Desperate Flyers - it's the weekend again

Apologies if someone has already started a weekend thread - I couldn't see it. Haven't been on here all week. Parents visiting (mixed blessing), lots of appointments for DD. She's been ill, DH ill and grumpy, DS1 had a burn on his foot, DS2 very difficult at the moment and
I have completely let go of my routines this week. SO need to get back on track today.

To start: DW, tidy kitchen, wipe surfaces, sweep floor.

Good weekend wishes to all x

Hi Janni. Thanks for the thread.

I don't want to be on MN much and I've already spent some time doing research (no, honestly!) on the au pair threads so I'll make this quick. I've got the house to myself until tomorrow so I want to do lots. Before I come back here I want to:-

~ feed neighbour's cat and fish
~ load the d/w
~ strip some beds
~ fetch the newspaper

Then I'm going to catch up on the thread from yesterday which I didn't get back to. See you later!

TheMadHouse · 16/02/2008 10:08

Morning ALl

The sun is shining and it looks lovley, if not a little frosty.

I have not been up long, as DH let me have a lie in and have done the mourning routines.

Not much flying planned for today, just the basics. We are going to Whitcy for the day - takeaway Fish and Chips from the magpie eaten by the harbour- yumm

I am going to dig out hats and scarfs next and then we are off. So catch you all alter fly girls

ludaloo · 16/02/2008 10:19

Sorry Guys...didn't realise there was a thread already!

Anyway...

I'm focussed and on the ball today! (That'll be me I'm trying to convince!)

HAVE to get on top of the house today.

Also have to go and do a food shop too.

The sun is shining...the kids are playing on the Wii, and DH has gone to work.
I'm still in my dressing gown, and have spent the morning watching a DVD...so I better pull my socks up and get to it!

Not that focussed though evidently!

sagacious · 16/02/2008 10:46

Morning !
Looks like we all need a boost today !

Dh has just taken the dc's out to ds's football so i've 2 hrs to get myself showered, nip out and get the paper and tidy the kitchen

IF I don't do this I will be banished in disgrace from the Fly thread forever

[focused expression]

ludaloo · 16/02/2008 10:50

LOL! saga

I'm doing ok...have sorted the washing out
Put a load in W/M
Cleaned the Guinea's out
Tidied the bathroom and picked up upstairs ready to hoover.

Lots left to do though, so I'd better get on

ludaloo · 16/02/2008 10:52

Oh...and I got dressed too...

Grouchyoscar · 16/02/2008 10:53

Morning, hope I'm on the right thread

My delightful Ed woke at 7:30 excited by the birdlife in the garden. DF and DP brought him a garden bird kit with binoculars and a feeder last week. We filled and hung the feeder and

Nothing

This morning it's 3/4 empty, spuggys are lining up for seeds, the blackbird couple are picking bits off the floor and Ed appears in wellies, pjs and 'nocklars'...It's freezing cold, frost on flowers and it's 8am! After breakfast we fill in his spotter chart.

I'll take him to the woods or the green belt to go bird spotting this afternoon. Hell, I have a twitcher!

So FLY plans are on hold. so far

DONE

Make beds
Tidy Ed's bedroom
Empty DW
Put away
Load WM and run
Run TD

Looks like it will be a nice day. Have fun.

Janni · 16/02/2008 10:58

Sorry - I confused you all by starting the thread. It's never been known before and is a sign of my desperation to get back in control of my household

TMH - fish and chips by the sea sounds SO good. Simply - good luck with the au pair search. I'm sure it's a tricky decision.
Luda - glad you are feeling brighter today.

It's taken AGES to get the kitchen back to some sort of order. DH out with kids.

Need to: get dressed, tidy living room and hallway

Only just found these threads. Am being very dense but what is Fly? Am rubbish at housework so if it's going to help me sort my house out I'm all ears...

BiancaCastafiore · 16/02/2008 11:40

Good morning

Grouchy enjoy the birdwatching, sounds fun

Well, I spent all day cleaning and tidying this house yesterday and already you wouldn't know it It's soooo flippin' disheartening when it looks so messy within a few short hours (and we were all alseep for most of those!!)

Dd has gone on the bus to Oxford to the cinema with a friend and her parents. She's pretty nervous in case the film is scary but it sounds fun - The Waterhorse
Dh has taken ds to run some errands to the bank so I'll do a quick whizz round and try to restore order.
Back later x

FLY lady site for intravenouscoffee We find the FLY site helps us along with the mundane job which is housework. Tasks are broken down into easy to follow routines and 15minute bursts which really help stop everything building up and becoming over-whelming.
We also all like a chat every day

sagacious · 16/02/2008 11:55

Showered
Discovered mould [yeuch] on tiles in shower so scrubbed that [took 5 mins so thats a hotspot taken care of]
Put a washing load on
D/w on

Welcome Intravenous (I could do with some of that right now)

Kettle will be on in about 20 secs..

BBL

sagacious · 16/02/2008 11:57

Whitby sounds fab (I've never been, is that the Mary Shelly place with the churchyard .. or am I imagining it?)

Enjoy the birdwatching grouch

We're off to our field so strim the 3 foot high weeds ..yipee (not).. might take a couple of beers and a picnic..

sagacious · 16/02/2008 12:46

washing pegged out
paperwork sorted

waiting for dh to get back so we can get the hell out of here !

Janni · 16/02/2008 12:56

Hi intravenous. People use this thread in different ways. Some post a day's jobs they want to get done, then come and chat every now and then. Others (like me) post one or two jobs and come back to tell cyberspace we've done them, before spending the next two hours on MN . Use it however it helps you.

Next jobs:
tidy our bedroom, DD's room and bathroom

Hello again all.

Janni We have an au pair now and she is due to be here until the summer. I'm looking for an au pair from Sept onwards. I'm hopeful that I've got a nice French one interested. I also have a few others who've made contact so it is taking me quite a bit of time to write to each of them. Hey ho.

saga Enjoy your strimming. What weeds are you zapping?

Hi intravenouscoffee. Bianca has summed it up well.

Hi BC. Thanks for your cheque and note which arrived today.

go Your post made me smile! Enjoy the birdwatching.

I've done well this morning. I've done loads! Now it's time for lunch. See you later!

ludaloo · 16/02/2008 14:55

Hi to intravenouscoffee BTW

FunkyGlassSlipper · 16/02/2008 15:12

DD2 still unwell.

DD1 still not great. Any [http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/29/479272#9677680 advice]

FunkyGlassSlipper · 16/02/2008 15:12

feck advice

ludaloo · 16/02/2008 16:02

Awww FGS your poor DD
I have no idea what to suggest, although It does look like the milk is causing the upset tummy...maybe she could be lactose intolerant? if you have cut milk out for a while and she seemed better, then maybe it is the milk?
Hope she gets better soon, and you discover what it might be xx

ludaloo · 16/02/2008 16:05

I am finally done

Downstairs all hoovered, and the fish tank is sparkling again (well it will be when the water settles)

I might pour myself a small Baileys with ice (just a small one as it is super high in calories!) and finish off the roast chicken.
