Desperate Flyers - it's the weekend again

Janni · 16/02/2008 07:49

Apologies if someone has already started a weekend thread - I couldn't see it. Haven't been on here all week. Parents visiting (mixed blessing), lots of appointments for DD. She's been ill, DH ill and grumpy, DS1 had a burn on his foot, DS2 very difficult at the moment and
I have completely let go of my routines this week. SO need to get back on track today.

To start: DW, tidy kitchen, wipe surfaces, sweep floor.

Good weekend wishes to all x

Moring

Pofaced change back, please You are not pofaced at all - a pretty ridiculous thread I felt! Good luck with the house move
TR That other thread is ridiculous too - I've read it and can't be bothered to post again. You're right, if they don't get it then there's no much can be done.
Luda have a good last day of half-term
TMH Glad you had a good day out yesterday

We're off swimming soon (now our regular Sunday morning routine ) Then dh is offering to take kids to a bus museum (not really my thing!) so I may get a peaceful afternoon to slob around the house or possibly tackle some of the junk in the spare room...

Have a good day everyone, see you later x

FunkyGlassSlipper · 17/02/2008 08:49

pofaced. My dd has a long name and has been known as a shortname verion of it since Day 1. We planned it like that and make no apologies for it. I knew it would be shortened to one of two names and I wanted to be the one to pick the shortened version

intravenouscoffee · 17/02/2008 09:04

Morning all. Janni's right about the anti-fly threads. I came to find out what all the fuss was about after reading it yesterday. Liked the idea of getting started by cleaning my sink and getting dressed each day - that's my level of ability! TBH I'm not a natural housewife so anything that helps is very welcome and I can't really see what they were all moaning about!

TheMadHouse · 17/02/2008 09:13

Ermm - I posted I couldnt hold back any longer. I dont think it is hard to justify why fly works for me. I felt as though it was a personal attack on us good ladies on the FLY threads.

I sometimes wonder if people lead such shallow lives that all they can do is critise others to get a bit of excitment

sagacious · 17/02/2008 09:57

Morning all
po I cannot understand how people get so worked up about names, its beyond me ! Change back you're so not !

Dh and ds out at the field with the strimmer, its blinking freezing so I've said we'll (me and dd) come along later with coffee and cake.

Having a lamb stew today so I might chuck it in the slow cooker and go and have a bath

Heh heh

Need to s/s kitchen
Load d/w
hotspot living room
put ds's clean pe kit back in the bag ready for school (yay!) tommorrow

Thats about it

Have a good day all

Janni · 17/02/2008 10:02

I missed the 'Pofaced' thing - what's that all about? Do we need to send Luda to another thread to sort them out again?

Hi TMH, FGS, IVC and Bianca

Will soon be kicked off here by DS and friend so am making a list for myself now:

laundry, toilets, DS1's room, our room, lunch prep (easy potato bake), post.

Wishing you a lovely Sunday.

Now go and put your makeup on and pop round Madamez's. I've heard it needs a good clean

Morning ALL and Welcome Newbies

Birdspotting didn't happen yesterday but it was good. Ed wanted to try chinese food (he's been doing chinese new year at school) and we were going to take him for a meal but

The restraunt closed down 3 mths ago and we found out yesterday...so quick change of plans and we decide on a take out and we go hunting for chopsticks down town In a 2 hr shopping trip we buy

Fruit biscuits for lunch boxes
A white board
A magnifying glass with light
A box of Kids Knex
4 handpainted spotty mugs
1kg Bird Seed

and NO chop sticks (Neighbour gave us some)

Home and No FLYing done (DH in a sulk as the memory for his new PC to be has not arrived) Get everything together, order the take out and start plan 2

