In June my name was 2in2022, I've changed my name.

Join us in building routines to make housework more manageable. Start out with the baby steps, add in the missions in each zone, it will eventually become second nature. Jump right in, you're never left behind!

This is a long running thread, but we are a friendly bunch and all are welcome to join in 😊

July's habit is swish and swipe. That's keeping your bathroom clean. Flylady explains in detail under FAQ.

https://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/fly-faq/#swish

Do NOT sign up for the Flylady emails - it's an excessive amount sent every day.

There are Baby Steps for starting out, add one thing at a time to start good habits and routines.
There are 5 zones that we will rotate through, don't worry about finishing it all this month, it'll come around again next month! Also, don't even look at missions until you reach that babystep. Or you'll tumble out the nest without wings. Flylady is NOT about perfectionism!

Daily missions: each day of the week has a different mission.
Monday: Home Blessing (or as we call it, home bleugh)
Tuesday: plan & play
Wednesday: anti-procrastination
Thursday: errand day
Friday: clean car & purse out a week. It's also date night (with your significant other, or friends, or yourself!)
Saturday: family fun day
Sunday: renew your spirit
Common acronyms we use:
LOL: load of laundry (washing is certainly NOT funny!)
DW: dishwasher, we are not rotating wives by any means, although an extra pair of hands could come in handy sometimes 😆
LMS: lose/lost my shit
DNLMS: did not lose my shit

There are more, feel free to ask us to explain something. I'll try to update links every day, although if you can, it's worth downloading the app, you can even have it send you notifications. I use it for the morning and evening routines, you can modify the tick lists to suit your home & lifestyle.

I'm a flybaby as I'm still taking my time over the baby steps been slowly building routines since march. So I've posted a link to babysteps, I've been working through. This link will take you to the website with everything on.

TaDa!!
Just had a mad half hour decluttering the bathroom.

SunshineAndSummerShowers · 19/07/2025 20:48

Hello

SunshineAndSummerShowers · 19/07/2025 21:15

Had a few problems posting for a while. Looks as though things are back to normal.

Had all the electrics safety checked which feels very reassuring. I have a long to-do list for when the electricians are next available. Lots of stuff still out of place or in the wrong room. It’s taking me longer than expected to straighten the place up because part of the kitchen ceiling fell in the next day after a lot of rain. Got that cleared up, DH fixed ceiling and did running repairs on the roof.

This weekend we are doing as little as possible.

SunshineAndSummerShowers · 19/07/2025 21:32

@CherryogDog Sometimes I feel like that too. I can picture how I want the place to look, and I’m absolutely stuck at the thought of deciding what to keep and what to let go.

Well done on the bathroom ta-da! I think I’ll do the same before I go to bed. At least I can take out the empty shampoo bottles.

Alwayslearning25 · 20/07/2025 07:28

Happy Sunday, rest and rest. We're going to my cousin's house to play. We have kids the same age, and is closer geographically than the rest of my family. The oldest 2 used to be best friends before they started different schools, they're still close, but lives are too busy, they haven't seen each other in months. She also has a lovely open-plan house.

Todays babystep is laundry. Flylady doesn't work well for us here as we don't have a dryer. I did a load yesterday morning that's not dry yet with the wet weather. We had it in a small room with dehumidifier. Generally I do a load of clothes every Wednesday and Friday, and bedding and towels gets done when we have energy/ weather is nice.... probably not often enough.

We're going out to a country show today once the horses and dogs are sorted.
So no flying for me today.
For the next week I'm concentrating on decluttering as much as possible, and cleaning the following week.
I'm in the process of turning my spare room into my study/music room, I sold the bed but the wardrobe (full of linen, towels, and other bits and bobs) , the side table plus everything that was stored under the bed is now stashed in my bedroom. Plus a clothes rail with all my coats on.
I'm having to move things to access my wardrobes/drawers, the upstairs landing has stuff for the charity all along one wall, I feel I'm drowning in "stuff"!
Have a lovely Sunday everyone, whatever you're doing.

