Darkness drawing in, Fledgling flying through November

So another month another thread.

first things first: Naughty corner is over there ----> stocked with comfy chairs, blankies, cupboard of comfort food of your desire, something strong if you require and a nice warming fire.

Right next up the formalities.
We loosely follow the fly lady system. It does work if you follow it, but many of us have found that it works better if you combine it with an additional decluttering system to speed up that process. Flylady is more of a maintence system and build routines to prevent system

This is a loooooong running thread. We seem clicky but welcome new blood to the brood, and you will soon catch up. We don't leave fledglings behind. But also we would like to remind you that perfectionism and comparison can be thieves of joy.

This year has been hard, this winter looks like it will also be hard. So remember to be kind to yourselves. We are all juggling a lot. The house, work, kids, animals, partners, bills, being the family brain. This thread is here to support. So if it looks like sometimes we chat more than we fly, then that is ok. Life is more than living in a show home, and real life is chaotic, messy and loud and that is just what it is.

So welcome to November's thread

Thanks for the tea Dancing, I'll take a cup back to bed with me. In my new Christmas mug (I know, too early but I bought it at the weekend and it doesn't seem worth putting away till the start of Dec).

Well, it's been a funny few days here. I developed very mild cold symptoms at the end of last week (tickly throat, slightly achy sinuses, coughing about once a day). It was Dmum's 80th birthday celebration in a restaurant on Sunday so I LFT'd on Fri/Sat/Sun and went along, all was well, no sneezing or coughing. However it ramped up a bit on Mon morning so I have been WFH for 2 days (popped into work on Mon am after taking DS to school, grabbed my stuff and left straight away). Went for a pcr yesterday, came back negative overnight. I have to say the service is much improved, I booked at 7.30 am, tested at 8.30am and got results 18 hours later. So I have had a restful couple of days, haven't done much apart from working, just a couple of LOL. Very relieved at the negative result. Will go back into work today as there is only so much I can do at home but will mask and stay away from others as much as possible.

Oh FFS, just lost a long post, this girl distracted me

Thanks for both the old and the new threads Hills, you’re doing a Sterling job at keeping us all going amongst everything else you have to contend with. It’s appreciated Smile

Phew for negative result ED! What a relief. Hope you’re feeling a bit better too.

Dancing I will put some paint photos on once it’s all done. The grey and beige are on and I love them both. Very happy that you’ve got your chairs.

Happy anniversary for yesterday Hazel!

Goth I love celery soup. I used to make a celery and Stilton one (despite not really liking celery or Stilton that much) and it was gorgeous. You’ve inspired me to dig out the recipe once the house is back together and I’ve started maternity leave.

Shock at the party Zoo. Coke was rife in the pubs etc in my 20s but unheard of in our teens. Sounds like you have a sensible girl there though.

Willow it does sound like you did a lot. It’s frustrating having to take it easy but you were really unwell and it’ll take time Flowers

I had other personals but they have gone so please accept 🍒 👋 to the rest of you lovely lot.

Little flying to report other than emptying and cleaning of rooms, and I’ve made good progress tying up loose ends at work. Painting is on schedule and I feel motivated for the weekend to start organising and putting the house back together. Today I need to clear out from under the decorator’s feet so I’m going to go shopping for xmas bits and visit some family. Should really get up and start getting sorted but I’m comfy under a snoozing cat.

Morning flying through

Garden centre trip - a diff variety of a potos (devils ivy) so i now have 4 distinct looking varietys and a
It is slowly beginning to look like i have plants in here.

Yesterday was a write off day. good for the soul but wholely unproductive otherwise.

Have woken up with a migraine due to temp differentials btwn body and head during night. hopefully some pain killers and water will help that.

Got to be out the house in 30mins as have my 2nd covid shot hopefully.

So in the meantime
launch pad is here
Also did you know she had a youtube channel. yep me neither but apparently it is so. I stumbled across it the other day. Can't say i watched any of the videos though. I was not what i was looking for.

Morning! Happy anniversary yesterday Hazel. I too have to warn DH not to buy things in November / December. You'd think they'd learn! (my brother has to be reminded every year too).

Dancing brilliant decluttering work and I'm glad you got your chairs. If you can't face more toys for the DC for Christmas, what about books, clothes, music, days out? They take up much less space!

StillUp glad you are surviving the painting. Have a lovely day shopping and with family.

Hills are we going to have to come and rescue you from your jungle soon? 😁

ED so pleased it was a negative result and is "just" a cold.

