Darkness drawing in, Fledgling flying through November

HillsBesideTheSea · 31/10/2021 12:13

So another month another thread.

first things first: Naughty corner is over there ----> stocked with comfy chairs, blankies, cupboard of comfort food of your desire, something strong if you require and a nice warming fire.

Right next up the formalities.
We loosely follow the fly lady system. It does work if you follow it, but many of us have found that it works better if you combine it with an additional decluttering system to speed up that process. Flylady is more of a maintence system and build routines to prevent system

This is a loooooong running thread. We seem clicky but welcome new blood to the brood, and you will soon catch up. We don't leave fledglings behind. But also we would like to remind you that perfectionism and comparison can be thieves of joy.

This year has been hard, this winter looks like it will also be hard. So remember to be kind to yourselves. We are all juggling a lot. The house, work, kids, animals, partners, bills, being the family brain. This thread is here to support. So if it looks like sometimes we chat more than we fly, then that is ok. Life is more than living in a show home, and real life is chaotic, messy and loud and that is just what it is.

So welcome to November's thread

Morning all

Oh.

I’d say it’s been a slow start today but I haven’t even started! I need to get going now though, as I have appts at the job centre and then the doctors. I’m not even going to pretend I’ll get anything else done today.

SingToTheSky · 04/11/2021 12:22

po3.1
❗️Get dressed
❗️Charge phone and kindle
❗️Find money, bus pass etc

HillsBesideTheSea · 04/11/2021 12:25

Glad to hear you have doc appoints. hope you can get your ears sorted

OP posts:
IWillWearThatGlitteryWoolly · 04/11/2021 12:31

Afternoon! The morning has escaped me again and I've forgotten ALL my YesTaDas.

Ta Da today:
❤️ Pilates. Man, I hurt.
🧡 Basic house stuff - windows open, bed made, S&S, DW emptied, dinner defrosting
💛 Arranged lovely roses from DH (I will keep him) 💕
💚 Sent DS3 to skatepark to practice his skateboarding
💜 Now waiting at physio's office

Still to do:
🍁 Contact tennis coach, who wants DS3 to do more!
🍂 Dentist at 4pm
🍁 Writing
🍂 Possibly decluttering a bit of utility room, or at least sort crap into charity / recycling / tip
🍁 Arrange for freecycled bureau to go tomorrow
🍂 Possibly walk up to town for exercise. Or go back to bed.

Is anyone else intending to watch Stacey Solomon decluttering people this evening? I thought it might possibly be inspiring. 8pm BBC1 I believe.

SingToTheSky · 04/11/2021 12:44

Ooh that’s good, I enjoyed the one off show she had about it.

Scrabbling around for taxi fare atm (not taco fare as autocorrect would have you believe…) otherwise I’ll need to leave soon to get the buses

merryhouse · 04/11/2021 13:32

I'll watch that, willow, but on catch-up because - get this - we have choir practice this evening!

so my todo list includes

make spag bol
work out how to take lateral flow test
take lateral flow test (before or after dinner?)
go to socially-distanced choir practice - I have a pew plan in front of me as we speak Grin
realise I haven't actually sung for 20 months, cough, splutter

merryhouse · 04/11/2021 13:37

willow? woolly? ach, you know who I mean Grin

Did you see Nick Knowles's version? I thought it was the same thing at first (despite being on a different channel) but Stacey's pilot had made quite a lot of creating the new home set-up from what was already there, and the NK one seemed to have brought in a lot of random new stuff, or at least not mentioned where things came from. I particularly remember an array of blue plates above the bed, which you'd think would have had a narrative along the lines of "Edie's treasured collection of Mahortian ware from her godmother's great-aunt" or something and without that could easily have been a joblot from Tesco.

HillsBesideTheSea · 04/11/2021 15:06

Anyone know if ikea single beds fit a standard uk single matress these days?

OP posts:
IWillWearThatGlitteryWoolly · 04/11/2021 18:15

Only if you buy an IKEA UK single bed. And IKEA european single will NOT fit a UK single mattress. Sorry.

Dancingtomusic · 04/11/2021 21:15

Waves from a actual mountain of clean laundry stopping me from getting into bed.

Looking after dd who was coughing then was sick all over herself- thankfully only a bit- so showered her got her into bed with a tiny bit of calpol.
She will be off school tomo.
I am flagging. Need sleep.

Dancingtomusic · 04/11/2021 21:16

Willow- i would love to watch the stacey solomon show...its my kind of programme.

Sing - hope ur ear is ok. What did doc say?

YesIReallyHave · 04/11/2021 22:04

willow is that a brand new episode as there was just the episode on iPlayer for ages? She's lovely with the family, I think.

dancing poor dd. There's a lot of it going stoat the moment. Hope you get some sleep.

Merry. I hope you enjoyed choir practice.

Tada

  • Helped parents with re-packing as they had run of space in suitcase and were lugging extra unnecessary items in hand luggage. I am the queen of packing. It's one of my talents, shame I can't get paid for it.
  • Completed 2 crosswords with DP
  • Usual cook, wash up, school run, cook etc
  • Booked flu vaccine for tomorrow
  • Cleaned mirror surface on microwave door. Ridiculously happy about this as I finally worked out I could use Windolene to clean it. Doh! Door is perfectly smudge free. Yay.
  • Arranged time and place to see friend tomorrow.

