In June my name was 2in2022, I've changed my name.

Join us in building routines to make housework more manageable. Start out with the baby steps, add in the missions in each zone, it will eventually become second nature. Jump right in, you're never left behind!

This is a long running thread, but we are a friendly bunch and all are welcome to join in 😊

July's habit is swish and swipe. That's keeping your bathroom clean. Flylady explains in detail under FAQ.

https://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/fly-faq/#swish

Do NOT sign up for the Flylady emails - it's an excessive amount sent every day.

There are Baby Steps for starting out, add one thing at a time to start good habits and routines.
There are 5 zones that we will rotate through, don't worry about finishing it all this month, it'll come around again next month! Also, don't even look at missions until you reach that babystep. Or you'll tumble out the nest without wings. Flylady is NOT about perfectionism!

Daily missions: each day of the week has a different mission.
Monday: Home Blessing (or as we call it, home bleugh)
Tuesday: plan & play
Wednesday: anti-procrastination
Thursday: errand day
Friday: clean car & purse out a week. It's also date night (with your significant other, or friends, or yourself!)
Saturday: family fun day
Sunday: renew your spirit
Common acronyms we use:
LOL: load of laundry (washing is certainly NOT funny!)
DW: dishwasher, we are not rotating wives by any means, although an extra pair of hands could come in handy sometimes 😆
LMS: lose/lost my shit
DNLMS: did not lose my shit

There are more, feel free to ask us to explain something. I'll try to update links every day, although if you can, it's worth downloading the app, you can even have it send you notifications. I use it for the morning and evening routines, you can modify the tick lists to suit your home & lifestyle.

I'm a flybaby as I'm still taking my time over the baby steps been slowly building routines since march. So I've posted a link to babysteps, I've been working through. This link will take you to the website with everything on.

Sorry, 2 weeks in and I'm getting bored. Yesterday was family fun day, no missions. Baby step to continue your routines and declutter your emails. Baby step 13 today it to have a look at missions and zones on the website (or the comments of the app or Facebook page). So, I think we're onto zone 3 next week? It's also rest and recover.i didn't keep my resolution of planning nothing this weekend and took an extra work shift this afternoon. I mentioned to a colleague in looking forward to having absolutely nothing planned this weekend and she asked if I'd like her shift, to swap. Work is often quite restful and has Aircon, but DH is not too happy (dispite me checking it was ok with him). As he is doing the meal and school prep alone. DD also has her first school couch trip tomorrow, she's very excited. @HazelNotHungryLC hope you enjoyed camping.

DillyDeclutter · 13/07/2025 17:02

Ah, zone 3 contains all the rooms I prefer to avoid! I am going to take DD's room as my mission this week. She has lots of clothes in the next sizes but they are not very well organised. I have a storage solution planned (packing cubes in an old toy chest). I just need to implement it.

Weather is cooler here today, so we have been busy, been swimming and to the park.

always hope the shift goes well! I am always thinking how restful work is when I'm with the dc. It isn't really though!

Alwayslearning25 · 13/07/2025 17:49

@DillyDeclutter actually it really has been, not much to do so far, but still have 3 hours. Time is dragging through as I feel a bit bad for my family. Ds was napping when I left so I didn't say bye, DD and DH not too happy in working, but....next weekend is free.

OP posts:
HazelNotHungryLC · 13/07/2025 23:23

I like the whiteboard ED! I can imagine the heat from the Everhot not helping to keep you cool.

Alwayslearning25 my DH will do the same thing. Not speak up about a decision, then complain or make noises about him having to do more than normal. I think it might be a man thing!

Good luck on organising DDs clothes. I procrastinate about things like that all the time, then once I've done it, wonder why I kept putting it off!

Camping was a lot of fun, a quick trip, but nice to get away. We're headed back home now, we'll have to empty the black & grey tanks on the trailer on our way, empty the fridge and grab the dirty clothes. It won't take us long to be settled at the house, ready to get into the pool!

Alwayslearning25 · 14/07/2025 18:26

Sorry I'm so late. I did my morning routine properly, but it meant I didn't have time to post on here before work.

Monday is house blugh. I don't do this yet...more if an as and when than weekly. In September I am dropping a day at work and not working Mondays so will maybe take it up then...

We're also onto bathrooms and laundry rooms... good job I don't have one of those, we do have a kitchen cupboard with cleaning products including laundry. Todays mission is to throw out empty or expired bottles.

Todays baby step is read the essay on how to use a calendar.https://www.flylady.net/d/flylady-guide-on-how-to-use-a-calendar/ DH and I recently started using family on Google. I also have stickers for my paper calendar.

Loving all the TaDas, so inspiring!
Thankfully it's cooler and I feel a bit more energetic, although I'm still coughing myself inside out.
My ToDo was to clean my living room, by the time I've sorted the horses and dogs out I'm usually hungry, and once I've eaten it's game over.
So I had a cunning plan, I pulled all the cushions off the sofa, hoovered all the crumbs and crap that mysteriously lives there, before I left the house. So I'd have to finish it when I got home.
I got captured by a neighbour who likes to talk for ages about really negative stuff, then I needed to go to the post office.
So by the time I got home I was hangry and p'd off at needing to finish the job.
Had a banana, bashed all the cushions into shape, decluttered the horizontal surfaces, and left it at that.
Will hoover before I go out tomorrow.

