I am joining as my whole house now just resembles a giant junk drawer & I am fed up with it. Never able to get back on top as the usual cleaning needs doing everyday!

Today I chucked 4 pairs of old shoes that had their day, decluttered 10 books some Ive read, some I will just never read. 2 old hoover batteries that have been sat by the front door for months waiting to go in the battery bin. A half done puzzle book that will never be completed.
Grand total of 17 - haven’t even made a dent. 😂

IDareSay · 15/09/2025 14:59

Running behind with posting but still decluttering.

W/E 07/09 (Week 36)
2025 – (1509 + 43 = 1552) = 473 to go

Digital
Two more old email accounts deleted (nice of google to remind me these still existed!) = 2

Stuff used up and not replaced
Gardeners hand scrub = 1

Recycled/binned
Box files of paperwork x 6 (passed on to more appropriate family member), scrapbooking items x 24 (passed to grateful family member) = 30
Glad to see this lot leave the house finally, been lurking in the loft for years.

Charity shop
Books x 4, trainers x 2 pairs, shirt, sarong, hairslides, plant holder = 10

Vinted
0 but lots listed

BunnyLover7 · 15/09/2025 15:00

Super proud of myself as I have just put a whole heap of loose recipes plus magazines to recycle without even looking through them! This is huge for me as usually I can’t bear to get rid of anything without scrutinising it first. Currently clearing out an extremely dusty magazine rack then onto a big storage box in the kitchen with yet more paperwork etc. Feeling great!

BunnyLover7 · 15/09/2025 15:44

Oh yes & deleting loads of E Mails as in my old account I let it reach over 300K!!

LivingInaBuiltSite · 15/09/2025 19:42

Well done @BunnyLover7 , my emails are piling up but thankfully nowhere near that amount!

Jobs:

  1. Hang up framed pictures: this has now changed to critically go through the framed artwork as we’ve agreed we don’t actually want all of it?
  2. my British passport application - passport application form; not started yet
  3. DS1’s gaming, PC, nerf collections to go through and tidy - going to wait until he leaves for uni
  4. Portfolio work - up to 83% completed and marked correct, approx 10% needs correcting, 9% not started yet: 1 practical question done today
  5. Bathroom redecoration: waiting for decorator to book a new date, still waiting: need to find a mirror and some artwork

Not quite outs yet:
floristry wire to a friend
running vest I don’t want anymore to another friend

Out:
actually finished a pen
7 emails deleted
675+8=683

Acheyelbows · 15/09/2025 20:54

Binned an old and damaged folder.
Used up 15 sheets of black paper.
Bag of summer items placed in textile recycling bin.
Packaging from new purchases recycled.
Two pieces of clothing returned to shop as I hadn't chosen to wear them since I bought them and couldn't be sure I ever would.
Week 2 resources sorted and stored in expanding file with no duplicates.
Christmas pen that came with an annual binned.
Frozen fruit used up in freezer...was there all summer.
Birthday cards recycled.
Compost bins filled with green waste.

BunnyLover7 · 16/09/2025 07:27

Sorted out my bag of books but kept them all! I’m really fired up now though & keep seeing more to do all over the house. I’m going to clear out the bottom of my wardrobe on Friday which is one of my days off. Will also think about advertising some party clothes & sparkly high heels as I keep getting e mails informing me it’s only 100 days til Christmas! There’s at least 3 pairs of evening sandals in the wardrobe & I can’t really cope with heels these days.

Vinorosso74 · 16/09/2025 11:32

Checking back in after a long and unplanned absence. My dad isn't well so I've been up with my parents quite a bit in the last couple of months.
Was looking for something in the cupboard and have managed to tidy it up a bit. I also discovered some Christmas cards so won't buy any more this year. I don't send loads but between DP and I we have enough.
I've started sorting through my autumn/winter clothes. One sweatshirt has an odd stain so that's going out, I need to try some things on and decide on them.
Got a few things to do today but I really need to list things to go whether freebies or for sale along with getting stuff together for charity shops.

CherryRipe1 · 16/09/2025 15:13

Last of the iffy freezer meat out for the foxes. I throw it near their den late at night. Caught one peering through our patio doors so suspect they know it's me, smart little things.
Sold a for spares or repair expensive but busted dvd HDD VCR thing. Couldn't believe it, kerching £40! Used up a mountain of my foam & bubble wrap packaging it up plus a big cardboard box. Old tub of vaseline used up to revive a leather couch with cracking areas. Hand steamer broke, think it's the heating element so that's gone in the electrical recycling but will have to replace it at some stage.

