Evening all

I'm just about to turn in - waiting for last load of washing to finish

MiniMarmite - I hope you are in bed now but just wanted to say it's so good of you to come back on here and post after what must have been a very tough day for you and your family. I'm so glad the care you received at the hospital was good and that you got some quality time with your dh and hopefully more to come this w/e without visitors. And thanks for being so kind and understanding about my whinge and saying what you did about our group [warm and fuzzy emoticon here too Elliepac! Take care of yourself tomorrow and take it very steady. Look forward to "seeing you" on Friday x

Droitwitch - I continue to be in awe of your calm lists and the way you are crossing out task after task, day after day. You get top prize for most consistent Fledging! Thanks for your calming influence today!

Hope you feel better soon PushmePullyou hopefully in time for your trip. I am focusing on my bedroom now - thanks for the pointers! Embarrassed to admit, I have attic and basement from hell too btw

You've done really well with your list too DEM - can you now please solve the mystery of my DD's missing school shoe, preferably before 7am tomorrow morning [arrggh] How does this happen???!!! Hope your ds doesn't have too bad a night.

Flaps wings madly at Elliepac - save a cold sausage for me!

Owing to all your support and advice, I am going to bed in a much less panicky state than I was in earlier (excuse appalling grammar - am tired) - so thanks everyone. Laundry has been beaten in to submission and there are even small clearings appearing on the master bedroom floor ....

Sleep well everyone and see you in the morning

optimisticmumma · 21/10/2009 23:24

Just in...
sleep tight all...

nightmareteamgirl · 21/10/2009 23:42

Thanks for the update MM. Hope you are doing as ok as you can be

I also got a warm fuzzy that other people think of this thread as a 'group'. I feel so at home here!!

Flying a bit low to ground this week, as it has been too darn busy but will get back on soon

Just one reply to CTGH is yes you can totally get house ready- as long as you let go of perfectionism. And anyway as ellie said, the friend is comign to see YOU- tidy hosue will be total bonus!!

Night all

Countingthegreyghouls · 22/10/2009 05:54

DWM, i'm with CTGH you definitely should go straight to the top of the class. Swot

DEM well done on getting everything done, lesson planning sucks at times doesn't it?

OM go to Tesco..... You know I feel your pain as far as that task is concerned.

MM hope you are taking it easy today. xxx

Elliepac waves frantically at WTD, NTG, HAG ShoppingVeggie and anyone else she's missed (she know there must be someone but can't think this early in the morning, sorry if it's you).

havingagiraffe · 22/10/2009 06:49

Hi all

Haven't managed to catch up on everything from yesterday, seemed like it was busy though. I would like to say that my absence was due to lots of flying but it was more due to a grizzly boy who wouldn't sleep and trying to fit swimming and shopping and washing around that, in a very panicky and unorganised way.

MM So glad you had kind people at the hospital, it makes such a difference. A relief, as well, to know you can just chill at the weekend and have lots of cuddles with dh and ds.

btw now typing one handed so excuse lack of capitals and no halloween smileys.

ctgg- stay calm, you'll get there, it's amazing how much you can achieve in a couple of days.

ellie- are you feeling better now, well enough to go in? only 2 more days though and half-term, well it is for us anyway.

dwm- v/impressive flying. mind you everyone's flying is impressive compared to mine. i haven't even done my morning and bedtime routines.

i have done a bit of decluttering in bedroom but still - pitiful!

We are off to Center Parcs tomorrow with my dad and brother so that's taken a bit of time to sort.

To make you smile - we are sorting ds's christening and the invitations arrived yesterday. we were writing the envelopes last night and commented that there seemed alot in the pile. it then dawned on me we had ordered based on the food numbers not the invites needed! doh!! not our finest hour.

off to hand baby over and go back to bed for a bit - 5 am wake today.

droitwitchmum · 22/10/2009 07:07

HAG back to bed and get some sleep!

Just a quick flutter in this morning
Thanks for the coffee CTGG - dont't forget to set your timer for your room sorting

I did today's mission yesterday as my declutter so today I'm going to tackle that sock drawer.
Today's list
dressed done
sort washing done
DS up done
breakfast now
make lunch

after work
sock drawer
spare room settee (will it get done today?)
declutter side of DH's wardrobe
ironing
shine sink

Back later

walkthedinosaur · 22/10/2009 07:36

You're all so dedicated, today I just can't be arsed, pure and simple

MM I'm glad it went smoothly for you yesterday, just take it easy, wrap yourself in your duvet and have a gentle day.

I think it's going to be a nightmare day, now have DS2 off school chucking up everywhere and have a meeting with the educational psychologist this afternoon to begin DS1's assessment/diagnosis for autism. I'm bricking it am really worried. I have a French friend coming with me to help translate if I get stuck, but nobody now to look after DS2 so am going to have to drag him along as well. My work hasn't come in for today yet so I've asked for a reduced workload or no work at all would be nice, but it's still early in the UK so haven't heard anything. Maybe I should make myself busy with housework and take my mind of things.