HazelNotHungryLC · 15/07/2025 05:53

Yesterday we got everything put away from camping. DS got 1 LoL going, as well as finished packing for band camp. He left this morning & will be gone all week.

Back to work today (Monday still here), but then there was drama. DD got into a car accident, luckily she was local to us (was visiting a friend) and was transported to the hospital via ambulance. She's okay, sore, but nothing broken. She was a passenger, no other injuries at all. The other vehicle was at fault so their insurance should be covering it completely.

Tomorrow I have a few things I want to do, mainly laundry and general home bleugh, but also I plan on fitting in a workout, showering and applying self tanner, and possibly doing my nails. It might be a little long of a list, especially when we're going out for a date night once DH gets home from work 🤷‍♀️ we'll see!

HazelNotHungryLC · 15/07/2025 06:01

Cherry you had a great plan, too bad your neighbour put a spanner in the works! It sounded like you were able to get some of it done though, and doing little and often really makes it easier to keep on top of it.

Alwayslearning25 someone (I don't remember who now) on an older thread once said the home bleugh can be broken down and done throughout the week, so don't worry too much about getting it all done in one day. I do mine on Tuesdays since that's my day off during the week, and my working days are long so that's what works for me.

Alwayslearning25 · 15/07/2025 08:13

I did great with my morning and evening routine yesterday. But overslept today so morning routine, was jumbled and not complete. I do like the short timers, 3-5 morning and evening to do some tidying. I also felt energised with the cooler weather.

OP posts:
Alwayslearning25 · 15/07/2025 09:22

Good morning!

Todays babystep is to make your bed. Before you leave the bedroom, as long as no-one else is sleeping in your bed

Tuesday is plan and play. I need to book the dentist for my kids, it's overdue. DH and I have started to sit together on Wednesday evening to plan out life. Paper Dairy is at home today.

I am just explore app but today's mission hasn't been posted in the comments yet. I've also seen under the my progress app that zone 3 can also be kids bedroom, spare bedroom and office. So I guess, depending on your layout, it's upstairs excluding your own bedroom...for me anyway. Fortunately we don't have an office. We have a computer space in the living room (TV is linked to pc), but that's DH's and I rarely touch it. It's definitely his hotspot. Mine is the dining room. I have my own laptop that lives in a bag or a shelf.

On other news we bought a Vax and a breadmaker, giving our carpets new life! Only DH uses it. I find it a bit noisy and DD, who used to need headphones for us to hoover, got upset with the Vax.

OP posts:
HazelNotHungryLC · 15/07/2025 15:31

Someone has commented on the mission now, bathroom mission is to sort out your old worn out towels and get rid (animal shelters will take them!) You could also cut them up to use as rags for cleaning and toss them when you've used them.
In the laundry room, go diving behind the washer & dryer to find odd socks and dust bunnies.

HazelNotHungryLC · 15/07/2025 15:34

Well, so far this morning I got dressed into my workout clothes and I've drank one cup of coffee. I did pull back my sheets to air them out, and opened the bedroom window. However, I'll be washing the sheets today, in a few minutes actually! So I'll remake my bed later on.

I must get my 2nd cup of coffee, 1st LoL going and start my workout. I'm just dragging feet this morning, still waking up. It's just gone 8:30am.

Alwayslearning25 · 16/07/2025 06:26

Good morning,

Wednesday is antiprocastination day...is it? I need to book the dentist still.

Baby step is to read flylady morning musing. I really enjoyed todays one on the app. As someone here said, they can be a bit Marmite, but today's rang very true for me. I was going to give you a summery, but it's all about not cutting corners, or 'skating through life.'

I'm too early for the mission. Maybe if you have the app you could update this thread when it's on. But, what rooms have you chosen for zone 3? I think zone three really depends on your house lay out.

OP posts:
DillyDeclutter · 16/07/2025 07:15

Morning! Here's the mission from the Fb page:

Back to the bathroom we go. It is anti-procrastination day and it is time toss the old cosmetics that are out of date and out of fashion. Trust me very few people can get away with powder blue eye shadow and orange lipstick. Let go of these items that you have been hanging onto because "someday" you might use them.

For the Laundry room, mate up those old socks or toss them! If they haven't found their mate by now consider them legally separated and toss them out the door!

I do have one odd sock at the moment - I'm living in hope that its pair will turn up!

I have been quite good at not procrastinating lately but I must sort out the last few unbooked days of holiday.

Alwayslearning25 · 16/07/2025 07:24

I guess I should do ds room as zone three as that is where I dump odd socks and just out grown/ about to grow into kids clothing

OP posts:
DillyDeclutter · 16/07/2025 12:12

Oh I missed your question! Yes I'm doing dd's room. It is a dumping ground for ds' outgrown clothes and poor DD will never wear most of them!

