Good morning folks - sad to say there was no decluttering done yesterday but then I did do a longer shift than usual & had other stuff going on.The chap who wanted to buy my amber ring has got back in touch & is letting me know when he will draw the money out. That will be very useful as funds are really down this month. I have nearly the whole day free tomorrow so might start tackling the kitchen.

stealthninjamum · 09/10/2025 10:54

Thank you @TidyClutterIsStillClutter after years of doing it, it’s good that it’s organised but now it’s empty it’s obvious I need to decorate it and buy new carpet. It has an old carpet/ rug I’m putting in the garage in my tip pile and today I chucked out some papers and I think it’s done.

from today I start doing 5 minutes a day in the playroom util that’s done.

Outs

3 pairs of pyjamas

Total this year: 1066

LR47 · 09/10/2025 12:26

Wow, getting paintings up must have made a difference and made it feel like a proper room rather than a room of doom. Can we have a competition to re name it?

IncessantNameChanger · 09/10/2025 14:22

Listed more on Vinted but again there's not much interest. Now I have 3 of the big ikea blue bags hanging around. Some things like a brand new little white company dress and Christmas jumpers I will hang on to until the end of the year. But debating if I should do a wardrobe spotlight or just get rid?

Not done wardrobe spotlight before but I suspect none of these things are going to sell.

Have you tried putting them into bundles but then on the advert put, ‘happy to split the bundle to suit specific tastes’?

People like to see a bundle to think they’re getting a bargain rather than having the scroll through someone’s ‘wardrobe’ to make their own bundle if that makes sense?

IndianSummer78 · 09/10/2025 15:50

Dried up unusable eyeliner gel
Half a packet of expired seeds that won't grow
Two 20yr expired antiseptic meds

Total is 4051

IncessantNameChanger · 09/10/2025 16:29

Yes I could do bundles. I already bundle up tops and tshirts. I will give that a try. Not really wanted to sell things for £1 as I can't walk to any posting places and they aren't on my usual driving routes either. If I was a few streets from posting options I'd just reduce it all to £1 then donate after a week..people tend to buy 1 £1 item and don't bundle up.

EllieQ · 10/10/2025 08:52

Can’t remember the last time I posted on here - I was ill for the last couple of weeks of September with a bad chest infection and I’m still not fully recovered. DH had it before I did, so we’ve had four weeks of illness in the house. Very behind on housework as a result, never mind decluttering. My total for September was a paltry 3 items 😞 I’ve decluttered three items of DD’s outgrown clothing so far this month, but have bought her five new (from Vinted ) things so more coming in than going out so far. Oh well, just need to keep plodding on.

I also struggle with DH and DD (mainly DH if I’m honest) hindering the decluttering process. DH is both reluctant to get rid of things, and very slow to take action when he does decide to get rid of things!

TidyClutterIsStillClutter · 10/10/2025 11:41

Contents of another cardboard box sorted and tidied away. Empty box given to DD for sorting her new flat.

I'm lucky in that I live within walking distance of the postage options I offer, but I got fed up of some stuff cluttering up the house waiting for a Vinted buyer and sorted the low priced items out and boxed them up for the charity shop.

Lo and behold something sold for a pound that has been listed since January 🙄

I was just about to delete it! I think I'll bundle some of the others and give them a last chance.

IncessantNameChanger · 11/10/2025 11:41

I think I have about £40 worth on there atm which is a massive Ikea bag taking up room. Things that sell for me go within 24 hours or 48 at a push so I'm pretty tempted to donate the vast majority or it. I have two or three things new for dd that I'm pretty sure she will never wear I bought in previous next sales. I don't do that any more. I only buy dd what she asks for when she asks so nothing remains unworn.

Trying to convince myself that's a better saving overall. Now dd has less she ruins more things too so less likely to sell going forward. Plus I never sell the boys clothes as it doesn't shift

CherryRipe1 · 11/10/2025 12:05

Threw out 3 pacamacs that had disintegrated. Listed a couple of things on eBay & bagged up a few more bits for the charity shop.

BunnyLover7 · 11/10/2025 12:13

Just put another top in the charity shop bag - must do a “ run” today

CheesePlantFeet · 11/10/2025 19:12

Tidied 3 shelves in the kitchen and used 2 small storage boxes I emptied in the great under stairs cupboard tidy to corral the chargers and wires. Tidied up the recipe books and the random letters from school

Charity shop: lamp

Bin / recycling: gift box, recipe book, old boots, pile of letters

Total 1734

BunnyLover7 · 11/10/2025 19:43

Did a run to the Air Ambulance shop. There’s still a bag of stuff in the hall as I forgot to take it & a big hula hoop that the guy wouldn’t accept as it’s a bit bent - will put that out with the bins I think.

Pigtailsandall · 11/10/2025 19:52

Oh dear. I've had an incredibly busy.... little while, and just realised I haven't posted since last Saturday. But the good news is that today, after taking DC to their class and then to a cafe lunch, the whole family pitched in and we got a lot done. DH tidied the garden and our office a bit, made dinner and baked with dc, and I went through the said child's clothes and room and deep cleaned it. I think the last day I posted was day 276, so days 277 to 283 (today) would have seen out:
Bundle of school leggings (think 4)
Bundle of pants (about 10)
Bundle of socks (about 10)
A big space activity book and a notebook, both filled up and recycled
Kids straw hat, sady binned as too small but also mangled
Baby socks, those funny ones with big pom poms at toes - not sure how I've missed those
Lots of drawings
Lots of magazines
Few instruction manuals
Pair of my holey socks

So I think we can definitely call that one a day. I have some really cute kids t-shirts that won't fit next summer and just wondering if I should bother listing them on Vinted or just give away to someone.

Really efficient that you went immediately. I have a pair of jeans that look terrible on me, and a dressI wore o work that I didn't like, and I'm wondering if I can be bothered to go for just 2 items. They are bulky though.

Vinorosso74 · 12/10/2025 08:19

This week has been busy again so really not getting time to do what I really need to as they're are all larger tasks. It's been things like taking the soft plastics to the supermarket recycling just to get something out.
I'm going to visit my parents for a few days this week so no decluttering will happen. I think I will make a (realistic) list of what needs doing over the following week or so then once I'm home, can get those jobs ticked off.

IncessantNameChanger · 12/10/2025 10:57

I have sold one pair of kids slippers for £1 on Vinted which I think has inspired me to donate the rest next week. I have to drive to post them.

I have ordered some of my oldest sons Christmas presents off TU as they have a 25% sale off and he has taken all of his underwear to Uni so no idea how he will cope when home at Christmas. Got to dig through his brothers I guess?
