Darkness drawing in, Fledgling flying through November

HillsBesideTheSea · 31/10/2021 12:13

So another month another thread.

first things first: Naughty corner is over there ----> stocked with comfy chairs, blankies, cupboard of comfort food of your desire, something strong if you require and a nice warming fire.

Right next up the formalities.
We loosely follow the fly lady system. It does work if you follow it, but many of us have found that it works better if you combine it with an additional decluttering system to speed up that process. Flylady is more of a maintence system and build routines to prevent system

This is a loooooong running thread. We seem clicky but welcome new blood to the brood, and you will soon catch up. We don't leave fledglings behind. But also we would like to remind you that perfectionism and comparison can be thieves of joy.

This year has been hard, this winter looks like it will also be hard. So remember to be kind to yourselves. We are all juggling a lot. The house, work, kids, animals, partners, bills, being the family brain. This thread is here to support. So if it looks like sometimes we chat more than we fly, then that is ok. Life is more than living in a show home, and real life is chaotic, messy and loud and that is just what it is.

So welcome to November's thread

willow after your recent hospitalisation I'd say your body isn't ready for so much activity and which I get the impatient patient you need to pace yourself lovely

I've washed 8loads today,and there's STILL more

Dd2 came in having had fairly good day

Stilllivinginazoo · 01/11/2021 19:35
YesIReallyHave · 01/11/2021 21:12

willow sorry to hear that you're still not fit. That was rather a lot of stuff you got done, I maybe think that your body needs more rest. Major trauma and general unwellness means you may have to take it more slowly, no matter how frustrating it is. Perhaps talk to your GP about it too. Flowers

zoo poor lil zoo. Sorry to hear that her day didn't go well. Have I got this right that DD2 didn't attend a party and she found out after the event they had coke there? Goodness.

Tada
Work
Cooking
Bought a glass scraper thingy for halogen hob and was busy scraping bits off - looks good as new. So pleased. Did some scraping of tiles behind hob. So pleased with it. Next stop shower screen (in a few days)
Helped mum to cancel subscription that she accidently acquired on AppStore
Supported DS with homework
Tidy kitchen and living room
LoL out
Clothes sorted out for tomorrow

My monthly habit is going to be to go to bed by 10.30 pm as I have got into a bad routine. I can't meal plan because I always change my mind and then it becomes a pointless exercise.

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/11/2021 21:34

Soooo....

I can't be trusted in a garden centre....

Blush

Zoo blooming heck. at least ds' piers were only into NOx and weed. I have no doubt that stronger is probably lurking amongst some circles.

willow be kind to yourself as you figure things out. it has been one hell of a couple years between external exam centres, exams, covid, health issues, etc. It is a big ask. I also know that when i have anesthetic it knocks me out for 3 weeks (even if day surgery when you get sent home). And i feel rough for longer. I hope you can get some answers.

Sing how are you adjusting to the new routines? other than being too busy to post

yesI l like that plan of a decent bedtime, I hope it helps you. I would say i would to the same but i have a horrific rep for never being able to stick to it consistantly.

Stilllivinginazoo · 01/11/2021 21:45

yes that's correct.she doesn't smoke and hates idea being drunk as her anxiety hates not being in control.shes a stickler for rules and morality.shes in shock and outrage at it all

IWillWearThatGlitteryWoolly · 01/11/2021 22:09

Heavens zoo that is horrifying. I was quite horrified enough when coke appeared at a works' do of DH's (and caused interviews about gross misconduct the following day!) but I would be very worried by it appearing at teen parties. Although I know there was a huge problem with it at the school my big boys went to.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. You are all quite right, I can't actually be expected to feel normal yet and as well as the pulmonary stuff I also still have a slight limp and a year's worth of reduced fitness from when I first hurt my foot last October. It was foolish of me to think I could just spring out of bed and behave like it was 2019! Also I sort of forgot to eat, which never helps.

Now, Hills: would you like to tell the thread about your Garden Centre Adventure? 😁

Yes consistent bedtimes are definitely the answer. Must get off here!

Dancing so glad you managed the drive. Does this mean you have your chairs?

