Bit of stress, DS managed to climb up a step when I was distracted earlier and fell on to the tiled floor head first. He is fine, has a big purple egg lump on his forehead but otherwise ok. Rang NHS Direct who went through all the checks so I'm confident he's fine, but I need to check in on him every two hours through the night.
It'll probably happen again, as the stairgate fits in on the second step, no way to stop him climbing onto the first step.
Nothing but worry eh?

TrillianAstra · 03/06/2009 21:08

Oh don't worry WME, I'm sure it's the sort of thing that all children do. Normal bumps and bruises. Well done for thinking of NHS direct though, better than worrying yourself.

SuperWasher · 03/06/2009 21:11

Sorry WME. Hope he's ok through the night. DS is constantly covered in bruises because he's a crazy fearless thing and climbs everything. Luckily he hasn't badly hurt himself yet.

JustKeepSwimming · 03/06/2009 21:12

WME - been there, DS's done that

we got some foam tile things that fit together (like jigsaw pieces) and put them on the floor at the bottom of the stairs for a while. dug them out for ds2, but have put them away again recently. (now he's mostly learnt how to get down!).

i've heard if the bump comes out then it's fine - at least the swelling isn't going inwards IYKWIM.

he'll be fine, your nerves will recover. he will do worse.
your nerves will harden, eventually.

smallblessings · 03/06/2009 21:13

DC are still up, there off tommorrow for polling day so I thought I'd let them stay up and watch DVDs!

I am watching the apprentice - I have'nt moved off the sofa since 7.

Lazy night for me.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 03/06/2009 22:04

Christ I've done nothing today - proper slatternly behaviour. I got sucked into that thread about the girl with a baby plus twins with the asprin and 3 hour commute - wasted hours.
Have managed to teach DS how to get down off the sofa backwards into a standing position and then sit down on the floor from there rather than just hurling himself, so not an entirely wasted day

WME - hope DS is ok. As long as the lump is coming outwards then it's fine, any dents can potentially be worrying and should be checked.

Superwasher - you are living up to your name today

HMHB - here it is link

WME - do you have a thread? Have some suggestions for you (DS was an awful napper for months) but didn't want to post a huge waffle on here!

wastingmyeducation · 03/06/2009 22:26

Thanks Ali, here's my sleep thread all suggestions welcome!

Thanks everyone, I'm feeling a little more chilled. Luckily his danger-boy cousin is five months older than him and constantly bumping himself, so I know they're pretty resilient.

Yes, he's got a big sticking out lump. And it's hard not soft, glad I know to look for that now, soft swelling means fractured skull apparently. I knew about looking for drowsiness and vomiting, but wasn't sure about the actual bump lump itself.

I've brought the washing in, but that's me done for the day.

Tomorrow:-

  • put bags of stuff back in DS cupboard (won't get up loft this week)
  • breakfast, clear up
  • dry pots
  • check how long chicken will take for dinner
  • DS dressed
  • Me dressed
  • tidy hallway
  • playing and cuddlng
  • DS snack
  • DS nap
  • lunch, clear up
  • walk - vote! (Mayoral election, very important as BNP ahead in polls )
  • Aldi
  • take rubbish and recycling out
  • dinner - roast chicken
  • DS bath and bed
  • clear kitchen
  • put milk bottles out
  • soak feet

Ello.

Left you lot whilst depression took over. Pills are now working so going to attempt coming back

Friend from school asked if she could pop in for a cuppa she did give me an hour to get sorted (I think she saw the look of horror), and does generally accept me as I am, but was still terrifying.

Today

Books for at least one hour
Pick in washing
Wash a load
Put away clothes on bed (the pile gathered from round the house on my mad dash tidy)
Make DH do dishes
Hoover - done
Bleach loo - done

CherryChoc · 04/06/2009 10:02

Morning! I have my antenatal group coming over today and the house looks a tip! Luckily I know most of it will be quick to tidy if I just do it - so just quickly checking in here.

Clean kitchen
Have breakfast
Wipe over bathroom
Hide washing pile in bedroom
Tidy living room
Run to shop to get coffee/milk/biscuits

I have 4 hours!
