How often do you clean your bathrooms?

DP thinks I clean the bathrooms unnecessarily I.e. they don’t need doing when I do them. My argument is that’s the whole point, you clean them so they don’t get to a point of “looking” unclean.

I have two bathrooms and do them both fully twice a week, daily bleach/toilet cleaner down the toilet, white vinegar on the taps once a week (independent of full cleans) and mop the floors at least once a week (in addition to full cleans when floor also gets done).

What’s a normal amount?

When it looks manky.
Which isn't enough.
But I do wipe round the basin and swish round the loo pretty much daily.

RampantIvy · 23/01/2022 10:38

As and when required.

Lampzade · 23/01/2022 10:40

Same as you. I clean my bathrooms daily.
My rationale is that if I clean them daily then there will be no build up and thus cleanliness is easier to maintain.
It doesn’t take long to clean bathrooms which are already clean

saltandpepper234 · 23/01/2022 10:40

Does that mean you wait until it looks dirty to clean it? Our downstairs bathroom very rarely looks dirty as it doesn’t get used as much but I still do it twice a week 🤷🏼‍♀️

Daily loo wipe/ floor around the loo wipe/sink swish, slightly more in depth approx once a week.

saltandpepper234 · 23/01/2022 10:42

I also just love the smell of a clean bathroom, CIF and bleach mmm 😂

Once a week is surely normal

Daisydoesnt · 23/01/2022 10:43

OP if you're doing the taps, mopping the floor and squirting cleaner down the loo as an in-between clean, what is it that you do for a "full clean" twice a week?

To answer your question I clean about every five or six days - clean sink, clean loo, quick wipe round the shower & buff up glass, dust the windowsill, change the towels/ mats, & vacuum (occasionally mop but not every week). There's only two of us here.

ShesKickedOutBarry · 23/01/2022 10:44

Twice a month, full going over by my cleaner. I probably wipe the sinks and toilets a couple of times a week. Shower and baths stay relatively clean, just me and DD here. I rinse them with the shower hose after use.

No proper cleaning in between cleaner visits, they always look clean.

WhatDidISayAlan · 23/01/2022 10:44

Full clean once a week before I have a shower on a Saturday morning (clean the cubicle when I’m in it). A couple of times a week I’ll clean the loo and sink during my lunch hour (wfh). Bath gets done after I have one (monthly). But there’s just me and a visiting gentleman caller so there’s not a huge mess.

Weekly

JurgensCakeBabyJesus · 23/01/2022 10:47

Once a week, but wipe round toilet and sink pretty much every other day while DS is in the bath

woowoowaa · 23/01/2022 10:48

Every day I do a quick clean- ie wipe you everything down with anti bac etc and then once a week do a deep clean which doesn't take long because of the daily clean

WhatsitWiggle · 23/01/2022 10:49

I wipe the sink / taps / surface / toilet and put cleaner down the toilet every day when I've had my shower. Because it's done daily, it takes a minute. Products and cloths are kept in the bathroom.

Then full clean - scrub bath, scrub toilet, clean floor, clean shower screen and mirror - once a week.

And a deep clean - extractor fan, grouting, door, cabinet - every 8 weeks.

55Jumbo · 23/01/2022 10:55

Proper clean once a week. Wipe toothpaste or "skids" as required!

RagzRebooted · 23/01/2022 10:55

Maybe once a month properly, toilets get done every week and sink wiped a few times a week. My bathroom is old, manky and mouldy so still looks awful after being deep cleaned. If I had a nice bathroom, I'd clean it more!

Sheabutterisdelish · 23/01/2022 11:02

Then full clean - scrub bath, scrub toilet,

Why do you need to 'scrub' anything if you already clean it daily?

olympicsrock · 23/01/2022 11:03

Once a week, fortnightly for bathrooms that get little use

PivotPivotPivottt · 23/01/2022 11:05

About twice a week. I'm a cleaner and most of my clients are fortnightly and most of their bathrooms are still clean after 2 weeks but my own bathroom is minging after a couple of days it drives me mad.

Chakraleaf · 23/01/2022 11:06

I have to do toilets and sinks daily. Bath rinsed after use, same for shower. We have 3 bathrooms and 4 kids.

saltandpepper234 · 23/01/2022 11:07

Full clean I use a bowl of hot water and cif to scrub round the sink, bath, taps and toilet with a sponge. Also scrub floor and skirting with sponge/cif. I wipe down the shower screen and mirror with glass cleaner, wipe the tiles with diluted bleach, change the towels, empty the bin and top up the loo paper as required

OP posts:
saltandpepper234 · 23/01/2022 11:07

There are two of us

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/01/2022 11:09

Weekly clean of bath, and floor mopping, then twice a week do sink and loo. Things like the grouting far less often than they probably should be.

Omicrone · 23/01/2022 11:09

Oh god it's another competitive cleaning thread!

mizu · 23/01/2022 11:12

Once every two weeks properly Blush and then probably a wipe here and there in between. Another one with an old suite so it never looks great. Should do it more but it is my worst household chore so always gets put off.
