Does a reed diffuser that scents a room actually exist?

I've bought so many that frankly are a complete waste of time.. from most of the high street shops, and more expensive. None smell unless close up and even then not for long.

Does anyone know a brand that actually manages to make a room smell nice?

DP bought this cheapo one

Air Wick |Pink Sweet Pea |Air Freshener Reed Diffuser 33ml | Pack of 5 amzn.eu/d/filXXAv

From the air freshener aisle in the supermarket to go in our porch which is regularly opened and closed. The smell really holds in the room.

valentte - online only but not too expensive and really lovely.
Great gifts too as they look like they cost much more than they do

Second this
My bathroom absorbs scents to the point you could spray anything and no scent at all
Their rosemary Reed diffuser is the only one that's ever left a nice scent!

I have an electric diffuser from the White Company. If you really want a fragranced room I suggest one of these.
I was at a friend's house recently & she had a lovely St Eval one, but it was only in a downstairs loo so I don't know how well it would fragrance a large room.

I buy diffusers from a small business called Rebecca Tracey as they use oils that don’t evaporate. It means they last for longer and have a more natural aroma. I don’t understand why most commercial /big names don’t use the same oils as they are so much more effective

Just came on to recommend Rebecca Tracey 😁

Lovely!

A friend bought me a reed diffuser from The Handmade Soap Company last November. It was incredible - you could smell it as soon as you entered the house, yet it wasn't overpowering. Lasted until June this year and I can actually still smell it a bit even though it's just an empty bottle (I keep meaning to buy a refill). Not exorbitantly expensive and because it lasted so long I suspect it actually works out less than cheap brands.

I was just about to say the same about The Handmade Soap Company - really lovely, strong smelling but not overpowering and long lasting. I’m still turning the reeds in an empty bottle and there’s still a scent there 🤣

I was gifted a rhubarb scented one from M&S and it was fabulous. Lasted about five months.

They arrived really quickly. It was bogof & I spent £36 for 4, with some free samples as well. Postage was free too. The deal may have changed since Friday, of course.

Cookerhood · 21/08/2023 11:09

I got Lemongrass & rosemary & orange & grapefruit

ChinHairDontCare · 21/08/2023 11:23

I've been meaning to buy some new diffusers, great recommendations here. Went on to Valentte. I got two diffusers on sale, a free candle for signing up, free samples for other scents I want to try and free shipping to Ireland. I am very impressed already so hopefully they smell great too.

Reed diffusers are no different from air fresheners imo. I dislike both, and much prefer my home to smell of fresh air. Even in winter I keep a few windows open, and at this time of the year they are all wide open all the time. Nothing worse than fake, sickly scents.

Ibizafun · 21/08/2023 16:35

Also depends on the size of room. Our downstairs is open plan large space so nothing works there

Depends on the diffuser
The valentte ones are essential oils so not fake and nothing sickly about lemon, rosemary, mint essential oils. That's really different to a glade plug in smelling of "frosted berry"

Hoppinggreen · 21/08/2023 17:42

Valentte vs Air fresheners are like McDonalds vs fine dining

MotherofPearl · 21/08/2023 17:45

OK, maybe I need try this Valentte of which you speak. I do love the bracing smell of fresh rosemary.

Try the lemongrass and rosemary. If you ring or email them, they send you free samples so you can check before you buy anything (they send little mini spray bottles to test the scents) Smile

MotherofPearl · 21/08/2023 17:53

Thanks @Bonfire23 that's a great tip. I'll admit that I'd not heard of them before, and am open to conversion.
