Darkness drawing in, Fledgling flying through November

HillsBesideTheSea · 31/10/2021 12:13

So another month another thread.

first things first: Naughty corner is over there ----> stocked with comfy chairs, blankies, cupboard of comfort food of your desire, something strong if you require and a nice warming fire.

Right next up the formalities.
We loosely follow the fly lady system. It does work if you follow it, but many of us have found that it works better if you combine it with an additional decluttering system to speed up that process. Flylady is more of a maintence system and build routines to prevent system

This is a loooooong running thread. We seem clicky but welcome new blood to the brood, and you will soon catch up. We don't leave fledglings behind. But also we would like to remind you that perfectionism and comparison can be thieves of joy.

This year has been hard, this winter looks like it will also be hard. So remember to be kind to yourselves. We are all juggling a lot. The house, work, kids, animals, partners, bills, being the family brain. This thread is here to support. So if it looks like sometimes we chat more than we fly, then that is ok. Life is more than living in a show home, and real life is chaotic, messy and loud and that is just what it is.

So welcome to November's thread

Hills oh no that is all you need!

Zoo decided against it when it started persisting down.

MC oh poor boy. Poor you too lots of sick 🤮🤢yuk.

IWillWearThatGlitteryWoolly · 06/11/2021 20:49

Oh no, Hills, Mc, that's the last thing either of you need.

Today has been very cold and blowy in the South East. I have taken a Complete Day Off and, apart from giving away something via Trash Nothing, I have achieved only
❤️ Finishing A House Through Time on iplayer and
🧡 Doing some tapestry.

I sat on the music room sofa with a cup of tea and a sandalwood candle and had a perfectly lovely time. I also don't feel like I've been run over for the first time in weeks. DH cooked dinner.

Just waiting for Over-The-Road to finish their bloody fireworks now they've got back from their Iberian Fortnight for half term. Mutter. (I don't know why I'm grumpy about this, they're perfectly nice people).

Dancingtomusic · 06/11/2021 21:48

Willow- that sounds blissful in your.music room-tea.

Mc- oh poor mctiny

Hills- sorry about your back.

Am falling asleep.
Was invited to a kids 10th birthday who goes to a different school.
2pm till 7.30pm the kids had a fab time. I had a fab time too...i met so many nice...friendly...welcoming parents- honestly....a mum asked me for my mobile number- i couldnt believe it!
Cant keep eyes open......😴

Zoo- that leaf knitting is bloody amazing!!! I want to do one!!!!!!!!

IWillWearThatGlitteryWoolly · 06/11/2021 22:20

How lovely you all had a fab time, Dancing. Sleep well!

GoingGoingGoth · 06/11/2021 22:54

Beautiful work Zoo

Hats are crocheted Red I teach it on Saturday mornings and then make stuff in the evenings in a vain attempt to stop snacking

Thanks Sing I’ve just completed my first infinity scarf with the same stitch.

Not many Ta-dahs today, the morning was taken up with my class and this afternoon has been spent cabbaging with the cat while starting another pair of wrist warmers

brambleon · 06/11/2021 23:05

Thanks guys :). I’ve done the decluttering just hoping to maintain some sort of tidiness especially as we’re soon to be a family of 5 in a 2bed flat😱.
red thank you I’ve been lurking for a while and it does seem like a lovely thread
zoo that’s really beautiful
Sorry to hear about the people feeling unwell. We got a bug about 4 weeks ago and we still haven’t properly shifted it.

THATlittleBANGER · 07/11/2021 06:36

I have MAN flu 😪

ExcessiveIyDisorganised · 07/11/2021 07:11

Oh no That. There's an awful lot of bugs about. I am still coughing morning and night but ok again during the day.

Dancingtomusic · 07/11/2021 07:18

That- oh no (adds lots of cushions and blankets- makes an area for that to lie down.)

Bram- lots of cushions and blankets for you too if you are recovering.

Redsquirrel5 · 07/11/2021 08:51

Morning all. I slept really well which was good because I had pain when I went to sleep and it has gone for now.