DillyDeclutter · 20/07/2025 18:51

Not quite finished my plan for sorting DDs room but it's looking a lot better.

Summer holidays have started- downstairs is total chaos already and we haven't had any playdates yet! I forsee a lot of hotspot suppression in my near future.

cherry I love a good declutter, motivational before and after photos really help me!

Alwayslearning25 · 20/07/2025 19:17

Tadas:

Cleaned bathroom sink and bath, including putting the toothpaste coated toothbrush cup through the dishwasher. Ready it swish and swipe.
Put away half the laundry
Dishwasher on, sandwiches made (courtucy of DH)
Bins emptied

To do:

Finish putting away laundry
List item or 2 on vinted
Complete evening routine

HazelNotHungryLC · 20/07/2025 19:19

Cherry well done on cracking on with some decluttering! Hoarding shows etc seem to motivate me, in case you're needing some inspiration.

Dilly hopefully it'll be easier to keep on top of it all once you can get into a new routine, even if it's just while DC are out of school.

Sunshine sorry to hear about your roof and ceiling! I'm glad your DH was able to fix them both.

Alwayslearning25 spending time with your cousin sounds like a great day!

HazelNotHungryLC · 20/07/2025 19:23

We had a great camping trip, saw lots of wildlife this trip: deer and moose mainly, but I did also see lots of bats flying over us last night while sitting at the campfire. I also got to see a couple meteors, which was cool.

We are almost back to town after cleaning up camp. It shouldn't take us long to get everything put away and LOLs started.

Alwayslearning25 · 20/07/2025 19:51

It was as a nice afternoon, I felt very tired and at 4pm when we left ds, who had not napped long enough, asked, is it bedtime and had a danger nap for 2 hours.... when I did some tads and rested. Now we don't know when to put him to bed. His bedtime is loosely 7:15.

OP posts:
Alwayslearning25 · 21/07/2025 14:03

Good afternoon flybabies and fledglings.

Zone 4: Mission #1 Monday

This week we are in the Master Bedroom, today I want you to spend 15 minutes under your bed! Take this time to get the things out from under the bed that you have shoved under there during a mad stash and dash through the house.

15 minutes might not be enough, but for today just try to put a dent in the stuff that you have put there. Things that just don't belong. If you don't have anything under your bed, then grab a vacuum cleaner or broom and get the dust bunnies that have been multiplying under
here.

Todays babystep of read ask flylady https://www.flylady.net/d/br/author/ask-flylady/
Set a 5 minute timer and read an article or two.

It's all about house blessing (or blugh) which I've had a read of. We should get a system going that works for us. Definitely need to get my 7 year old more involved in housework now. She used to love following me about helping but since she's learnt to love reading, she's lost interest in cleaning and I didn't want to stop her reading.

Alwayslearning25 it's tough when they get thrown out of routine. What time did you end up putting DS to bed in the end?

YesTaDas:
😇 camper unloaded, everything put away
😇 bathed dogs
😇 showered
😇 LOLs x3, then had DS put a 4th load on
😇 clean clothes put away
😇 baked blondies
😇 went to BBQ, with said blondies
😇 got clothes out for the morning
😇 yoga
😇 bed at a somewhat reasonable time!

I'm at work today, so no ta das for today, I already know, even though it's not even noon here!

Alwayslearning25 · 21/07/2025 18:05

About 8 I think, or 8:45. I'm not great at times, but at the same time as big sister.

Nearly back to “normal”, and trying to clean and declutter for the car-boot sale.

Discovered that the mini fridge had been unplugged for the check, but not plugged back in. It’s where I keep things for weekend batch cooking, and rarely opened between times except to put the Sunday joint in. So it was absolutely putrid when I opened the door. Dealt with the food quickly, and giving a proper cleansing today.

Sat at a sunny window for a while, and watched the bees and butterflies on the buddleias.

Tbh, Losing my mojo a little and a bit overwhelmed. Will tidy bedroom and bathroom this morning, and put on a LoL.

