Over here everyone!

OP posts:
elliepac · 24/10/2009 08:31

x-posts with PA - am that you are going back to bed!

Countingthegreyghouls · 24/10/2009 08:35

Baby-step for Saturday 24th October - THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ONE!!

aspBaby-step for Sunday 25th October - in which the Fat Fairy explains it takes a couple of months AT LEAST to get on top of all the routines - so anyone who is struggling please do not get despondent - just carry on one step at a time

Waves to PA (have a lovely nap!) Droitwitch (enjoy your sister's party!) and
FullMoonMarmite (like the name - hope you have a restful weekend)

Thank you for the feedback about the November thread everyone.

Got to go - dd up several times in night with high temp - she's not a happy bunny this morning. I wonder if it is swine flue (too early to tell atm) and if it is, or I suspect it is, when do you think I should warn my prospective visitor? (Feel I should but don't want to sound unwelcoming either?)

Countingthegreyghouls · 24/10/2009 08:37

Sorry that second link didn't work did it?

baby-step for Sunday 25th October

frightstick · 24/10/2009 08:38

haven't checked in for days

will be back later

Countingthegreyghouls · 24/10/2009 08:54

x posts with [Elliepac]

Thanks for your numbered feedback!! My answers 1-3 are exactly the same.

As for no.4 - you would be terrific "leader" (crikey - if I qualify then you certainly should!! [CGG surveys wobbling piles of paper on office desk, 3-day old coffee, cup & fossiilised banana skins ] Thank you for offering!!)

One small practical thing - the day's mission does not appear on Fat Fairy website until the morning

Does anyone who knows their way around the website know how to overcome this??

Have a good w/e everyone

Countingthegreyghouls · 24/10/2009 08:55

Helllloooo Frightstick - great to see you - was wondering how you were getting on ... how's things?

elliepac · 24/10/2009 09:01

Frightstick...see I knew I would forget someone.....how the devil are you ?

CTGH, If that is the case if i was to take over then I can probably post in the morning, may just be a little haphazard re timings. If I get a chance it can be first thing or it may be a little later when I get to work.

optimisticmumma · 24/10/2009 10:33

Morning ladies
I am not up and dressed to the shoes but am enjoying the tea - thanks DWM. Welcome back PAO CTGG - I love this thread just as it is particularly the level of chat - it makes me smile. It would be very dull if all we did was to post lists...
So my vote is we do a new thread for November with the 3 pronged approach in it. You have been a great leader because you have taken the time to talk to everyone personally and that makes a big difference so thank you!

DWM you've reminded me to start on my Christmas puddings - I always do Delias - so I'll be joining you, if you don't mind...

Today - don't really have a plan as it's the weekend. But I will be
having a look at next week so I don't forget things (ie dentist etc).
Quick tidy round and sort food for tomorrow as we have friends for lunch.
Keep up with washing as we're going away on Wednesday.
Go to theatre tonight!!!

Have a relaxing weekend everyone!

Countingthegreyghouls · 24/10/2009 10:42

Aw, thanks Optimistic [warm and fuzzy emoticon] but I think the true success of this thread is due to the fact that everyone takes time to post to everyone else and answer questions ifyswim and it's not just one person leading it. Sounds like you have a lovely weekend ahead - have a good 'un!

No prob Elliepac about timings (I am fairly haphazard!!) but there still may be a way around it ...

optimisticmumma · 24/10/2009 10:44

Oo er missed loads of people while typing my message so big hello and hee hee hee to elliepac (Tescos)and hello again frightstick how are you?
Big wave to WTD, (do check what support there is for your DS in UK before you take any drastic action - in my experience it is very difficult to get 1;1 here too. We have 3 statemented DC in our school of 70. Only the first is funded by LEA the rest come out of the school's budget. All three have severe diagnosis ie Global Delay and Cochlea Implants. We also have DC on autistic spectrum which we have to support and do so within the class with a classroom assistant who is there to support all the DC - HTH )

Big wave to DEM, Tibni,MM ,PBPD , PMPY and anyone else I've missed!

droitwitchmum · 24/10/2009 11:02

Quick peek in - still cooking but DS does not want to go shopping so have bought football kit on line - hope it arrives before he goes on Wednesday morning

As I'm often first on in the morning I am happy to post the mission and/or babysteps. Just need to learn how to do it.....

elliepac · 24/10/2009 12:07

Well, midday and like DWM just having a quick peek.