I did tidy up my bedside cabinet and removed the magazines dated May 2006 that I put there to read at some point, ironically it was Good Housekeeping! I've binned them and also any stray pokemon cards that were hiding there too. So I've made a start on the bedroom.

Gotta go DS is puking again.

FullMooniMarmite · 22/10/2009 08:26

Morning All

Just a quickie from me before I go back to bed.

WTD sounds like a stressful day for you. I hope the appointment goes well for DS1's assessment and that DS2 feels better soon.

for everyone

optimisticmumma · 22/10/2009 11:25

Morning ladies -I'm a bit late today.
Confession time - I was lurking earlier but felt I couldn't possibly post until I had gone to Tesco's otherwise I wouldn't hear the end of it from you naggy lot!

Anyway - I bought you all your favourite cake/pastry for coffee time so please enjoy!

WTD - I hope your day goes better than you expect. I'm not surprised you're bricking it...it's a lot to deal with without DH and in another language - good luck.

MM - glad you had lots of lovely support yesterday. Hugs from the Optimistic household...

HaGiraffe hope you managed a bit more sleep. LOL at the Christening invites - whoops!

CTGG how's the mammouth clearup going? Stop for 10 mins and eat the cake I bought you.

ellipac and DWM thanks for the Tesco nag - it worked!!

DevilsEnticeMadness · 22/10/2009 18:47

Feel quite happy about the master bedroom. Managed to clear it to the sound of Peruvian pan pipe CD [I know, I know, blush] - miraculously it seemed to get faster and faster towards the end of each 15 minute segment . Ashamed to say found a suitcase lurking under mound of clutter which was still a quarter full from holidays end August

DD helped me put all my shoes away in their boxes after supper tonight and she dusted and polished two chests of drawers - what a star!!

Still got to clear fossilised banana skins and various ephemera from my office desk tomorrow ....

Oh your poor ds DEM - you did well today nonetheless - hope he feels better tomorrow

Optimistic - I now have an image of you leaving yr house wearing dark glasses and trenchcoat on a secret mission to Tesco. Well done for traversing the aisles!!

Hope you managed to have a good rest today Mini-M

Did you manage to get through the day WalkingtheD? - It sounded like it was going to be a tough one? How is ds2 - better I hope - and how did your meeting go? (I also have stacks of Good Housekeeping and can see surfaces of bedside tables for first time in a while!)

Hello to Droitwitch - how was your day. I also managed 1 sock drawer clearance and 15-min timer technique worked really well.

Have a lovely day out tomorrow HavingaG

"Courage" to everyone who is either poorly themselves or nursing someone who is poorly

Just time to turn on a load of washing before Masterchef tonight. Think it is the final!

Thanks for all your help everyone - waves to anyone I have missed - see you tomorrow ...

Countingthegreyghouls · 22/10/2009 20:02

[Leaves bottle of red, corkscrew and glasses out for Elliepac, Droitwitch and anyone else who fancies a glass...]

optimisticmumma · 22/10/2009 20:47

Where is everyone???
CTGG Don't mind if I do (have a glass of red, that is). Well done to you for getting all that done! Wow!

DEM - hope DS is better. Am a teacher too (but Y3/4). Are you doing GTP or some such? (being nosy emoticon) All that school planning is v. impressive! Thank God it's nearly half-term...

FullMooniMarmite · 22/10/2009 21:12

Evening Ladies

I'm just on to write a quick list to encourage me to do a few things tomorrow. Had a good rest today thanks - slept for ages and didn't get dressed until just before DS came home from the childminder.

So, tomorrow:

  • swish and swipe
  • make beds
  • one load of washing in, on, out
  • short outing with DS
  • put away at least some of the clean clothes
  • get some food in for the weekend and plan some meals
  • load and unload dishwasher
  • vacuum rugs
  • shine sink
  • babystep

Hope you all had a good day.

FullMooniMarmite · 22/10/2009 21:13

...oh and will be dressed to socks by 07:30 rather than 17:30!

droitwitchmum · 22/10/2009 21:15

I'm here! Thanks for getting the wine out CTGG
Done everything today except for sinka and ironing which I shall do with a (virtual)glass in hand
Today's list
dressed done
sort washing done
DS up done
breakfast done
make lunch - didn't get done so bought it today, but that's unusual. Just ran out of time this morning

after work
sock drawer done
spare room settee DONE!
declutter side of DH's wardrobe done and left him instructions to go through the huge mound of clothes I pulled out so I can throw them away or find them a home
ironing
shine sink

OM well done on getting to Tescos
ctgg great day! I knew you could do it
DEM I'm impressed you got so much done with a poorly DS

Hi to everyone else. Must stop prevaricating and get ironing....

elliepac · 22/10/2009 22:08

Phew.....made it.

