roomba either picks them up and then you easily remove them cos box is small and you see everything

or

he pushes them away

or

if they are ig he objects and stops

I like the look of that robomop.
Why does it say it's 'gifts for men'?!
roomba sounds good too

colleague at work has a cheaper version of the roomba, can't remember what it's called but it was only 40 quid. He says it's good too! (mind you he lives on his own, no kids or toys)...

jellyshoeswithdiamonds · 15/10/2008 11:06

If you put him to go everyday, how often would you have to empty the collecting box thingie?

chloemegjess · 15/10/2008 11:21

I want one! Csn't affrod £200 though especially as we already have a moden dyson AND my NEW phone got stolen at the weekend.

Would be really interested to hear about this cheaper alternative though.

I am so awful at housework. I just hate it!

paddingtonbear1 · 15/10/2008 13:33

I found a link! It's one of these:

here

jellyshoeswithdiamonds · 15/10/2008 16:39

So is the £40 one as good as the Roomba? OMG I'm so tempted....

KatieScarlett2833 · 15/10/2008 16:44

My DH spilt red wine on mine last night. I was very, very cross, made him clean Noo Noo thorougly and apologise (to the Noo Noo).

It's like my third child.

chloemegjess · 15/10/2008 19:35

paddingtonbear - have just ordered one! What a bargain! Even if it just does upstairs (where there are no rugs), that is still a cheap hoover! Thanks for that!

QOD · 15/10/2008 19:43

I love my robot, this one is called Ruby

She cleans all day, then when we get home, dd finds her & gives her her tea.

chloemegjess · 15/10/2008 19:58

For anybody who has the cheap one. Do they go up and down rugs? I have a rug in my hallway (like a runner thing), one in my living room and one in the back room! It is actually tempting to get rid of the rugs specially!

And I just realised that I do have one upstairs now, DD has a pink one in her room! Am I going to regret buying this hoover? It is coming tomorrow which is quick considering I ordered about an hour ago!

Bloodystumperlicious · 15/10/2008 19:58

I would love one of these, however there is no way I could justify one, plus I am always a bit creeped out by mechanical things that do things on their own. I don't even like screen savers!

paddingtonbear1 · 15/10/2008 23:07

wow chloe that is quick!! please do report back and say how you find it.
will ask colleague about rugs. not sure if he has that problem!

Cheeseandseveredfingersarnie · 15/10/2008 23:19

i want one.chloe i'll wait to see how you get on with that one!

Housemum · 15/10/2008 23:52

Adding a post to keep this on my threads as I want to know how Chloe gets on (though am concerned that 3 times its value in Playmobil, Lego, Polly Pocket might knacker its insides on its first trip)

CandleQueen · 16/10/2008 00:08

I sooo want one of these, am considering sneakily putting it on my credit card - not good for marital relations but I'll have clean floors!!!! (hairy yellow, lab 3 dc's and dh, the mess is awful).

I had a look and looks like you can get one for quite a bit less than £200 but they're from sites I've not heard of before, would you trust your cash to these people or is it best to go with someone reputable and you know you'll get after care too?

laurasmiles · 16/10/2008 14:22

How noisy is it? I have seen a clip on you tube of a ROOMBA on hardwood floor and it sounds like a B52! I'm tempted but I don't want something really noisy.....what do you think?

jellyshoeswithdiamonds · 16/10/2008 15:00

chloe ~ how is the new addition to your home? Do tell!!!

chloemegjess · 16/10/2008 15:07

Mine came today! It is on charge. I don't know how long to leave it though and how to tell when it is fully charged? It isn't the roomba, its the £40 one. Anybody know? I want to use it! Although will have to find a room that isn't full of crap though first!

chloemegjess · 16/10/2008 15:13

I saw a noisy clip too. But most hooovers are noisy, its just that as you are activly using them, it doesn't annoy you as much. I plan to eventually be able to put it on downstairs when I do the school run and upstairs when I am downstairs.

Mine gives you the option for a large, small or medium room. Does this mean I can only do one room at a time or can I say large and let it do all of downstairs?

chloemegjess · 16/10/2008 15:27

Also, it has come with a virtual wall tool, which you can set up to stop it going out of the room, or if you have an area you don't want it to go (like if there was lego all over the floor). I thought that was pretty good for £40
