I am really really really sick of my friend

Shes been making sly digs about my house for ages, and today she outright said she didn't want a drink because there were no clean cups in the cupboard. They were on the side pilled up waiting to be washed I was going to rinse it out, there were 2 with mould on them but obviously I would give her a non mouldy recent one which I would rinse. Her dds cardigain dropped on my floor and she made a big show of shaking crumbs off it - just got I dont hoover as much as her, there is no need to be nasty about it. not sure how to deal with her now, am very hurt and angry.

Ditch her. Life's too short to have 'friends' who drag you down.
I got a childhood friend out of my life as her negative, nasty behaviour was stressing me out and making me anxious. Felt SO much better.

If you are happy with your house, ignore it.
Tell her you are cultivating the mould for medical research

Perhaps only see her on nuetral territory so it's not an issue.
If she is being really nasty, just avoid her all together.

Mould in cups is quite nasty though, your cups must have been unwashed for quite a while.

it's bad enough when you find a bottle of old milk that one of dc has hidden when you move sofa to clean under

I'm wondering that, elmo. The mouldy cups are giving off a slightly dodgy whiff to me.

Though in principle I think you should not make a big deal of that kind of thing when you're at a friend's house, unless you know they are struggling badly and might appreciate some help.

Think you need to have a bit of a clean up. It has happened here before (am slattern, was not raised for housework and feel about as obligated to chores as I do to my local branch of Halfords) but it still has to be cleaned up. You can't blame people for not liking it - you can blame people for being rude instead of offering you a hand.

i do think though that even if you do ditch her...every other visitor to your home may well refuse a drink as well if they see mank around.

A woman I worked with had mouldy cups on her desk, and ate pilchards from the tin at her desk for lunch. She then had the gall to complain about the smell of my verr' nice Clarins body lotion when I came back from swimming one day...

habbibu, ds has taken to depositing dd bottles between wall and couch. usually when she's still drinking them

then we all play find the bottle. could be anywhere thou. there's 5 sofa, several toy boxes, plenty of cupboards.

sometimes i cant be bothered listening to dd screeming and will just get her another, then forget to find it later.

You know how it is, a cup lyes somewhere (a bedside table for ex) only takes a week or so to grow a bit of mould. Its hard to clean then so I pop a bit of boiling water in the cup and leave it on the side, nothing wrong with that, its just soaking. Then when the film bit comes away from the bottom I just pour it down the toilet and wash it normally. I was going to give her the cup I had used that morning and rise it out obviously. In the past shes mentioned skid marks on my toilet, erm sorry love but I dont have time to run around the loo every 5 mins just incase someones done a poo. She hoovers every day...every flippin DAY, what an obsessive

But if not then I'm afraid I agree with your friend, and I speak as someone for whom domesticity does not come naturally.

There is no excuse for mould in cups - it would take quite a few days to cultivate that. And surely no-one is struggling that much that they can't wash a few cups (rincing alone is not sufficient) after all if you have time to post on mumsnet you have time to do the washing up.

Thought that I'd better point out that although I advised OP to ditch critical friend, it doesn't mean that I approve of her mouldy old cups . Sorry OP.
