God I'm knackered! Friends round which was fine, except one of them, her toddler is turning into a real 'un-pleasure' to have round. think all she did was whinge/scream/wail/tantrum It's getting so bad that i don't really want to invite them anymore!

cikecaka · 13/03/2009 17:29

Oh poor you JKS, nothing worse than having to sit there and grit your teeth,

JustKeepSwimming · 13/03/2009 17:36

I know i don't know what to do anymore as i find myself wishing the mum is too busy to come round or almost ignoring her when she wants something as i don't like her

cikecaka · 13/03/2009 17:40

Is she a close friend, or is she someone you met through school/preschool

JustKeepSwimming · 13/03/2009 17:46

I met her through my bf group which we went to together when our (now) toddlers were 0-1. then we both pg again and wen to bf group together again.
In the meantime we had got together with other mums, mixture of bf & AN groups and we see each other several times a week.
I just find i can't tolerate her DD (her younger DD is lovely, 9mo) anymore and i probably show it too i'm not good at hiding my emotions and i'm sure my eyes roll at some of her antics.
Also, well prob the main thing is, the mum seems to pander to her soooo much.
in a situation when i would say 'tough' to my ds1 she goes all out to do/get whatever her DD wants.
and there is full on screaming when she's 'upset'.
sorry to go on, may start a thread asking for advice on how to deal, except i don't want to get flamed for being judgey

FAQinglovely · 13/03/2009 17:47

ARGHHHHH - DH turned up - dropped the KFC and some other stuff off and has dashed again to my old place to fix the door (was fine this morning when I popped in.........)

cikecaka · 13/03/2009 17:51

FAQ , dont you know by now that men are single minded and would never think of anything else than the one thing that concerns them!

FAQinglovely · 13/03/2009 17:53

oh I'll let him off - just peeked inside one of the bags he bought with him 3 presents all wrapped up for me - one says it's from DS3, one from him and he's forgotten to write in the 3rd but I'm guessing it's "from" DS1 and 2

cikecaka · 13/03/2009 18:02

. Cant remember last time DH bought me a present, lately I buy my own pressies from DCs, purposely didnt buy any presents for my birthday last month to try and make him feel bad, that lasted about 5 mins and forgotten about it now

FAQinglovely · 13/03/2009 18:27

ok I'm panicking slightly now - need to bath and wash my hair, dry it and straighten it and put some make-up on (rare occurrence for me).

Still need to sort the food - but don't want to do that until after I've bathed so it's still warm when it goes on the table - but at this rate it's still going to be in the oven when they start arriving.

Need to finish tidying and hoover too.

JustKeepSwimming · 13/03/2009 18:30

I would say sod the hoovering, they won't notice, and keep tidying to a minimum of chucking stuff in a cupboard/box in a corner.

Go and have a quick bath and get yourself sorted

A smiling, welcoming hostess counts for tons more than a hoovered carpet IMO

JustKeepSwimming · 13/03/2009 21:04

DD1 is 10, DD2 is 9 and DD3 is 2, also have a Ds who is 12. they are more DD2s friends as she is becoming more sociable and didnt like to say no when she asked
