How much do you pay your window cleaner?

We live in a 4 bed detached house and, until today, paid £20 to our window cleaner who comes round when he can be bothered. I reckon it would take him about 10-15 mins tops to do our windows.

He came today, said something about now using a new shampoo (soap? Wasn't paying that much attention), maybe spent an extra 5 mins doing the windows but has charged us £25 - a 25% increase.

Obviously I get that prices are going up everywhere but am not sure if that is a bit excessive or actually an acceptable amount?

Oh wise MN folk, please let me know what you think...

South East - £20 every 4 weeks or £30 every 8 weeks. That's the going rate around here.

I live in a 100 year old 3 bed with massive bay windows (curtains cost me a fortune!). We also have a very large glass walled extension. Our window cleaner charges £45. If he does the insides, that's an extra £50.

For 3 bed semi with 1 bay, French windows and 1 x large Velux I pay £12 monthly. Always streak free and sparkling clean! Fabulous, proper old-fashioned service. Window cills cleaned too as standard. I’m in Yorkshire.

Let me guess. An older window cleaner who hasn't put his prices up in years

£25??

Mine charges £2 to do the front, and (if I've remembered to unlock the back gate) £4 to do the back as well, including the conservatory.

NE England, to add. Large windows (2 metres plus, wide)

That's insane, bet he's an old boy who hasn't put his prices up in years

4 bed detached with bi-folds across the back.
North West - £23 every 6 weeks. He does a cracking job and last time fixed my gutter for £5.

Four bed detached. £17. Theoretically once a month, but in practice a bit less often. There's just two of them, so illnesses and holidays often result in them being a week or so late.

£12 for two patio doors and 9 windows (3 of which are bay)

AlwaysLatte · 06/10/2025 23:43

£25 every fortnight, about 13 rooms, one with 5 windows, so I think that's pretty good value.
