night all, see you tomorrow......

MumInBeds · 02/03/2010 07:15

missbennett so sorry I missed your question, shows what a haze I was in yesterday (and I'm just getting used to the layout here. Yeah, I am a Bedfordshire girl, well a Luton girl to be exact but I'm a bit fretful about saying that after the panning Luton got in a thread here the other day. Are you in Luton too feetheart?

teamcullen · 02/03/2010 07:46

Good Morning everybody. Thankyou to Feetheart PA MM PMPU MrsD DWM and anybody else who Ive missed for the good luck messages for DS. Hopefully today will bring good news. If not Ill be busy working on an appeal

Feetheart Im glad you got your place for DS. Its so lovely when they first start school and its all new and fun to them. I dont think its hit DS1 how different secondary school is. Its either that or he is totally unfased by it. He hasnt even asked if his letter has come.

Ive a busy day today. But got up today and dressed to (no) shoes
Swish and swipe done
Washing machine half done
Breakfast dishes
cook chicken fajita mix for tonight going to do now
Keep DSs moving with their morning lists working progress

Im going to see a spirtulist tonight so might not get back on later but will tackle daily missions and begin to de-clutter under the stairs, Its like the twilight zone under there

have a good day.

missbennett · 02/03/2010 08:45

Morning all! Lovely sunny day here albeit cold and frosty!
Glad the school place was what you wanted feetheart - so are you in Luton too - only that's the only Bedfordshire place with secondary schools - the rest of us of course have middle and upper.
Hope your letter brings the news you want too, teamcullen. muminbeds I didn't see the pasting of Luton? I've worked in Luton for years and I think it gets an undeservedly poor press - it's a great place with some great people - I see a lot of the challenges as well in my job but I really like working there - and indeed am proud to do so......

Anyway, none of this has anything to do with flying, in spite of Luton's airport (ha ha - very poor joke I know )

Today I've:
-morning routine - done
-made especially nice packed lunch with left over rice, peas, pepper and seafood sticks - yum - done
-washing - towels now on the line
-will look at the mission later
-swimming - this evening

So I'd better get off to work now.
Have good days, all.

deaddei · 02/03/2010 08:50

I have just cleaned 3 bathrooms and toilets and feel very virtuous

swanriver · 02/03/2010 09:08

Just popping in briefly,
yay - dressed first thing!
and went to bed early
clothes sort of put out last night - left everything to dh as I was watching Glee - which means less perfectionist examining of yoghurt stains and grimy cuffs, but still only one day of manky kids

off to "work" in school now till 11.30 then need to take ds1 to swimming in lieu of school PE

back to chat at 11.30, I hope

aberita · 02/03/2010 09:08

Morning everyone! I have finally managed to shine my sink - got it cleared ready to do last night, but somehow got distracted (story of my life...). I only managed it this morning because DS has gone outside to play in the garden - it's a lovely sunny day here too. He's off Kindergarten all week with an ear infection but you'd never guess he's ill; he's running around creating havoc as per usual. If I try and tidy up somewhere, he's busy untidying somewhere else... I can't keep up with him!

Otherwise, I don't feel like I've had a very productive morning so far - we've been back from the school run for two hours, and all I've managed to do is empty the dishwasher, clear the breakfast things away and get the ironing board out. Oh, and play a game with DS. He's now back indoors wanting to play another game so I suspect I may have to be content with just having a shiny sink surrounded by chaos this morning.

Jas · 02/03/2010 10:32

Thanks for the welcome everyone (Ye,s I recognise you too from old FLY thread stillcounting)

I achieved all I wanted to yesterday, and today I need to clean the wheelie bin (bleurgh), and get my morning routine done in the morning

QueenofDreams · 02/03/2010 11:43

Hi ladies,
Didn't end up shining my sink last night but it was due to ds being distraught until midnight. (think his last few teeth are on the way through)
So today's list

Exercise done
Take ds to bounce and rhyme done

clean counters
15 minutes in dining room

swanriver · 02/03/2010 14:44

Marmite I'm having singing and piano lessons, but I am really BAD. Two lessons and teacher's already taught me loads but at same time I do feel I've gone from being a "good singer" to being a hopeless amateur, glottal stops all over the place, no breath control etc etc.
Trying some alto songs now as I can't even sing top notes of anything, but was attempting things like Purcell and folk songy stuff.
I am very interested that youahve been singing for years, so far I've only met professional singers or choral singers.

QueenofDreams · 02/03/2010 15:13

My sister is an opera trained soprano! I play piano, and I'm actually considering giving lessons. My dining room needs to be clean first though.

PositiveAttitude · 02/03/2010 16:23

Afternoon ladies,

"Long" day at work so far - I know you probably work far longer hours then me, but Monday and Tuesday I work til 3.30. Just arrived home and made a chocolate cake for a ladies birthday who is coming to homegroup tonight. In the oven and smelling yummy!
Need to give a quick tidy round the back lounge, use the carpet sweeper as I still have not got around to ordering the part for the hoover!

Not a lot to say, as I haven't done a lot and do not intend to do a lot.

Have a good evening everyone, I may try to catch up with all the news later.

swanriver · 02/03/2010 17:17

QofDreams - there - you see - everyone's better than me at singing[professional sob]

as far as I can piano lessons are in GREAT DEMAND. Lady who teaches ds2 does 20min children's lessons, and she is really a singer - but the number of eager parents wanting their kids to learn piano made it worth her while to specialize as p tcher. I think she charges £10 for 20 mins, which is really 15 mins, as they come in succession throughout afternoon. And she gets them to pay in advance for a block of ten lessons. It must be very hard work though, all those sticky fingers.

Babbling on T'internet is very calming isn't it...
just feeling at my wit's end trying to organize these parties for two soon-to-be eight year olds to suit everyone, and ds1 birthday is in April so HE is trying to put his oar in too. I am sure Positive you are a master at these affairs, whipping up cakes and welcome at short notice

There, feel better now, having decided dates, will write invites firmly. Easter hols are in the way unfortunately.

teamcullen · 02/03/2010 17:18

Hello everybody.

I havent read any posts or got time to stop but just wanted to say.........

DS got his first choice secondary school

QueenofDreams · 02/03/2010 17:28

Oh well done youngcullen!

Right got to go cook ds's dinner

PositiveAttitude · 02/03/2010 17:55

Very pleased for you TC.

Just had a very successful experiment tea time. Knocked together something really quick and simple and all the Dcs loved it, which is a miracle! I am sure you will all be far more proficient than me at simple teas, but it was just cubed bacon, cooked add some philedelphia (SP??) sweetcorn and cooked pasta all stirred and served. - just thought i would share it with you.

Room all ready now for tonight, cake looking good. I am ready for a relaxing evening not doing very much. DS has just produced a 1000piece wasjig that he wants to start, looks as if no cross-stitching tonight.