IncessantNameChanger · 16/09/2025 18:00

Gone down a wormhole of SEND complaints for dd again today and realised I wasted the entire day being outraged. Again.

Got two bags of clothes to go so will report that once I get to the tip

ComfortFoodCafe · 16/09/2025 18:58

Only did a little today but now have one organised drawer in my entire house, hurrah.

10 chinese tubs.
3 small tubs.
10 coffee pods that will never be used.
A waffle maker we havent used in 6 years.

Total 41.

BunnyLover7 · 16/09/2025 21:04

Binned a bag of textiles in the bin at school but forgot to take the bag of outgrown uniform to drop off, which is annoying as the PTA only open the second-hand store on Wednesday mornings, so I will have to wait for next week. I did take a bag of Brownie stuff to the leader last week as DD2 has decided she doesn't want to do it anymore (sob). She needs new trainers so that's a trip into town on Saturday afternoon and I can take a charity shop bag or two with us.

Getting stuff out of the house seems to be the hardest thing for me - I have very little trouble in deciding to get rid, but then I have bags of crap piled in the hallway for ages.

Also went through all the plastic food containers, binned anything without a lid and indulged my inner Monica Geller by numbering all the remaining lids and boxes.

ComfortFoodCafe · 17/09/2025 14:52

did half my kitchen today, I am on a roll. 😆

15 bottles of flavoured water that tasted like chemicals.
4 nearly empty bottles of pop - my kids never learn to chuck stuff away!
9 Misc cleaning items that was near enough empty.
A old cat drinking fountain mine hated.
A privacy fence thing we will never use.
4 wine glasses that had had their day.
2 vases I will never use.

More than that I emptied two bin bags full but thats all I can remember 😆

Vinorosso74 · 17/09/2025 15:56

Had quite a productive morning. Cleared and sorted out the bottom of my wardrobe. Some things in the decorating clothes bag, a bag filled for textile recycling, filled half a bin bag of rubbish too, a few bits nto recycling and I've started a charity bag.
I like it if I can get rid of things asap but that doesn't always happen!

FinallyGetRid · 17/09/2025 16:24

First trip to the charity shop, dump and car park clothes bin - feels good to get the first lot out the door.
Need to start collect more stuff for the next trip!

stealthninjamum · 17/09/2025 20:46

The room of doom looks likes it’s had an explosion of papers as I emptied a large box of them that was in the wardrobe. It’s mainly letters from school, meeting notes, lots of art work and a few special things to go in memory boxes. I’m still spending 5 minutes a day on it.

Yesterday I threw away a ribbon. It turned out it was special to dd2. I’d already emptied the wastebins into a big rubbish sack so had a lovely evening going through rubbish looking for it. Dd2s still not speaking to me.

LR47 · 17/09/2025 23:15

sold an item on Vinted - will post tomorrow
Cleared out daughter’s craft - got rid of 1 bag full to her school and recycled 1 full bag

total outs 968

IndianSummer78 · 17/09/2025 23:16

incessant if you can't bleach those stains out of the dress you could turn it yellow instead. All you need is a couple of those cheap yellow dusters, plus whatever isn't looking the brightest white any more, like that dress, t-shirts, old towels or bedding. Throw it all in the machine on a hot wash and it'll all come out looking rejuvenated in a nice shade of pale yellow.

From the past week:

22 craft stamps
5 die-cuts
1 embossing tool
1 book
6 magazines
1 small plastic box
1 document
3 scrap paper
1 eye mask
1 pair trousers that wouldn't even go past my thighs!

Total is 3951

CherryRipe1 · 18/09/2025 03:04

Sold some boardgames that have been languishing on eBay for months. Will pack and post tomorrow. Bag of stuff ready for the charity shop.

SydneyCarton · 18/09/2025 09:40

Remembered the second bag of textiles just as we were leaving for school drop off, so that's a bit more space in the hallway. I've got my eye on a few old jigsaw puzzles that can go in a charity bag for the weekend, plus some books and other bits

stealthninjamum · 18/09/2025 18:00

I threw out an old cardboard box that was in the room of doom wardrobe.

TidyClutterIsStillClutter · 19/09/2025 06:20

Gave away one small stainless steel milk jug.

A few more odds and ends into the paper bin.