That sorry to hear you have Man Flu 🤧 🤒 😷

Bramble I lurked for a while too having been bitten by vipers elsewhere and decided I had found my people. Hope you all feel better soon. Perhaps a short walk and steaming honey and lemon or cocoa this afternoon.

I have Mass, coffee and back for lunch then choir. Flying will be lunch then cleaning kitchen. Putting away 5 item from the dining room.

IWillWearThatGlitteryWoolly · 07/11/2021 08:58

Ooh Bram another thread baby? How lovely! How old are your older two?

Sorry about man flu That. Does this mean you have put on the Dressing Gown of Doom and are shuffling about speaking in a thread of a voice? Any hope of MrThat stepping in to help? 🤞

My traditional winter overnight cough is back, despite religious use of my brown puffer. Can't work out why, unless I am allergic to DH...!

Despite my quiet day yesterday, I was asleep by 10.30! So rock'n'roll in this house. Today, my plans are making pumpkin cheesecake, getting rid of the old bureau via Trash Nothing and a bit more sewing. The roast will also fall to me, due to an unfortunate concatenation of Football 4.30-6.20 followed by a Grand Prix at 7pm, so I have a very small window to serve dinner in!

🍒👋 to everyone, hope you all get an opportunity to renew your spirit.

SingToTheSky · 07/11/2021 09:33

Morning everyone, oh nooo sorry you’re ill that :(

Red this thread is definitely my people too, it’s often the only one on my “threads I’m on” nowadays!

Managed to eke out a lie in of sorts thanks to Little Einsteins on my phone. Need to get up now though really.

po3.1
❗️Meds, ear drops, breakfast
❗️Overnight LOL in dryer
❗️Print some maths for myself

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/11/2021 11:00

Woolly could it be central heating connected? I know that the quality of the air when the central heating is on affects my breathing and sinuses. I know of others whose asthma gets affected by cold and the fact that they don't run the heating over night means that they have a cough first thing.

Back is still very bad this morning. Which is an issue. For those who have spd, i am at the can't stand, can't twist, can't put socks on state. Except without actually having spd or being pregnant. I have definitely caught something.

Ta da
check tank and make note of what still needs doing
start removing things from fridge so i can finish cleaning it out and reorganising.
take pain killers
wonder what safe place i put my back support
find hand warmer so can place one on back hip/lower back
add clear floor and improve inflation on exercise ball to to do list so can work on releasing hip

Sunday is renew your spirit day

Hi. Just place holding really as I don't want to lose the thread. Bit stressed out and struggling with anxiety at the minute mostly due to a situation at work that I'm struggling with and knowing I'm going to have to assert myself and deal with it but dreading it and second guessing myself. I also suspect peri is making me more anxious than usual and making me even less confident in myself?? No idea and very off topic.

Anyway that's why haven't read and not keeping on top of posting sorry.

This weekend I've managed to do a couple of loads of laundry and run the dishwasher twice and pull the kitchen back a little way from clutter and mess and I think I've bought everything ds needs for funeral on Wednesday but now remembered I need to set work for the lessons I'll miss in the afternoon.

Sort of vaguely coping as in no one dead and managing to go to work but feels like walking on a tightrope whilst spinning plates - very overdramatic but that's where anxiety and a racing heart takes me.

Hope everyone has had a nice weekend.

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/11/2021 13:37

Urm honey you do remember that this isnt a stick on topic thread? and that we do do off topic a lot? vent if you need to, we listen.

OP posts:
TheHoneyBadger · 07/11/2021 13:47

I'm just a mess. Anxiety is crazy high today and tearful. Feeling like I've been put in a really unfair situation but anyway I tackle it it'll be me who looks like a troublemaker. I was going to just suck it up but sucking it up has equalled awful sleep, waking up thinking about it and not being able to shake it so i have to deal with it.

Does peri make you more crazy? My hot flushes are under control now but my mental health feels like it's on a knife edge.