Well, stuck to my promise and house is now presentable (apart from all cupboards which have stuff stuffed in them and bedrooms which no-one sees). Quite impressive considering i didn't get in from work till 6.20pm. Still essentially a bit of a filthy mess but sod it, they can take us how they find us

MM hope you had a restful day, take it easy tomorrow.

WTD hope Ds1's assessment went ok and that DS2 has stopped chucking up. MOst of all, hope you coped ok and are de-stressing as we speak.

HAG lol at christening invites and hope DS isn't quite as grizzly now. Oh, and enjoy Centre Parcs. Am very as have never been myself. Have a fab time.

OM Yay for doing Tesco's. Sorry for the nagging

DEM Am a teacher too. Full time secondary school (HIstory Head of Department). Trust me when i say it does get easier. If you need any help/advice etc. please just ask. Sounds like you managed to have a really productive day.

CTGH i knew there was a very good reason you are our esteemed leader...what a day you've had. But Pan Pipe Music??!!

DWM another cracking day....now get on with that ironing

Decided to now make a list to make myself feel better because house is still a bit of a tip:-
Living room tidied, swept, polished
Dining room tidied, swept, polished
Kitchen DW on, extra washing up done (too many dirty pots to fit in DW ), sides cleaned, sink shined
Hallway, general tidy.
1 Load of washing on
Bathroom general clean

Anyway, mammoth post. Am going to watch eastenders and find out who's the daddy .

Take Care

nightmareteamgirl · 22/10/2009 22:27

Evening all!

I am very very rubish at the moment. I am managing my daily routines, but not the missions and barely the daily jobs

Everyone is doing so so well tho

DS is going away tomorrow for 5 days and at the same time ...

Its almost the longest he has been to his dads for in like ever, but its time I gave them more time and space togetehr I guess. Have opened the wine, but not much left to share I am afraid. Will happily open another botle if you like?

DevilsEnticeMadness · 22/10/2009 22:28

I am doing a PGCE and it is matching the amount and level of work to the group that i have found hard at the mo. eg how to work a microscope lesson for individuals with visual impairments. It has taken some thinking as when I asked my mentor he looked at me and said "I hadnt thought of that" to be fair he is madly busy at the mo, and the lab technicians (who probably run the department on the sly) sorted me out.
I only get so much done as I had left for school before it was decided ds was too poorly and mum has chased aroung after him. She is a saint. Ex has come up to take ds to school and pick him up tomo before whisking him away for a few days. There will be peace and quiet for lesson planning, assignment writing and most importantly cleaning and tidying. Cant wait. It will be nice to have a house rather then a bombsite! Need to come up with a plan of mascare for the weekend and a to do list. I have a white board all ready - just need to find the pens

elliepac · 23/10/2009 06:08

Morning all,

coffee percolating nicely though you will have to be quick as am now on to second cup. (DH tossing and turning all night so no sleep...grrrrrrr.)

Last day today before half term. High pressure meeting about exam results to get through though so am just doing final preparation now.

Tis my DMum's 60th birthday today so big family do tonight for grown-ups and a smaller one for grandchildren etc. on sunday.

Have a good day. Will be a happy and relieved elliepac who checks in tonight...now work for a week!

droitwitchmum · 23/10/2009 06:39

Good morning all! Thanks for putting the coffee on elliepac
I'm not a teacher but I'm not at work next week as its half term. Planning to make Christmas cake! Have a good time tonight

Peeked at today's mission - changing our bed is NOT going to happen on a work day so I will save that for tomorrow.. I was thinking of doing a home blessing hour and I think that includes changing the beds so I will do it then.
My list for today
dressed
make bed
get DS up
breakfast
make lunch
washing on airer done
DS reading book in bag

after work
ironing
hotspot - dining table
clear out cleaning cupboard
DW on
washing machine on
sink
bed on time (didn't last night)

Back later!

optimisticmumma · 23/10/2009 07:45

Morning all..

Tea for me elliepac! Morning DWM....

Only one Dc to get to school today. Other 2 have an inset day but I've got to go in as well for the afternoon for a bit of supply.

DEM - agree completely with elliepac . It does get easier. Also agree with you that differentiation is the hardest part ( and can be the first to go - sounds like your mentor has been lulled into that. I'm sure if the school were ofstedded his/her differentiation would suddenly improve!!!). Anyway it sounds like you are doing a grand job of juggling everything!!

Today I to:

Get DD up
Leave DSs in bed to stagnate
Swish,swash,swipe.
Bed - remade tomorrow or Sunday
Coffee with friend
Town to get boxes to store summer clothes.
School for lunch to see buddies and to teach this pm.
Supper??
DH home - yippee!

See you all later. MM don't overdo it, it sounds like you've got one hell of a list...