Just got back from the dreaded Tesco's and it was as, as fully expected, a nightmare but all done now (no laughing OM )

DWM think you would be great because you make great coffee .

Have also got DD's tights and socks.

Am off to put DD for a nap and put my feet up do some more flying.

droitwitchmum · 24/10/2009 12:24

Just done my first swish & swipe! If you have never done one go and do one now especially the bit about using any old soap type stuff on your loo brush. I use some shower gel I had for my birthday about 6 years ago and never used. Not only did it do the job but my bathroom smells wonderful!

Cooking all finished, not done any vaccuming or ironing and I'm nopt going to. Dsis needs help - see you all tomorrow

Countingthegreyghouls · 24/10/2009 13:12

Hello everyone

Thanks for your offer Droitwitch - you do tend to be the first up!!

It's quite easy to post steps (sorry if you know this already):

  1. for Baby-steps open Flylady site and go to relevant day and copy line at top of screen

2)open Fledglings thread and "paste" link with a at the beginning, then leave a space after the address and add the text you want and then type

3)then for zone find it best to google 'Flylady Flightplan' directly and repeat as for baby-steps above if that makes sense, scroll down and do same for daily mission

We are all tired today. Spent most of the morning on the sofa with dd's head on my lap watching Mary Poppins - she has high temp and is feeling rough. Visitor informed and is still coming. Must get my rear in to gear.

positiveattitudeonly · 24/10/2009 13:28

DWM , or whoever takes on next months postings, I will happily be back up if you have a problem any time, but I would really not want to be tied to doing it every day, if that's ok.

I think this thread is brilliant. I started with the August thread and my house is so different and I feel as if the routines really are ingrained in my daily life now.(the ones I do, but I confess I don't find them all useful) I love the level of nosiness chat here with you all, although I feel I am probably the worst one at replying to everyone because I am just so useless at remembering who is who and I quickly get cross with run out of time with all the scrolling up and down! Please forgive me, I do care really!!

Ellipac - I have just done the supermarket run too. Absolute nightmare!!! A bit of rain makes everyone decide to shop at the same time. Saw one lady with real trolley rage, and another swearing horribly at her child, which shocked my DS, who then announced that I am not such a bad mum after all!

Right off now to get the hoover out.
Have a good weekend everyone and enjoy your visitors. - We too have one this weekend.

ParanoiaBigPumkinDestroyer · 24/10/2009 14:06

CTGH - thanks for all the morning postings and links. I know would never be able to be that reliable in the morning - so I take my hat off to you and to DWM as CTGH passes on the feather duster baton to you. I think you both deserve shiny golden medals to pin onto your tabards.

Today I'm going to spend a bit of time on my control journal and think about the different routines I want to have in place for each day as well as aiming to make sure I can still achieve them when I return to full time teaching after Xmas. I think I might return to online shopping for the supermarket run. I used to use Ocado but I'm wondering about Waitrose. Is there a significant difference? Haven't tried Sainsburys for ages as I found the site very slow. So, that's something to investigate as well.

Now that I've done the month of babysteps does that mean that November is babysteps plus 15mins decluttering? Not all the babysteps are really established into my routine but I can see a difference and I do feel motivated to keep going thanks to this really supportive thread.

FullMooniMarmite · 24/10/2009 14:52

Had to check in as quite excited about my 2010 control journal plan (oh, how sad am I ).

Photobox have got a 2 for 1 offer on photo diaries and calendars (laminated for write-on wipe-off action) for the next few days so I'm going to see if I can customise the diary enough to be a control journal.

Will report back!

p.s. have only done swish and swipe and bed-making today but DH seems to be holding the fort, thank goodness.

tibni · 24/10/2009 15:35

Thank you for the good wishes.

Didn't do the water and early night but rather lots of strong black coffee - I know, I know but I NEEEEDED it!

Ds (ASD and learning difficulties) pulled 2 keys off the laptop - dh told him off so ds went to table and tipped his drink over in defiance! Went upstairs and he had written on the oak desk in the study with a sharpie pen then set it with clear nail varnish! I think the last school day "circus skills" workshop may have sent him a bit loopy! I was so frazzled!

Well I have dug myself out a book to be my control journal so I need to go check out the fat fairy site! Any tips on control journal would be very welcome. I have also started a christmas control journal with a list of gifts already purchased, kids wish lists, people to buy for and general christmas lists.

I have a busy time with work in November and December so I will be attempting decluttering and missions.

