I HATE my house. It has got to the point I can't bear to be at home. We go to toddler groups or classes most days and if I am at home I feel awful. I can't bear the state I have let the house get in to. It is dirty, very messy, cluttered etc. I feel bad for my children. I NEED to get it sorted for their sake and mine.

DH is taking the kids out for a couple of hours tomorrow.

So there is my chance to get it sorted. But I don't even know where to start!

I feel like I am always cleaning and tidying. But it is still a right state - how does that work?!

I am not looking for a spotless house, I would hate that. But I would love for it to be safe and hygenic for my kids, and to be able to have friends over at the last min without being embarrassed about the state of the house.

PLLLLLLLEEEEAAAAASSSSSSEEEE Help me. I am really desperate.

Well, no I can't afford to treat myself to anything new oncev I've lost the weight, plus, I love ther clothes I have.

Flame, I did a little bit, but forgot to set a timer, so didn't do more than pick up/sort some toys(longer than 15 minutes)...will do better tomorrow .
What time do you plan to start? maybe we could 'work together'?

namechangedforareason · 23/11/2009 20:42

I am hoping to do more tomorrow! I will probably be starting at about 8.30am, when DD2 goes down for her morning sleep - depending on how early she wakes up that is.

You need bin bags and you need to throw lots of things away. Anything that conceivably be thought of as rubbish, anything that doesn't fit, doesn't work or isn't used - bin it.

Flame · 23/11/2009 20:54

I get back from school run about 9.15.... Can start about 9.30? or read a book

SolosScrapingUpForXmas · 23/11/2009 21:03

Oooh! that's too very early Flame! but I'll try. Will log on at 9 and wait for you.

What is FlyLady 27? is there a link to that please?

Colditz, I can't throw anything away ~ not yet! I'm not prepared, have no bin bags etc

Flame · 23/11/2009 22:18

That's ok, I can read tidy slowly til you join me

SolosScrapingUpForXmas · 23/11/2009 23:29

Fab! Flame

SolosScrapingUpForXmas · 23/11/2009 23:30

Gulp! I'll see you in the morning then

dreamteamgirl · 23/11/2009 23:39

Good luck to you both for tomorrow

SolosScrapingUpForXmas · 23/11/2009 23:40

SolosScrapingUpForXmas · 23/11/2009 23:44

OMG!!!!! Noooo! not unless I can collect a total of 54 marbles or something similar...I'd never do it! I'm not that strong ~ hell, I'm very very weak!

Flame · 24/11/2009 08:00

Solo - I had sod all sleep last night. I am on coffee and still aiming to try this morning, but I think there is a possibility that sleep may happen if DD2 co-operates

mollyroger · 24/11/2009 08:12

I can't do flylady as I work 4 days a week. I still do swish and swipe in bathroom thogh and i got a few 'tools' from her like the CHAOS blitz, setting timer for 10 mins in each room etc.

Can someone link me to slatterns? Are they nice?

Flame · 24/11/2009 08:14

Slatterns are lovely and here. I tend to flick between slatternly and flying behaviour

SolosScrapingUpForXmas · 24/11/2009 09:25

Morning Flame! I'm tired too, but there's no chance Dd will sleep during daylight hours now, so I'm up, showered, dressed and shoes on, but no make up! . Do what you need to Flame, but I'm going to give it a shot. Be good to work together if we can though

Off to put kettle on! (good start eh?)

Gracie123 · 24/11/2009 09:28

Ooh, I'm going to join you! let me know when you start and I'll do some crisis cleaning/27 fling at the same time.

LoveBeingAMummy · 24/11/2009 09:36

Hey how's it going? I have felt like this and last week and a big change to the way I looked at it.

I started with one room and went mad in there, all whilst dd was asleep. I struggle with getting things done when she is awake so know what you mean. I started in the kitchen. Dh was very pleased with the results. The next day I started again the kitchen, I cleaned and tidied anything that had been left out and then moved onto the next room. It didn't take long and then I started on the living room. I couldn't finish this in one day to the next day I started again in the kitchen and finished th eliving room.

Hope i am explaining this well enough for you to understand. Basically pick a starting point and its your starting point every day. Then just add on as you can.

Of course all this was going really well till DD came down with a 40+ temp on sunday, so yesterday not a huge got done. But its not as bad as it was before i started!

SolosScrapingUpForXmas · 24/11/2009 09:37

Ok, I'm just going to drink my cuppa. I did stack and set the dishwasher whilst I made it...actually, I feel like I've run a marathon already...

Will let you know Gracie...not sure where Flame is...maybe ZZzzzzz?!

SolosScrapingUpForXmas · 24/11/2009 09:39

good on you LBAM. I usually do what you did, but I always get side tracked, so I'm going to give the FlyLady Crisis thing a go this time. I am armed with my timer and everything!!!

Gracie123 · 24/11/2009 09:41

Naughty flame!

I made a new maternity skirt this morning (been up since 6am with DS but he is sick so I'll forgive him)

Most of my tidying will probably involve putting away all the sewing gear and snipped threads that I have left everywhere

SolosScrapingUpForXmas · 24/11/2009 09:47

It's still tidying though Gracie.

My Dd has just emptied a bag of pool balls out! bloody hell!

This tea is hot, I'll be as quick as I can though

SolosScrapingUpForXmas · 24/11/2009 09:48

Just looked at your profile Gracie...organised? you can't possibly need to flylady ~ surely?

Gracie123 · 24/11/2009 10:00

Can't remember what's on my profile (wrote it a long time ago!) how do I look at it? What did it say?

SolosScrapingUpForXmas · 24/11/2009 10:02

Click on your name above your posts.

SolosScrapingUpForXmas · 24/11/2009 10:03

Right! I'm going to get started. 15 minutes in the kitchen, 15 in the living room, then another 15 in the kitchen...so I'll be back in 45 minutes with an update!

Ready, steady, GO!!!
