Hi, what do you all think about the new M&S rewards on the app ? Tbh I preferred the money off like 20% off items
what do you all think ?

Thanks op just had a look. I never used the money off stuff as it was always so random (something I’d just bought, meat when I’m vegan, kids clothes when mine are adults etc) so this looks more promising. Why they don’t do a straightforward points mean pennies thing like every other loyalty scheme I don’t know.

Sarahpainting · 15/04/2026 08:25

I’m so disappointed! I nearly always used my vouchers on clothing, I’ll be looking elsewhere now.

Tortephant · 15/04/2026 08:48

Haven't looked at it but I do know I never use the John Lewis and Waitrose ones as I don't eve think about looking at their apps and if I do the vouchers are either not worth the trip to use them or irrelevant to anything I buy. And if I am in a store I forget about it.
If the M&S one is similar it's probably a way of downgrading redemption to save them money.

goingtotown · 15/04/2026 09:00

Prefer the 20% off discounts.

Swissroll12 · 15/04/2026 09:03

I loved the old rewards , I used them for everything especially clothing , I think so many customers won’t be happy

Oh not happy about that at all.
i often used the 20 % off. If I needed new bras etc. I would often wait until it came up on the 20% offer

Manifesto · 15/04/2026 23:00

I don’t like them and like previous posters would prefer 20% off.

Interestingly a M&S assistantstold me they had been trialling it with staff…. Who had all given the feedback that they preferred the 20% off version!

ImDuranDuran · 15/04/2026 23:11

Awful.

The previous version was shit but it’s just got even worse.

TofuTuesday · 16/04/2026 12:02

I could get on board with offer like % off if there was a way to set up a profile - I’m never going to buy meat, never going to buy kids clothes etc

cramptramp · 16/04/2026 12:06

I prefer the 20% off.

Fluffywithteeth · 16/04/2026 21:53

tbh the new rewards system feels so mean spirited it has totally put me off buying anything at m and s! Just feels like they’re taking advantage of a loyal customer base . I’m already looking elsewhere - found some very nice jewellery in John Lewis (all the same price point as m and s), h and m earrings same fashion forward but half the price and essentials jewellery (a chain I’d never stepped into before) had some bargain ‘gold’ starfish necklaces. Between asos , Uniqlo, next and Zara I reckon I can find my affordable fashion fix until m and s shows some loyalty back to us ladies who have helped it achieve its success. Would love to hear where people are going as alternatives (if you are!) x

CurdinHenry · 16/04/2026 21:56

It at least solves my marks Vs John Lewis dilemma!

Iwiicit · 16/04/2026 22:33

I can't imagine I'll be tempted to spend £6 on jars of pickles to get £1 off anytime soon!

ThePoshUns · 16/04/2026 22:37

I much prefer the periodic 20% offer, even when they normally started after I’d made a load of purchases.

MadisonAvenue · 16/04/2026 23:08

I’m another who preferred the 20% offers.
Sparks has never been that brilliant anyway, and it was a shame that they stopped the 12 Days Of Christmas.

topcat2026 · 16/04/2026 23:29

I think it’s an improvement overall and wires if you were going to buy those items anyway that you can get rewards for. I buy their jeans and fresh fish so that’s great to (indirectly) get money back for buying those items. But a basic pounds spent = points scheme would have been much better. I guess they crunched the numbers and estimated they’d make more money from this new rewards thing rather than people using points to get money off their lucrative (and mostly expensive) food range.

The Nectar app is very good at identifying what you buy and targeting offers. M&S sparks has always been rubbish. They've had feedback for years saying that.

Besidemyselfwithworry · 17/04/2026 00:00

I’ve literally just looked at my M&S app and if I spend £10 on salad and sandwiches I get £1 off
how boring
20% off kids/wine/flowers/jeans/underwear/shoes is much more useful

pizzaHeart · 17/04/2026 00:03

So does the new system mean that if I’m spending say £5 on apples and oranges today I will get £1 reward added AFTER and then need to spend it reward later on something?

it’s my real reward by the way : spend £5 on apples, pears and oranges , earn £1 reward

TheCurious0range · 17/04/2026 00:05

I miss the app advent calendar

PickAChew · 17/04/2026 00:09

Basically, with the old system, I could spend £6 on frozen veg and instantly get a pound off. Now I have to spend £6 on frozen veg to get a pound credit to use later. They're banking on us forgetting.

GrimDamnFanjo · 17/04/2026 00:11

Not happy was waiting for a discount code to buy a load of clothes. Will go elsewhere.

Gingercatlover · 17/04/2026 00:12

Nah nothing in this week for me,
‘I am not spending £5 on biscuits to get a £1 off.

Old 20% discounts were so much better.

only people I have seen saying they like the new version are the influencers that were invited to the roll out earlier today.

namechange269 · 17/04/2026 06:56

What annoys me is you have to activate or load on the offers which I never remember to do - why can’t it be automatically available

Motnight · 17/04/2026 07:01

Agree with others, it was the 20% off clothes etc that I used. What a pity 😔
