Getting back into routines can be hard, with DC going back to school, this is the perfect time to start getting back into the swing of things.

Are you feeling overwhelmed and don't know where to start to get your house back under control from the summer holidays? Or just wanting to try something new?
Join us and try out Flylady! It just may work for you 😊

This is a long running thread, but we are a friendly bunch and all are welcome to join in.

Do NOT sign up for the Flylady emails - it's an excessive amount sent every day.
There are Baby Steps for starting out, add one thing at a time to start good habits and routines.
There are 5 zones that we will rotate through, don't worry about finishing it all this month, it'll come around again next month!

Flylady is NOT about perfectionism!

Daily missions: each day of the week has a different mission.

  • Monday: Home Blessing (or as we call it, home bleugh)
  • Tuesday: plan & play
  • Wednesday: anti-procrastination
  • Thursday: errand day
  • Friday: clean car & purse out a week. It's also date night (with your significant other, or friends, or yourself!)
  • Saturday: family fun day
  • Sunday: renew your spirit

Common acronyms we use:

  • LOL: load of laundry (washing is certainly NOT funny!)
  • DW: dishwasher, we are not rotating wives by any means, although an extra pair of hands could come in handy sometimes 😆
  • LMS: lose/lost my shit
  • DNLMS: did not lose my shit

There are more, feel free to ask us to explain something. I'll try to update links every day, although if you can, it's worth downloading the app, you can even have it send you notifications (although I only have it for when the zones change). You can also modify the tick lists to suit your home & lifestyle.

Links are below 👇 if I happen to not add links in time, they do update at midnight for you.

Those look amazing!
Any possibility of having the recipe, please? Sadly I doubt I'd arrange them as nicely but it might be worth trying for a family October birthday coming up.
I'm still flapping along - cleared out the pantry yesterday. Only tasked myself with doing one shelf but so often one leads to another...
Only downside was I dropped a jar of cardamom seeds. Thought I'd got them all up but we're still regularly treading on the odd one.

Those look delicious Hazel I hope you all enjoyed eating them. I can't imagine they lasted longer than about 5min 🤤🧁

HazelNotHungryLC · 30/09/2024 02:23

LaMarschallin they are a keto recipe. I tried to find a regular one, but these are delicious, even if you're not eating low carb/ gluten free. I found it on Pinterest and had to double the recipe for the 9x9 pan it said to use. I also added blueberries to the lemon curd mixture.

I bought the cake decorating flowers on Amazon a while ago and they get used a lot!
Well done on clearing out the pantry!

Thank you both for the lemon bars love, they are delicious!

Keto Lemon Bars

These Keto Lemon Bars are the best keto dessert for summer. A melt-in-your-mouth almond shortbread crust topped with tangy lemon curd.

Monday is home bleugh day. Run the vacuum round (a quick job), empty bins, change sheets etc.

We move to zone 5 for Monday. This is the living room. Unfortunately we only have one day in it this month, since the 1st is on Tuesday and we go back to zone 1.

Monday's mission is to go diving in your couch/ sofa to see what you can find in the nooks and crannies. Give it a good vacuum if you can do it all in 15 minutes. Just see what you can do!

Look at your calendar. Who has a birthday/ special occasion next month? Add their birthday card/ gift on your list for your errand day.

If we don't have a volunteer for October I can set up a new thread. I will be a bit busier next month, so may be more absent than usual, if I can't fit it in.
If anyone can volunteer, that would be great!

Thank you, HazelNotHungryLC, both for the recipe and for the pictures of your amazing Halloween decorations.
Particularly love Jack!
Think I'll be digging out some fluff & dirt from the edges of the living room carpet, giving one bookshelf some thorough attention (there quite a few bookshelves here and books contribute to our clutter) and, if there's time, cleaning one big window in there today.
My house bleurghh days (one upstairs, one down) are later in the week. Instead it's a Big Shop day today.
Many thanks for the thread - it is truly inspiring and I'm sorry I'm not in a position to volunteer to run it for you this month.

I want to be able to decorate for autumn <sigh>

I always love seeing your seasonal decorations. Growing up we only went all out for Easter and Christmas. I may have been a bad influence on my mother and seasonal is a thing. I take only credit and no blame Wink

Today is an admin crunch time day. But still not firing on all buttons as there was more family health stuff that went on over the weekend. It was not mum, but it was a very stern reminder that my parents and their siblings are at an age where the next family gathering is just as likely to be a funeral as it is a big birthday. That dose of reality was unwelcome, probably necessary, but unwelcome.

Going to be a lot of running around as still not able to drive until the all clear at the end of the week. So i have errands in towns that will normally take me about 3hrs to complete the lot that is going to take about 10 buses and most of the day. My legs are going to end up hurting from all the walking too. Hoping the weather breaks and tomorrow will be a good day for that. I don't mind riding buses but you do have to adjust you expectations significantly as to how much time and energy everything is going to take. So really focusing on task stacking as much as possible to try to get the most out of the route i am going to have to take.

Ta da
dry the trousers i am supposed to be wearing
giggle at ds' response to the fact that our milkman has switched from plastic tub milk to milk bottles without warning.
reconfigure the fridge to get the milk in
consider if we still have those plastic tops for the milk from when i was a kid, go on random treasure hunt and confirm they are long gone.

To do
get up for the day
Head down to the library and see if there is a book i want to read
ring governing body
find all the important pieces of info and data input
pay governing body the renewal fee
cooked honey glazed pork with sweet heart cabbage and tatties for tea. - And make sure it is ready for the earlier 6pm tea time (we normally eat at 7pm but other people have stuff on tonight so that is going to throw my timings out)

Those blueberry bars look delicious @HazelNotHungryLC , and I love your Jack. Your decorations have inspired me and Im going to sort out mine a bit later.

HazelNotHungryLC · 30/09/2024 21:38

I love decorating this time of year especially: autumn, Halloween, Thanksgiving & Christmas, but will decorate for any excuse! Thank you for mentioning you enjoy my decorations! I love them!
I'll set up the October thread here shortly & post the link 😇

LaMarschallin I do the home bleugh on Tuesdays since that's the one day during the week I don't work. I love the flexibility of flylady.

Dragons getting older isn't fun. I hope your other relative is okay now.

Miss I'm glad my decorations have inspired you! I was only planning on putting the outside decorations up (mainly Jack as he requires at least 2 people), but then carried on inside!
