How often do you clean your bathrooms?

DP thinks I clean the bathrooms unnecessarily I.e. they don’t need doing when I do them. My argument is that’s the whole point, you clean them so they don’t get to a point of “looking” unclean.

I have two bathrooms and do them both fully twice a week, daily bleach/toilet cleaner down the toilet, white vinegar on the taps once a week (independent of full cleans) and mop the floors at least once a week (in addition to full cleans when floor also gets done).

What’s a normal amount?

Same as @theyoungishman my cleaner does it fortnightly and I’ll maybe give it a quick wipe in between.

A toothpaste stain in the en-suite won’t kill you.

SeeminglyOblivious · 23/01/2022 13:08

The toilet areas every other day...three boys with dubious aiming accuracy make this necessary 🙄. Thorough clean of toilet- inside, outside, back - and surrounding tiles and floor.

The rest of the bathroom...meh. Once a fortnight maybe. Maybe less.

Although I generally hand clean the sink every time I brush my teeth (as in hot water and rubbed all around the inside and surround of the sink with my hand to get rid of dust, hand soap residue, toothpaste smears...i can't be the only one that does this?)

And I generally do the same kind of 'wash' of the bath with my feet whenever i shower 😁

Bakewelltart987 · 23/01/2022 13:11

Bleach in toilet every night then wipe sink every morning after the feral kids have brush their teeth and washed quick rinse on bath after it's been used deep clean once fortnight and it always looks so much nicer/cleaner afterwards like I don't realise how minging it was till then.

MagdaTrudy · 23/01/2022 13:13

I have one main bathroom, a shower rooms and a downstairs loo.

There's just me and my Husband. The main bathroom is mine, the shower room his. I don't go in there, it's his responsibility. I keep on top of my bathroom everyday. I will rinse the sinks off when I've washed my hands/brushed my teeth. Clean the loo, wipe shower screen, clean mirrors on a daily basis. Little 3 minute jobs.

Once a week I spray mop the tiles (floor and walls)

It is gleaming ☺️

PickAChew · 23/01/2022 13:14

Quick wipe over, most days. Deeper clean when I can be arsed - more likely I'll clean the floor or tackle the shower screen or give the grout some attention rather than do all of it on the same day.

RandomUsernameHere · 23/01/2022 13:15

Once a week. Shower screens get scraped after every use.

MsSquiz · 23/01/2022 13:17

Properly cleaned - once a week when the cleaners come.

Bleach or tablet down the loo - twice a week
Bath & shower - rinsed properly after each use
Sinks wiped down with a dry cloth - when they need it

guardiansofthegalaxychocs · 23/01/2022 13:17

Once a week properly and then as and when if there is a child related ‘issue’!

I wouldn’t think most people need to clean more than once a week but up to you 🤷‍♀️

TeenTraumaTrials · 23/01/2022 13:25

I really don't understand the need to put bleach or cleaner down the toilet every single day. That is just putting unnecessary chemicals into the environment. Like some PPs I hand rinse the sink after brushing my teeth and will wipe round the tap if it has soap residue. Sometimes I'll wipe round the toilet with a tissue and on the floor round the toilet with a wipe. Proper clean once a week with flash and toilet cleaner. 4 of us in the house - one main bathroom used by all and downstairs WC (which does have a shower that only gets used for muddy dogs)

BennysBingoBonanza · 23/01/2022 13:27

Proper clean twice a week. Hand rinse sink and bath after use.

Spidey66 · 23/01/2022 13:29

Bit of bleach down the loo daily, proper clean weekly.

NotVictorianHonestly · 23/01/2022 13:31

There are a lot of unnecessary chemicals going on in this thread. Not very environmentally friendly using all these bathroom and toilet cleaners multiple times a week.

abigailsnan · 23/01/2022 13:34

Toilet & sink everyday I don't have a bath but a wet room so tiles are wiped when I have shower and floor is "flash mopped" at the same time.

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 23/01/2022 14:07

When it's needed
I use the method daily shower spray after my shower
Wipe the sink with a damp cloth if needed and toilet cleaner maybe twice a week. I'll use anything from cif to soapy water! Depends what the job is and how dirty it is

User48751490 · 23/01/2022 14:09

Six of us.

Once a week.

simonisnotme · 23/01/2022 14:38

At the mo i'm (mini) cleaning them every day as I have the bloody Virus Sad

ButWhereDidTheWindComeFrom · 23/01/2022 14:46

I wfh. 4 of us (2 DCs) 1 ensuite and 1 family bathroom. The cleaner does it weekly. I will usually put some loo cleaner down every day and a quick wipe of basins. The Dcs rooms have a basin in them (former B&B) so I will wipe down the basins each day as they get toothpasty. The family bathroom is also where one of our cats has her litter tray and food (as she needs to be separated from our other cat) and I check that and refresh every day.

(I have just started to develop a cleaning routine that works for me and quite enjoy it.)

BigWoollyJumpers · 23/01/2022 14:51

Agree about the unnecessary daily chemicals. It's not as if everyone is going around licking the inside of the bowl.

@TeenTraumaTrials

You lecture on chemicals ...then use wipes??

seriously

Tell me that you don't flush them down the toilet.

TeenTraumaTrials · 23/01/2022 15:26

My god sensitive much. I made a comment not a lecture. And I use one or two cleaning wipes a week which is nothing like on par with swishing bleach down the toilet every day in terms of volume of chemicals. And no I don't flush them for what it's worth because that's STUPID. But you go ahead and make an assumption that everyone who uses a cleaning wipe flushes them.

GoodnightGrandma · 23/01/2022 15:27

Once a week, and it always looks like it needs doing by them.

Pinchofnom · 23/01/2022 15:31

Every day. Wash the shower/bath after each use. Bleach my toilets daily, clean sinks daily.

Mop twice a week or more if needed.

MrsHGWells · 23/01/2022 15:33

Once a week full clean (basin, taps, tiles, bath scrub and toilet clean); then as needed during the week mini tidy up with zoflora/ method Spray) wipe around hand basin or toilet - clear away empty toilet rolls Hmm

GrapefruitPink · 23/01/2022 15:35

I wipe toilets and sinks daily. Bleach toilet daily.

I deep clean bathroom twice a week.
Partner is scruffy from work, he rinses after every bath/shower but it still builds up.

gemloving · 23/01/2022 15:36

The cleaners clean them every week and it's bliss.
