I’m definitely winning the attitude battle (albeit still drowning a bit in stuff). Three things that had got a bit damaged in our building work just straight into the bin. Some party decorations straight into the bin. I’m still trying to reuse and give away where possible but being tougher makes sense to me as reclaiming my house!

Realfastfoodie · 21/09/2025 19:55

Well done everyone keep it up. I’m wondering if I will ever make it to the baby bank 🤞

Acheyelbows · 21/09/2025 21:45

Black bin had some space in it tonight so binned two pairs of worn out runners and favourite slippers that have served their time, paint stained and scruffy.
Receipts and envelope recycled.
Duplicate resources recycled.
Four folders packed to be brought to work for repurposing.

Some clothes ordered for cooler weather, will try to do one in - one out, if I'm happy with them when they arrive. I have a lot of items that I may never fit in again and probably aren't my style now anyways. I also have going out clothes that never get worn and a DH who is happiest at home. As the youngest gets older we might get out once in a while again.

LR47 · 21/09/2025 22:32

put 5 items on Vinted - if they don’t sell, I’ll give them away
sold a Vinted item and will post tomorrow but I already counted it
1 work out felt tip in the bin

total outs 974

BunnyLover7 · 22/09/2025 13:00

Added a cushion to the charity pile yesterday. I’m trying to find a home for the contents of a couple of bags for life & really must start on the storage cubes. DD16 tends to use them as litter bins so there’s loads of crisp packets & chocolate bar wrappers.

FinallyGetRid · 22/09/2025 14:37

Very small steps today - a handful of old manuals and the Christmas decs were finally put in the attic - won't be long before they need to come out again!😂

IDareSay · 22/09/2025 15:04

I have thrown away some more of dd1s year 2 school work. I just need her to look at a few pages from her year 5/6 books and then I can throw them out. She used to write amazing stories and poems that got published in the school’s annual review and it would be a shame to throw them out.

i have also decided four dvds can go. And a plastic bit that was probably part of a Hama beads set.

im just loading two carrier bags of stuff into the car for when I next go past a charity shop

BunnyLover7 · 22/09/2025 19:27

Found a bag of classical music CDs in the boot, passed on to me from an ex colleague, so I’ll sort them out & see if there are any I want to keep.

BunnyLover7 · 22/09/2025 19:28

Oh yes - DVDs! Got a drawerful & hardly ever watch them. Another sort out!

Vinorosso74 · 22/09/2025 21:08

Not had the chance to do much today but sent off some bras for recycling.

IndianSummer78 · 22/09/2025 22:39

One stained t-shirt gone. Total is 3958

I used to love going to see live bands in pubs but same as others nobody to go with now. I only buy basic clothes now, even if people go out they still don't dress up much round here.

CheesePlantFeet · 23/09/2025 07:59

Finally listed some more clothes on vinted last night, and 2 had sold by this morning. Need to list some more today

Charity shop: 4x tops

Bin / recycling: strappy top, coat hanger

Vinted/sold locally: Slippers, trousers

Total: 1606

BunnyLover7 · 23/09/2025 08:57

I really want DH to clear out his office - he did do some sorting when he moved his “turbo bike” from the garage but there’s loads more to do. The filing cabinet hasn’t been tidied for ages.

BunnyLover7 · 23/09/2025 12:12

I have a few bits of gold, probably not hugely valuable, but going to take them to a local hotel after work tomorrow where they have experts visiting for the day. There’s 3 rotary watches &1 has a matching bracelet (18K gold I think). I had the bracelet & watch for my wedding but never wear them & there’s slight damage to the watch face.

BunnyLover7 · 23/09/2025 12:14

Oh & I threw out some sheet music too - a colleague very kindly picked it up for me as her DH works in a charity shop but it’s not really my cup of tea.

Vinorosso74 · 22/09/2025 21:08

Not had the chance to do much today but sent off some bras for recycling.

Can I ask how you recycle bras? It's the one thing I've always been forced to bin

Pigtailsandall · 23/09/2025 14:05

Ok, I did a smallish clear-out on Sunday but felt very unenthusiastic about it. I shredded and recycled papers, threw out lots of kids crafts, broken crayons, dried pens and cardboard boxes, and dh went through his magazines. I think the last day I posted was day 256, so since then I filled up a textile recycling bag and out went 5 school tops (I decided I'd keep just 5 polos and 5 jumpers), 3 pyjama/sleep tops and small moisturiser pot I finally used up. I think that should bring us up to day 265!

I'll try to stay more on top of the "1 item a day" idea but I'm feeling so extraordinarily tired that I'm thinking of going in to ask for some blood tests.

stealthninjamum · 23/09/2025 14:39

@Pigtailsandall I think charities like oxfam take second hand bras, some specialist lingerie shops also ‘smalls for all’

Now the Room of Doom has a bit more space I have started to empty my things that are in exh’s study. (I’m ashamed to admit I actually have two rooms of doom!) I have moved a computer box into the Room of Doom wardrobe now that’s clearer and I have decided to throw out two boxes that laptops came in. In the Room of Doom I continued clearing out and shredding papers.

im also donating a summer dress that I don’t like very much.

I send them here, you need to pay P&P but, as someone who's had breast cancer, I don't begrudge the postage. You may have a bin near you but it looks like they're mostly in offices or fancy bra shops

Bra Recycling - Against Breast Cancer

Our bra recycling scheme needs the bras you no longer wear to fund pioneering secondary breast cancer research.

IndianSummer78 · 23/09/2025 17:53

One top that's too small
One highlighter makeup used up

Total is 3960

declutteringonedayatatime · 23/09/2025 18:24

Finally donated two bags to the local charity shop so the hallway looks eerily empty 😂.

I haven't done a lot as been busy/recovering from Covid. Need to find the va va voom to continue.

mutleyschuckles · 23/09/2025 20:13

3 old & totally worn out bras (but 4 new nice ones arrived today!) 2 parcels sent out on vinted & just sold some old robot hoover spares I won’t use now I’ve changed to a eufy so will send them out tomorrow. Was going to go through bedding but realised I already only have 2 sets for ours (1 on, 1 to wash) & the boy has a cover less duvet anyway so noting to chuck there. May go through the dog leads/collars stuff when I’m next off as he seems to have a lot of hook space dedicated to his bits.

stealthninjamum · 24/09/2025 10:39

Last night dcs agreed that another 6 dvds could go.

Currently abroad and my favorite running trainers sole is coming off. I can't remember how old they are? Cant find out either they are new balance and so old they are hip again! I'm beginning to suspect that our shoes don't store well in our porch as it's roasting in summer.

Any fail proof methods yo glues soles back on?
