Have had a glass of wine and stopped sulking now. Thanks guys.

They have discussed my DD's going to their nursery since I was pregnant. From all the positive chat and knowing she was on the list I assumed she would get a place. No mention was ever made that they were full. I have nothing in writing though so can't do anything.

It is a very small nursery of only 15 spaces.

I am going to write them a letter and find somewhere else.

As we are in Wales DS will be going to school in Sept even though he is only 4 so I don't have to pay for childcare for 2. I was planning to work 3 days a week to keep me sane and keep my career going. At the minute I don't want to go back because it is so different this time round. When I had DS that I was desperate to go back when he was 6/7 months old so things might change...

Am awaiting a chinese takeaway...

Morning! I'm a little worse for wear this morning, but not too bad!

Had a great time at my friends, and am looking forward to the theatre this afternoon.

OMG the cake is delicious, well the trimmimgs anyway

Well, the childminder was absolutely lovely. really lovely clean and tidy house. Seems a very patient and good natured lady. She currently works in a nursery so has lots of experience and has all the qualifications and checks. She just needs a few more checks and will be ready to start.

DS behaved himself and didn't want to leave as she had lots of great toys and DD was her usual smily self. She will save a space for DD during the day and DS after school for when I go back to work and will ring me in the next few weeks to confirm that she has had all her checks.

So maybe it was meant to be after all . Just got to work out when to go back to work now and get DD off the boob and on the bottle [sniff].

Happy mother's day everyone!

I am thinking of doing something v brave (for me) and would like opinions...

As I have moaned about said before I don't have many real friends round here only mum friends. It's my bday on Easter day so I was thinking of inviting some of the mum friends over in the evening for drinks/nibbles inthe hope that seeing them socially might make them friend friends not just mum friends. But I'm worried that noone will come! Do you think they'll be less likely to because it's easter as well? Wouldn't want it to be a big thing just casual drinks and chat...

Sounds like a great idea freakoid.
Suss them out to see if the ones you most like will be about? Say you were fancying having some drinks and I bet they will be dying for a night away from their kids etc.

• kitchen - clean sink, wash pots, dry pots, clean sides, clean floor

Freak that is a lovely idea, i would agree that lots of people go away/have family over on easter day, so perhaps afterwards? Feel you could be disappointed if people are busy, it is no reflection of what they think of you. Perhaps a BodyShop party? Have been to a couple that i hardly knew anyone but because someone was there to break the ice for you it was not awkward at all. If i was near you i would come! In fact.......
