Hi, what do you all think about the new M&S rewards on the app ? Tbh I preferred the money off like 20% off items
what do you all think ?

I agree @Stelladid. I used to wait for that and buy a few items like 5 pairs of jeans for £100 when the 20% off was on . It suited me. Obviously didn't suit M&S This is too much brain work to be bothered.

The New Sparks deal has finally broken my loyalty as the first go to place for certain things. The quality of their knickers is poor now so I now go elsewhere for them. I used to check the rewards frequently and if there was 20% off something I needed then, or in the future, I would get. I don’t bother checking now.

Plus it was via Sparks that the hack not so long ago compromised our data. They have probably reduced rewards to pay back the millions they lost in revenue when they went offline for a long time.

I miss the old 20% friends and family vouchers that came through the post.

I’m in two minds. The old version irritated me. My offers were almist always on something I’d just bought. Buy a pair of trainers then here’s 20% off trainers. Hardly anything for food which is my main spend. The new one I get a lot of offers for stuff I don’t buy. I’ve managed to get £40 in my sparks account so far and I’ll probably keep that for xmas. TBH the only scheme that’s got it right is Boots. Points=cash. Keep it simple stupid.

I’ve found that the basics in Uniqlo are similar quality to M&S and usually at least 20% cheaper so I’m getting my stuff there these days.

I find that a lot of things at Uniqlo actually cost quite a bit more than M&S but so much nicer and better quality.

I used to dress almost exclusively in M&S (partly because there's a big retail park store on my way home from work so it was easy) but I increasingly found that a lot of the things I tried on were nice, but I wanted them to be a bit longer/shorter or their colours were just dull.

Also increasingly badly made. I tried on a skirt that was lovely but really badly sewn and cheaply done (no lining even at the waistband). It was £46 for two rectangles of fabric sewn together so Primark quality for M&S prices. I've actually vowed to have sewing lessons so I can make things like this myself so they fit well and are better made. I only really buy jeans there now, which are still quite good, well priced and in a good range of sizes/lengths.

I actually love it. My offers have really suited me and I’ve bought summer clothes around the offers. I have £50 to re-spend so far.

I've got £9 so far, for me it's definitely better than the old system which I never really got any use out of.

I see they’ve extended the period to claim the reward.

I liked the spend £10 on fruit and veg to get a £1 reward. Their food is always good quality and it was an incentive to eat more healthily.

Go for it. I started sewing 5 years ago because the women who did very minor alterations (like shortening pants, maxi dresses etc) stopped doing it. I bought a cheap machine and joined a sewing class. Within about 8 months I was doing so much more than minor stuff and the teacher told me that I needed a decent machine as the cheap one was holding me back. I now make nearly all of my own clothes and it’s a joy being able to choose from a wide range of fabrics and prints. If you decide to go ahead, there is a big sewing community on YouTube, it includes lots of tutorials too, often on making specific garment patterns.

I do often walk through markses thinking "I could make that." even the menswear is poorly put together. DS1 has a few things from there and I often have to re-stitch seams after just a couple of wears.

Me too on the “I could make that “! But because I do make most of my own clothes, I haven’t noticed any poor seems. I do sometimes buy their jeans, pyjamas and vest tops (I can’t be bothered making those) and I have found the standards fine.