SingToTheSky · 07/11/2021 14:00

Oh Honey I was just thinking the other day I hadn’t seen you for a bit. As Hills says please do vent if you need, this is a safe place and we are not just about housework. That sounds like a horrible situation at work 😭 I have heard that sort of thing about peri and anxiety etc. I hope the work thing will be resolved or over soon.

po3.2
❗️Clean planner board
❗️Have second drops and watch or read something while I have to lie down
❗️Sort the huge load of clean laundry

IWillWearThatGlitteryWoolly · 07/11/2021 14:06

Oh, Honey that sounds very hard, I'm sorry. Sending 💐 and 💪.

Things have gone a bit wobbly here as I split my lip this morning in the cold, and because I'm on blood thinners I'm having trouble stopping it bleeding.

Pumpkin cheesecakes made: 1
Episodes of random lip-bleeding: 5.

I am going to sit very still for a while.

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/11/2021 14:34

honey totally!I have been having more tears(once start can stop) for a while.i cry easier too than In My Yoof
I've been having panic attacks this last week I'm 100%are hormone related.i have had them all my life but these are something else...I googled it and it is a thing apparently.as is insomnia.i wish schools taught about these things as I thought hot flushes were it,and (touch wood) haven't had them yet

Sing how's the ears now?
Waves to all I've forgotten to mention

TheHoneyBadger · 07/11/2021 15:06

Thank you and sorry others have/had same.

I've just ordered some beta blockers in the hopes of at least tackling the racing heart and physical side of things. I also managed to book my covid booster online so I guess I can count that as a tada. Before I had to wait to get it via gp system as I was in group 6 rather than for age and I assumed it was the same with boosters but turns out I can book online.

Have put it off till the 23rd in case I have horrible side effects again - my birthday on the 17th plus struggling enough at the minute without adding more.

I'm the same with the easier to start crying (over nothing) then can't stop when I start zoo. I've dealt with depression on and off in my life and anxiety but it feels really different - it's more like the crazy emotional stage of pregnancy than depression for me.

TheHoneyBadger · 07/11/2021 15:07

IWill - sorry about your lip! Have a good lie down.

Mc3209 · 07/11/2021 15:54

Honey that must be so very tough. Sending strength. You can do it!
Willow ouch. I hope it stops soon.

McTiny is better (yay!). I just need to figure out how to get him to drink water. He just plays with his cups and doesn't really drink out of them. We have them all, free flow, straw, open, 360... you name it, we have it. This illness I resorted getting water into him with a syringe, but that's not a sustainable solution. Experienced mummies, please help!

Ta das:
🎉More LOLs
🎉Quick kitchen tidy up
🎉Defrosted legs. Long overdue

HauntingHazel · 07/11/2021 17:39

mc I used to just use a bottle (when they needed it) up until a year old, then I switched to a cup. If it had a no spill lid I made it so it would leak (just so they knew there was something in the cup to drink), once they figured out how to drink from it I put the no spill part back in again, although they weren't that impressed with just water for a while. It was the only thing I offered at first, but did also add a tiny bit of 100% fruit juice at times (or as an incentive to drink from the cup). This was 11+ years ago though since my baby is now 12!

Sorry, that was really long!
I really haven't had any peri symptoms yet, although not had a period the last 2 months 😕 I'm hoping it's just my birth control working really well, or the beginning of the end of periods (I'm 37 and very over having them, although I know that might be too early 🤷‍♀️).
Red I hope your hernia isn't causing you too much discomfort/ pain. I have a hietal hernia that was caused by acid reflux during my first pregnancy. As long as I don't eat too much (and avoid carbs) I don't have any issues with acid reflux any more, but I've never "felt" the hernia, so I wonder if it's a different kind.

honey 💐 for you
woolly pumpkin cheesecake sounds delicious, we're going to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch today and plan on getting me a slice (& not eating the base) for dessert. The split lip doesn't sound good at all.
Sing I hope the drops work for you soon
hills I hope the pain goes away quickly