Hope everyone is doing well. Smile

YesIReallyHave · 04/11/2021 22:05

Going stoat? Going around at the moment HmmBlush

SingToTheSky · 04/11/2021 23:27

Going stoat sounds like something that could weasily get out of hand.

Saw GP who has given different drops and swabbed my ears for the lab 🤣 ouch. Hopefully the new stuff will help anyway

ta da
❗️Job centre
❗️Dr appt

Errr that’s it. Had a lovely evening though watching horrible histories with the Caglets

Redsquirrel5 · 05/11/2021 01:37

Hi,
You have all been so busy.

Dancing thanks. We didn’t get flooded but some people have. Only one in the village and it was just the garden I think, maybe the garage. Roads in the village weren’t as bad as usual surprisingly. We stayed in to avoid any. Nearby villages had flooded roads including DS2 s village. Our river was up but didn’t go over the banks or the bridge this time.
Woolly willow you seem to be having a difficult time. How long since your bloods were taken ? Perhapsget some Floridix. It has always give me a boost when feeling like you do.

Thanks for October and November threads Hills also want to know about the garden centres.

Not much flying done here. I am awaiting an emergency scan for a hernia.

Dancingtomusic · 05/11/2021 07:32

Red- did your hernia pain just start up? Hope you get the emergency scan soon.

Yup- I remember too there was only one episode and its great there are more.
Queen of packing is a honorable skill. We should be able to put it on Cvs.

Sing- weasly lol
Hope the new drops help!

Redsquirrel5 · 05/11/2021 08:22

Dancing. I have been aware of it for about 5 years. It was dismissed by GP and not followed through. It sometimes feels like it pushes through and I can push it back but on Monday it wouldn’t push back in. I eventually did it but in the night it did the same thing. Then it happened again on Wednesday night. Rang for appointment but receptionists triaged 🙄I rang. At 8:15 am and received telephone app. Nurse at 3:30pm. Em. Scan and ring back if it gets any worse ring GPsurgery or 111. I have had a good sleep. I had veggie pasta last night and some digestive biscuits before going to sleep. Going to have small meals.
Using some of my time to knit as I got behind with my scarf pledge but now caught up.
Going to doze back off I think.

Dancingtomusic · 05/11/2021 08:28

Oh Red, I am sorry the hernia was dismissed and not followed through.
Glad you got some sleep last night. Sending you a hug.

Putting a extra large pot of tea on for everyone in the naughty corner.

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/11/2021 08:34

red hope scan goes ok lovely.take it easy

I did basics yesterday, not much else
Today D's is at school all day, however lil zoo hasn't gone in second day running
Beautifully sunny her but soooo cold!
Need sort overflowing bins, sort zoolets dad's flu jab drop in
Poss acquire lil zoo school jumpers
I am plugging away at the edging of the baby blankie.its a beautiful leaf pattern but I can't do it when tired or keep fluff it up!

Redsquirrel5 · 05/11/2021 09:14

Strangely we have heard about hernias all week totally three other random people and one friend.
GP is going to call me between 9-10 so better get up. Second sleep was deep. Will come back later.

Redsquirrel5 · 05/11/2021 09:25

And she phoned.
Scan is predicted weeks rather than days! I asked I didn’t get the answer I was expecting. Right getting up to have some breakfast.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Not too much ‘ doing’ Willow Woolly.🐏

Dancingtomusic · 05/11/2021 09:58

Red- its a shame its going to be weeks.

Zoo- your blanket sounds lovely- would love to see it just to get an idea of what it is the leafs sound lovely.

Was up 4 times in the night to help dd and calpol to temperature down.
I managed to chivy ds to breakfast club and currently have dd with a low temp. She is cheerful enough to have breakfast, play shops and now i have ordered her into bed to rest and sleep. She too busy reading.
I dont know what jobs I will get done today. 🤦‍♀️ i am calling it a win if she doesnt cry.

SingToTheSky · 05/11/2021 12:41

Red that’s awful I’m sorry you’ve got such a long wait!

Hope DD is ok soon dancing

I’ve managed to get up long enough to take my meds and eat something. Had my first dose of the new ear drops.

Aaaand I just realised I forgot to cancel parkour which I don’t think DS is up to (he missed tap last night) - the one time I don’t leave booking till the last minute 😩🤦🏻‍♀️ He will probably be missing fireworks with scouts tonight too.

po3.1
❗️Put snack stuff back in kitchen and get more water
❗️Check with DS about parkour and scouts, and let relevant people know
❗️Try and hang out downstairs for a bit so I’m not in bed all day

ExcessiveIyDisorganised · 05/11/2021 13:28

Sorry to hear about the scan wait Red. DFIL had hernia surgery last week, DH has gone to see him today. His worsened suddenly about a month ago and the surgery happened quite quickly in the end. He is recovering well.

HalfHope · 05/11/2021 14:44

Is it possible that you could be put on a standby list in case of a late cancellation Red? Sorry to hear that it is such a long wait.