She also has far too many stuffed animals but not sure I cam get away with decluttering any of those.

Alwayslearning25 · 16/07/2025 13:43

I was driving home from toddler group with an asleep toddler, thinking he's not gone to sleep long, he should transfer into the house, but no, he heard the front door, started crying that he didn't want to go home, he didn't want to leave the group. Then cried for tv. Id planned some things I can't do now.

Baby step 18....as far as I've got.

FlyLady has 11 commandments that will help you begin to FLY:

Keep your sink clean and shiny.

Get dressed every morning, even if you don’t feel like it. Don’t forget your lace-up shoes.

Do your morning and before-bedtime routine everyday.

Don’t allow yourself to be sidetracked by the computer.

Pick up after yourself. If you get it out, put it away.

Don’t try to do two projects at once. ONE JOB AT A TIME.

Don’t pull out more than you can put back in one hour.

Do something for yourself everyday, maybe every morning and night.

Work as fast as you can to get the job done. This will give you more time to play later.

Smile even when you don’t feel like it. It is contagious. Make your mind up to be happy, and you will be.

Don’t forget to laugh everyday. Pamper yourself; you deserve it!

Write them down somewhere or copy them. Choose one your not good at and focus on it today. Mine is to not get sidetracked by my phone (it is my pocket computer)

Have a great day!

DillyDeclutter · 17/07/2025 20:55

Busy day today, we were in and out a lot and made a LOT of mess. It was putting out full on fires not just hotspots this evening! All done now though and tidy.

Dds room is going okay, I have one last drawer to sort and then I need to decide how to store what I'm keeping and how to get rid of what I'm passing on. I have already given a friend with a likely aged child a massive bag of things and would be somewhat embarrassed to turn up with any more! I don't know how we have accumulated so many clothes.

In the process of all of this I have found many more odd socks.

Alwayslearning25 · 18/07/2025 07:16

I wrote today's babystep yesterday so today is yesterday's! It's to set yourself a regular bedtime, just like you do with your kids. It's selfcare. If you've got lots still to do near bedtime, just clean your sink, do your evening routine and you'll be in a better position to tackle it tomorrow. We've slacked a bit on bedtime.

I'll try and be back late with missions etc.

OP posts:
HazelNotHungryLC · 18/07/2025 18:01

Alwayslearning25 I really need to work on my bedtime, it's been very shocking this week! Thank you for posting the 11 commandments up thread, it's good to have a reminder and them listed out.

I really haven't done much flying at all this week, we've just been so busy with everything else!
We're going camping again this weekend, so again, nothing will get done until possibly Sunday.

Dilly I can understand feeling embarrassed about giving your friend even more clothes! However, are they different sizes to what you've already passed on to her?
I've also taken some clothes and toys in good condition to the daycare that my DC went to, they were perfect for if there were accidents or messy play etc, and they were very grateful, especially of clean underwear (and odd socks).

DillyDeclutter · 18/07/2025 20:42

Ooh socks to nursery Hazel that's a good suggestion. I'll take some in after the summer. Literally have 15 pairs of PJs, 20 pairs of leggings etc all in the same size as DS was in it for a while.

Well my car went in for a service so thought that's Clean Out Your Car sorted but they actually didn't do a very good job (and didn't fix the warning light either).

Dc came home from school with huge piles of books and papers which need a home - they can live on the dining table for a week or so though.

HazelNotHungryLC · 19/07/2025 02:35

Dilly that's really crappy they didn't fix the warning light! Isn't that their job?!
I did actually take my Jeep through the carwash today 😇 I have not cleaned out my handbag though.

DS is home from band camp! We are now on the road, loaded up for camping. Typically we're headed up the mountain when there's storm warnings 🙄 but it doesn't look like it's going to last, so it might be gone by the time we get up there.
Have a good weekend everyone!

Alwayslearning25 · 19/07/2025 11:52

Babystep 19 is reading the testimonials to keep you motivated...not sure where to find them though. Saturday is family fun day. We're having a chill day at home as it's raining. Ds toddler is a bit restless and destructive though, he's been to the shops and to look at trains with DH, he needs a nap. Got fresh bread and soup cooking. Might go out somewhere or choose a film...no missions today, I haven't done much on zone 3 though so will probably do some bathroom cleaning later. Maybe post some outgrown kids clothes on vinted. Esspecaly as my DDs as she had a growth spurt and didn't get much wear out of lots of clothes/ she's at the age where she has her favourite outfit or 2 and nothing gets worn much.

👋
I'm feeling so overwhelmed with how much stuff I've got, and trying to find a home for everything.
I've booked an Anglo doorstep collection for next week, and I've got family staying at the end of the month, so two deadlines.
I'm procrastinating too much.
This afternoon I have ruthlessly decluttered my sock drawer, and tidied my smalls drawer.
My laundry is up to date, I've got a LOL drying and everything is put away.
Although it's just a drop in the ocean compared to everyone else's TaDas, writing it down helps me see I've done something, although I still feel like throwing everything in a skip and beginning again.