Alwayslearning25 · 22/07/2025 12:35

Tuesday is plan and play, very fitting the babystep it to build your control journal which is your housework plan https://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/flying-lessons/control-journal/

The app is on track today but I can copy from it so I'll summarise. Attach that clothes pile by your bed eg on a chair. Set a timer and go. If you come across something you don't love, chuck it (or put it in the pile to sell on vinted/go to the charity shop if you care about the environment)

Personally clothes wise I need to sort school uniform as it's changing next year so I will list current ones on vinted and order some new.

Sunshine how frustrating re mini fridge. Hopefully not too much food was wasted? I know the feeling of losing my mojo as well, if you can just dive in and do a couple of things, it helps get some of it back at least. If nothing else, you know you did tackle one or two things and sometimes that's enough.

Alwayslearning25 I have a box going right now that I add to when I come across something I'm not wearing/ liking/ can't fit into, that I'll take to the charity shop once full. It's a good size box and it's almost full. I know there's more things I can get rid of because I keep bypassing them when I'm choosing outfits. I need to just make that decision!

To dos:
🚲 spin bike workout
🚲 laundry
🚲 bleach bathrooms
🚲 vacuum
🚲 mop
🚲 meal planning
🚲 grocery shopping
🚲 tend to the garden
🚲 paint my nails (polish was removed on Sunday because the top coat was yellowing and they looked gross!)

CherryogDog · 23/07/2025 00:00

@SunshineAndSummerShowers that's real bad luck with your fridge.
I'm like you with the lack of mojo.
I did scrub my sink and cleaned the limescale off the tap, planted out an Allium that's been beside the sink for about 3 weeks because of my procrastination.
I'm not sure it will survive, it was sitting in a dish and when I lifted the pot an awful stench came from the water. Fingers crossed 🤞
I've put my towels in my newly cleared out bathroom cupboard.
Just little TaDas, but going in the right direction.

HazelNotHungryLC · 23/07/2025 06:09

Cherry fingers crossed 🤞 your plant will survive. Hopefully it was just the stagnant water that you were smelling.

Ta das:
😇 everything on my to do list! 🥳 that doesn't happen very often, I usually miss at least one thing!
Laundry included sheets, mattress & pillow protectors, towels x2, gentle wash, whites. I also included the shower curtains when I cleaned the bathrooms (one in the bath with bleach as it's plastic, the other in the gentle wash).
I am going to bed a lot later tonight though than I want to. I just wish I had about 10 more hours in the day to get stuff done. That's not too much to ask, is it?!

Alwayslearning25 · 23/07/2025 12:50

But busy today but the babysteo to to create an afternoon routine. Or one to do as soon as you get in from work.

OP posts:
CherryogDog · 23/07/2025 20:23

I've cancelled my Anglo collection because I've still got stuff to sort out.
Had a sudden onset migraine which came out of the blue and wiped me out for the afternoon, so no flying for me today.
@HazelNotHungryLC well done on your TaDas. I'm trying to get to bed earlier, so I can get up earlier, but I've not been very successful so far.
Like tonight, I walked the dogs once it was cooler. Did a very short work out. Had a shower and now trying to find the energy to sort myself some dinner out.

Alwayslearning25 · 23/07/2025 22:02

I smashed a beer mug this evening and cut my hands, had to tweezer a tiny shard out of my finger but I can't even feel like cuts anymore. It bounced a few times first and I nearly caught it. so swept the kitchen floor a couple of times...and put outside on the wheelie bins an open box of laundry nearby and a baking tray both of which could have tiny shards in... put that's tomorrows problem. I didn't do any other housework.

OP posts:
DillyDeclutter · 24/07/2025 09:43

Morning

Day off today. Already moved three loads of washing around, rotated DW and dropped the car off for service.

Need to do some "deep decluttering" (that's what I call it in my head) - moving the things I've become blind to.

Hope the cuts are OK Always!

Alwayslearning25 · 24/07/2025 14:59

Todays baby step is to swish and swipe your bathroom, add it to your daily routine.

Mission is to clean and tidy your dresser. Good job I don't have one! But the bathroom is quite cluttered.

Todays focus is Thursday - errands.