Ed loved his starter and crispy duck pancakes but the sweet and sour sauce phased him a bit at first. Then we all dropped down exhausted. We have lots of chinese food in the freezer now

this morning I have

Up
Clean out cat cellar
Throw soiled litter to outdoor bin
Empty dehumidifyer
Water plants by porch
Empty DW
Put away
Mop kitchen
Mop front room
Put up Ed'smini greenhouse (we are growing herbs, tomatoes and lettuces this year)
Take down damp washing
Load TD and run
Empty WM
Sort to drying piles
Load whites to WM and run
Empty TD

TO Do

Job application
Lunch boxes for tomorrow
Clothes ready for morning
Bags ready
Potter and stuff

Seems I've missed the anti FLY brigade so I will catch up. See you later

glitterfairy · 17/02/2008 11:30

Morning everyone I have been very well behaved this morning and done some tidying washing, putting away and drying as well as tidying up my kitchen. Off to ballet now and collecting dd from a sleepover.

What a lovely sunny day it is here.

BabiesEverywhere · 17/02/2008 11:33

Hi FLY Ladies, inspired by this thread thought I would come and join you, if you have room for a fat one

I am SAHM of a 17 month old DD and nearly 4 months pregnant with our second. My house use to be a nightmare, started on the FLY threads a while ago and managed to sort out a fair bit, but I have been in and out of hospital (gall bladder issues) and got out of the habit, though I am pleased to say the house hasn't back slid that much

Now I feel up to starting properly again and I want to get completely organised before baby arrives and then it doesn't matter if I get nothing done for a short while.

I have hotspots in a few rooms but most of the clutter has gone, appart from our room which still have moving boxes in it So my aim is to clear out our room and all the hotspots before the baby arrives.

I aim to start properly on Monday with my old Morning routine (need to dig out my FLy folder...I like lists)

Simply · 17/02/2008 11:54

Hello to all and especially to glitterfairy and BabiesEverywhere.

grouchyoscar I love your posts, I think you're such fun!

Right. I'm doing bits and pieces and everywhere is looking less cluttered. As you all probably know by now, I don't actually follow the FLY site and I'm still in the decluttering stage so I'm still at the early stages. I keep sorting out bags of things for the charity shop and I've got some things to advertise in the local paper so I'm getting there!

BabiesEverywhere Could I start with you on Monday? If so, I'll CAT you if that's ok and we'll do it together using e-mail to correspond? It doesn't matter if you don't want to.

TheMadHouse · 17/02/2008 13:28

Afternoon all

I think we overtook the other threadsomewhat - Yeh Fly solidarity.

Well I took a call this monring that FIl adn MIL were coming to collect the spare bed at 1.30 then mad dash to clear over in and under it and empty the bedside cabinet etc.

SO we have done that and still need to take it down, but that can wait until FIL arrives.

We did need to get rid of it, but I thought that they might give me a bit of notice. The bunk beds are not due to arrive until end of March.

So my job for the week is to go through all the stuff in the spare room and sort it out for storage, charity and bin.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 17/02/2008 13:40

welcome babies everywhere

ludaloo · 17/02/2008 13:42

I think you are right Mad I am fed up debating FLY now LOL! There will always be someone who disputes what other people do.

I have been doing homework with the kids and DD1 is doing a collage about foodchains.
It looks cool!

I have also made a tent in the garden for the kids...and they ate their lunch in it (a windbrake and a tarpaulin sheet...GENIUS!! )

Have only spent a minimal amout of time on housework today...as I blasted it all yesterday...which makes a nice change, especially as it is sunday. DH has had to go in to work today as he is really busy at the mo.

Now just finishing off homework and clearing small bits of paper up from the dining table..and floor...and chairs!

BiancaCastafiore · 17/02/2008 13:54

I have had enough of my children today.

Dd made a fuss this morning and we ended up not going swimming
Then ds mucked about so much at lunchtime that dh has ended up taking only dd on an outing this afternoon while ds stays at home and irritates spends quality time with me I'v eput him out in the garden with his scooter for a while.