Goth ooh celery soup, lovely. Was it a slightly alarming green, like the tinned stuff was in the 80s? Or was that asparagus? I potentially feel French onion soup with cheese on toast coming on, for lunch today.

Sing hope the computer can be made to behave.

Yesterday, I got lots of little fiddly admin bits done.

pharmacist says no. Sigh... Nought but drama this. All i want is someone to stick me in the arm.

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 03/11/2021 12:41

Oh dear hills are you same with flu jab?

I pulled sofa put to clear corner and hit both mould spots on floor and "melted" fox mints causing hideous sticky patches.ffs
Need lunch before work on both of those...

HillsBesideTheSea · 03/11/2021 13:21

Nope. book appointment pay for jab, get stuck in arm. flu jab is stupid easy.

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 03/11/2021 15:01

Then why can't you have covid one

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/11/2021 15:02

I have cleared and cleared up sticky/mold
It's still stacked stuff and my energy levels are seriously flagging

Dancingtomusic · 03/11/2021 15:03

Hills- do you need a special note saying you can have the 2nd jab due to complications?

Zoo- hope you had a good lunch before yyou started.

Tadas
Cooked to dishes.
One more needing to be made at supper time.
Girl guides day today....arghh

Todo
Sew badge 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Omg the time......
Pick up kids.....arghhhhh

HillsBesideTheSea · 03/11/2021 16:38

Nope, needed a medical setting not a pharmacy led setting. Basically pharmacist was blunt this morning and said that reactions to jab not seen as emergency and it could be a 4hr wait for an ambulance as as where on own doing clinic could not risk any possible reaction.

Found a medical run walk in clinic. No problems. In questions, jabbed, checked up on, left.

I do not need rescuing from my jungle, will happily accept plant donations though to make denser WinkGrin Tbh though if you look at the room you have to look for the plants so when you see the plants first it might be the point i have an issue.

Ds has just been called for 2nd dose as CV. He is suitably unimpressed. Grin

"normal" is the perfect way to describe it sometimes. It is often what they are trying to give the impression of. It takes a lot of work to do that.

How is antiprocrastination day going for everyone?

OP posts:
GoingGoingGoth · 03/11/2021 19:59

Dancing it tastes of celery but not overpowering. There’s a good amount of potato in to tone it down. Glittery it was slightly green as I used the leaves as well. Next time I’ll only do stalks but this was celery I grew and there wasn’t quite enough

ED she’s gorgeous! I’m not surprised she’s a distraction. And great news re the fast negative result

Hills Devil’s Ivy is such a good (robust) plant. Bit envious as I only have 1 type. I’m sat trying to work out where I could smuggle another one in.

I was a lady who bunched today, was lovely to catch up with a friend. The cafe was lovely and quiet as we met up early. It’s set in a local park so I got the chance to walk round the boating lake before she arrived. It’s amazing how nice the weather has been this week

Then when I got home my order from Brown’s had arrived so I’ve planted my onions, shallots & garlic for next year.

Also done

laundry
a bit of tidying up
Helped DD work on her CV
a walk with DH to post box
dinner
large load of washing up

About to do weekly call to Mum, so hope you all have a nice evening

Mc3209 · 03/11/2021 21:24

The nursery bug season is upon us and all three of us have runny noses. How fun.
McTiny had his 1 year jabs today as well, so I kept him home for today and we spent a lovely cosy day together. I really miss him when he is at nursery.

Ta da:
🎉Lovely cleaner did home bleugh
🎉Kitchen sorted after cooking, DW rotated
🎉LOL
🎉Hoovered under the sofa cushions and put on sofaskins cover. Mainly to protect from McTiny as he has taken to biting the furniture. Looks good, but I am not 100% satisfied on how it fits the larger sofa (mainly because sofa is a bit awkward).
🎉Hoovered behind and underneath sofas.

I seem to have defied the current zone. I need to bleach the hallway wall tomorrow though. Ugh, not looking forward to that.

SingToTheSky · 03/11/2021 21:47

Feeling a bit rubbish and sad this evening, but did manage a few hours work throughout the day including my first proper bit of parent engagement which went well.

Ears are getting worse again, it sounds like I have a bumblebee and a bowl of Rice Krispies in each. 🤣

Stilllivinginazoo · 04/11/2021 06:15

sing that's a very unsettling description!hope you feel better today
Hills I finished main section of the baby blankie as my anti procrastinatingand started the border which has a leaf like pattern.i need to do 46 leaves....