Took the puppy into the forest today! Came back filthy; hadn't got any puppy shampoo so I used oilatum - he looks beautiful! LOL

Have a good weekend all.

ds goes to his godfathers for a couple of hours on Saturday so when he has gone dh and I have a date with the paperwork in the study and dd has homework to do. We know how to live!

Countingthegreyghouls · 24/10/2009 16:45

pins shiny gold medal from Paranoia on tabard - thank you!! - (not sure entirely deserved!) stands solemnly beside medal adorned DWM and hands over ceremonial feather duster ...

You can use the November thread how you want Paranoid:

  1. either by just doing baby-steps again if you feel they are not yet deeply engrained,or
  1. or by doing baby-steps + 15 mins decluttering in that week's zone or
  1. by maintaining baby-steps and doing zone cleaning and daily mission (once decluttering finished).

I've come to the conclusion btw that the reason we have hot-spot clearance included in baby-steps in addition to general 15 mins decluttering (someone was asking about the difference a while back) is that once we have substantially decluttered our houses, we will need to keep at the hot-spots in order to KEEP our houses clear and not allow all the clutter to build up again, er, I think that's the theory behind it anyway ...

tibni - if it's any consolation, I will be spending a jolly hour down at the local laundrette tonight. Now that's really living!! (I'm using the laundrette's hot mangle to iron double sheets and duvet covers.) Will probably be accompanied by the local friendly "clochard" who is usually drunk and after a while starts doing a little jig and taking off his clothes in the manner of the Levi advertisement!! He's a very nice chap though, albeit totally out of his tree most of the time, and the aroma of his socks is quite enchanting!!

here's the link to building a control journal btw

Like the sound of yours FullMoon - I really am coming around to the idea of a white board or laminated Fat Fairy's method of using plastic A4 pockets and whiteboard pen as it all gets very messy. Glad to hear you are taking it steady. Your dh sounds wonderful x

Waves to PA and everyone else!!

Countingthegreyghouls · 24/10/2009 16:48

Sorry FullMoonM - typing so fast last bit didn't make sense (not that it does anyway most of the time )

meant to say ...

like the idea of white board or laminated calendar because dislike Fat Fairy's own messy method

Countingthegreyghouls · 24/10/2009 16:52

NOVEMBER THREAD

OK - thanks for all the kind words and feedback everyone - is that decided for November thread then?

  • continuing with name of "Fledgling Flyers November 2009"
  • continuing with "three-pronged approach"
  • thread to be lead by "Droitwitchmum with Elliepac as reserve and PA* as second reserve ... thank you guys

and NightmareTeam and others to offer valuable advice and expertise as usual

chat, coffee, red wine served generously as usual

Thank you fledglings all!!

DevilsEnticeMadness · 24/10/2009 18:03

November thread sounds lovely.
Trying to be motivated but had a bit of a meltdown due to AF, lack of sleep and being poorly. Trying to get some sorting out done but today it is a struggle.

Today the list was;

Pack ds' stuff done
Laundry -wash in progress, Fold, Iron, Away
Ds' bedding wash, wash plastic sheet tomo
Sort paperwork done
Class lists and seating plans done
yr 8 lesson 3: starter done, main, plenary
Discover lounge.

Much to do little energy to do it.

Loving the idea of the control journal. will give me a chance to use my new toy - a label maker. It is something that i shall have a play with later. Although suspect my control journal will be a ring binder rather then a book. however need to get past babystep 5 so off to have a look at them...

hope all are enjoying their weekend so far.

DevilsEnticeMadness · 24/10/2009 19:31

opps I am officially a control freak but now have some lovely pages for sticking in my control journal. and bookmarked page to return to at a later date.
Have also discovered i have been adding babysetps in without having looked at them so doing better then thought. Just to get on top of the chaos and it will be amazing.

elliepac · 24/10/2009 21:09

Evening, just checking in while watching x-factor.

Will gladly be DWM's understudy. PBPD also pmsl at the idea of the handing over the feather duster with tabards

Rather lazy day here in the elliepac household. AFter the tesco debacle (see above) sat and watched a movie with DS and then DH took over while I had a little afternoon nap....i love saturdays. Then cooked tea, shined sink and am currently snuggled on sofa avec wine and x-factor.

Busy day tomorrow. Tea party here tomorrow for DMum's bday so lots to do.

Take care one and all.

droitwitchmum · 24/10/2009 22:05

Am honoured to receive the ceremonial feather duster