We hope to all have a walk later in the afternoon, it;s a lovely winters day here

I have done no FLYing at all, but that's good - I am mostly managing to have family days at the wekends now the basic housework is kept up with in the week

The antiFLY lady thread continues - I thought it was only called FLY lady because it's a lady who wrote the site, I have never seen it as exculsively for women. Although I do most of the housework round here - I choose to do it cos a) I am at home more aften than dh b) dh doesn't notice things as I do and c)it pleases me to have a nice home to raise my family in and FLYing has helped me come to grips with something that I don't find comes naturally. If we could afford a cleaner to do it for me I possibly would be tempted to take one on but possibly not as I actually enjoy homemaking (maybe that makes me odd, but I do!)

Ds has come back in now - it's freezing outside so I can't blame him! Better go and build a train track with him, back later x

ludaloo · 17/02/2008 14:23

You summed it up there B

My kids have all come back in freezing. My living room floor looks like an explosion in a paper factory. DD2 was soooo well behaved and quiet while DS and DD1 did their collages....Now I know why! Merrily sitting under the table cutting paper into teeny weeny weeny bits!

BiancaCastafiore · 17/02/2008 14:39

I'm stuck playing cars with ds....was fun for a few minutes but I'm bored now! I've snuck away to get a snack...

He's found me now and his pestering me to play some more See you later x

Actually, I find FLY threads are more for chat most days than housework anyway lol

TheMadHouse · 17/02/2008 17:02

Well Bed has gone, along with bedside cabinets etc. The room needs a real sort out, as I have bags and bags of baby clothes to sort. We are finally getting rid of them. So my mission next week is to try and clear them and make the room ready for a coat of paint before it becomes DS1's room.

DS1 is in the wars he ran in to the dinning table and has a really nasty black eye. He is sitting with a Mr Bump cool pack on it and having fizzy apple water with his daddy.

I am finnishing dinner - minceand omions with dumplings, mash, carrotts, cauli, brochli and green beens - yummmmmy

Grouchyoscar · 17/02/2008 18:28

I like coming to FLY as you're all so lovely and it makes me happy and my house is much tidier so there.

I've been asleep all afternoon after I had brekkie. I overdid it as i thought 'put up Ed's greenhouse should be easy...an hour later DH comes with coffee to the garden. I'm still in PJ's wrestling metal pipes and plastic corners...DOH! It's up and looks sweet enough. Will plant stuff when frosts stop

Done

sorted out Ed's money boxes (we save up the coppers etc and bank them when there are whole bags. £3 in coppers today)
Tidy gift stash on top of wardrobe
Put dry washing away
Quick iron
Get clothes ready for morning and the week

Glad I got 90 mins this aft. I have a busy week ahead of me

Hope all are well, LO's are recovering and everyone is happy
Get Ed's clothes ready for morning

Shannaratiger · 17/02/2008 20:32

Evening everyone

I just found the anti FLYthread. Read some and replied if any one has read my reply was i a bit out of order?

PuppyDogTails · 17/02/2008 20:34

Ooh goody, other people starting to FLY again . I'm a lapsed FLYer and I really miss how nice my house looked. I'm going to have to start from scratch again though, every time I try to resurrect my old routines I get all frustrated and overwhelmed and I give up. So back to shining sinks tomorrow morning .

You know, that other thread has got me revved up and ready to go.

Shannaratiger · 17/02/2008 20:44

FLYing is happening a tiny bit. The DC's are almost better and is half term next week, so i can have a bit more time FLY. DD(4) now takes over the hoovering and does really well, just have to make sure the skirting boards get done.
Next week will try and keep up with the FLYthread.
Pofaced don't let any one push you around change your name back and tell them to get lost, sorry don't know which thread upset you so much though. Congratulations adn good luck with the house move.
Have to go and sort out the kitchen, need to get an early night as me and DP are both really tired and grumpy which has led to fireworks ALL day.
Have a good evening everyone.
Be Back Tomorrow
