How much do you pay your window cleaner?

We live in a 4 bed detached house and, until today, paid £20 to our window cleaner who comes round when he can be bothered. I reckon it would take him about 10-15 mins tops to do our windows.

He came today, said something about now using a new shampoo (soap? Wasn't paying that much attention), maybe spent an extra 5 mins doing the windows but has charged us £25 - a 25% increase.

Obviously I get that prices are going up everywhere but am not sure if that is a bit excessive or actually an acceptable amount?

Oh wise MN folk, please let me know what you think...

4 bedrooms SE £23, using the pole system.

IngGenius · 12/03/2023 13:18

Blimey we pay £60.00 5 bed detached house SE using the pole system

Our previous cleaner asked for £95.00 so changed to what I thought was a good price - looks like way more than any of you are paying.

4 bed with a conservatory here. He doesn't do the conservatory roof or the bedroom window above it but the conservatory alone is 14 windows and doors. Box bay lounge window then kitchen, utility, loo and garage windows downstairs plus 2 doors then upstairs he does 3 bedroom windows and 2 bathrooms. Charges £23 every 6-8 weeks. If we get him to do the conservatory roof it costs about £50 but it doesn't need doing often.

3 storey town house, 8 windows plus front door and full-width, french/patio doors is £15 every 5 weeks. Uses one of those long pole with a brush on the end, purified water things. In East Anglia.

SquashesPumpkinsAutumnBliss · 25/03/2023 20:36

3 bed detached. £15 a time

PrettyUpMyPorch · 25/03/2023 20:44

£35 on the south coast (every 2 months)... £140 in London (but I only do it about once a year)!

BooksAndHooks · 25/03/2023 20:45

We pay £7 for the front only, so three windows and the glass in the front door.

ChicagoBears · 25/03/2023 20:47

6 bed detached with 2x sets of bi-folds. £30 per month.

tillyoumakeit · 25/03/2023 20:47

Haven't RTFT but I love our window cleaners. They come every month like clockwork and charge £17 for our 4 bed detached - bay on ground floor plus french doors at the back and 6/7 other windows.

ihatewinter2 · 25/03/2023 20:51

Ours is £5!! For front and back of a 3 bed terraced. Merseyside.

Garrie · 25/03/2023 20:53

I've never ever had a window cleaner. I can see perfectly out of them and think it's a waste of money Blush

BillyNoM8s · 25/03/2023 20:54

£30 for a 3 bed semi. We have cameras so can see the whole 5 minutes it takes 🤔

bluebeardswife7 · 25/03/2023 20:55

I live in Norwich and I wanted a one off as my house is up for sale. £50 for a three bedroom house.
Reader, I am doing them myself .

milkysmum · 25/03/2023 21:02

£6 every 4 weeks. Front and back of 3 bed terrace. Extra £5 to clear the gutters if they need doing.
Village in Lancashire.

ToffeeNotCoffee · 25/03/2023 21:29

£24 to do inside and out three bedroom house, West Midlands every 8 weeks.

longwayoff · 25/03/2023 21:36

Once a month, 3 large windows and sills, front door and fan light, pediment and corbels. £15. South.

SureJanOK · 07/07/2024 14:44

I've just been quoted £36 for a 2 bed flat in a city in Scotland.
I've declined!

WellTidy · 13/07/2024 12:12

70 bloody quid. He comes every two months or so. It was the cheapest quote I got, which staggered me. Our place really isn’t massive!

Changingplace · 13/07/2024 12:15

3 bed semi, North West, 3 windows at front and he charges £8 approx monthly, he only does the back occasionally - we’re on quite a busy road so the front windows get muckier.

Fartooold · 13/07/2024 12:18

God, never realised how lucky I am!
I have 13 windows and 2 sets of patio doors

My window cleaner comes monthly and has just increased his price to £9 😊

Oh, and I'm North East and window cleaner is 'traditional' , not pole thingy cleaner.

WinterNightStars · 13/07/2024 12:40

£13 every 4-6 weeks - 3 bed detached inc conservatory

PurpleReindeer2 · 13/07/2024 12:42

10 windows and 2 patio doors. £10 every 2/3 weeks.

howlsmovingbouncycastle · 13/07/2024 12:43

London and I just paid £55 for a 4 bed Victorian 3 storey terrace (so we have to be in to let him in to do the back). We get the whole house done twice a year, then he does the front windows every couple of months and that is £15.

He must be doing alright as I just noticed that he is now VAT registered!

BeachRide · 13/07/2024 13:12

4 bed detached with a billion windows and doors. £10 every couple of weeks. I can't believe it's so cheap! SW.

Evenstar · 13/07/2024 13:13

£15 about every six weeks using the spray brush on a pole, four bed detached with a large bay window and two sets of French doors and front and back door. We have a glazed area with 4 windows joining one set of doors, and a huge landing window so 15 windows plus the doors.

We are NW, he was only wanted to charge £12 when we moved in last year, but we didn’t think that was enough. We were paying £18 in SE for less windows and didn’t want to take advantage.