SingToTheSky · 01/11/2021 22:15

Long and highly unproductive evening here. I did read lots though which was nice, and at least I got some BRC sorting done even if it’s a drop in the ocean.

po3.3
❗️Wash painting sheets (is that the done thing? I know they’ll still be painty but at least some should wash out and then I can fold them neatly into the cupboard)
❗️Check work email/chat
❗️Prep more for maths tomorrow

TheHoneyBadger · 01/11/2021 23:09

Sorry - found thread and am just setting up my spot in the naughty corner for now.

SingToTheSky · 01/11/2021 23:21

Decided I should really start doing ta da lists sometime soon. Think I stopped in September but hopefully it’ll help keep me motivated again now!

ta da
🎷LOLs (2 or 3)
🎺work
🎷anti procrastination with a couple of emails
🎺lots of reading
🎷tidied some books
🎺bit of BRC diving
🎷lots of maths resource prep

I have a few ta didn’ts too, but I’m going to focus on the positives!

(But, erm, finding my work laptop charger may be on the to do list for tomorrow morning…)

Going to read a bit more now and then sleep. Night all 💐

Dancingtomusic · 02/11/2021 00:51

Sing- night lovely. Hope you sleep well.

Zoo- coke! At that age? I am horrified.
Thank god your dd is sensible.

Woolly- I do think that we are led to believe we are actual tennis balls and we can bounce back - sometimes it takes alittle while.
Have you just not been feeling hungry?
My italian neighbour who is the most organised person i hv ever, ever met told me - She has to have a nap everyday from 1pm - 2pm - 'its my time- i dont do anything- the children no- the house no. Women need to rest- otherwise its go, go, go. Its too much.'
Naps are very common in hot countries and we in the uk didnt do it. Maybe its lack hot weather? How do you feel after the naps?

Yes, I hv got the dining chairs. I hv hidden the large box of in the downstairs wc- which is full of charity donations bags. 😆 hopefully dh wont go in there.
I hv told myself to get on and declutter- clean the kitchen and then reward myself by keeping the chairs.

SingToTheSky · 02/11/2021 07:54

I am definitely not a tennis ball. I am a muddy, deflating basketball. 🤣

po3.1
❗️Breakfast and meds
❗️Try and figure out where the hell the laptop charger is
❗️Shower and dressed

YesIReallyHave · 02/11/2021 07:55

dancing well done on getting new chairs, but why are you hiding them from DH? (Confused)

zoo glad dd2 is going to keep her distance from her "friends".

Great tada list.

tada
Got into bed at 10.10, read a bit, did relax on app and probably asleep by 11pm. Yay me. Day 1 achieved.

YesIReallyHave · 02/11/2021 07:56

Great tada list.was to sing

Dancingtomusic · 02/11/2021 09:23

Morning everyone ☕

Yup- weldone for getting to sleep early!
My house is abit very cluttered. I have been working hard to declutter downstairs- its 75% done now. (I love well designed toys and well designed items. I love crafts and saving things to reuse and make things love clothes too.) Dh can be friendly and chirpy but sometimes he can be a big downer. I feel until I have completed sort downstairs- I wont get the chairs out.
I havent told him about wanting these chairs and I am very stubborn if I want something- I will make it happen. (The chairs were on a big discount and I couldnt leave them as they will sell out.) I didnt want him to burst my bubble by saying I shouldnt get them.
This thread has been wonderful support to me on trying change my house so I can let people into my house.
Dh bought me my pink dining chairs i currently have for my birthday. Will add some pictures later! (My kitchen is in icecream colours.) Mainly the dining chairs are a present to myself - for working hard and sorting out the house and hopefully it will encourage me to stay ontop of tidying and cleaning to keep the house looking pretty.

HalfHope · 02/11/2021 10:35

Morning. Dark and cold up here. Off to do online shop.

GoingGoingGoth · 02/11/2021 11:42

Good morning, I also would like to hear about Hills Garden centre adventure.
I’ve just ordered all my onions, garlic & shallots for next year so I’ve already spent this month’s garden allowance.

I’ve almost completed my weekly bleugh and it’s only Tuesday,
October was so busy, I took the opportunity of it being dry yesterday to catch up in the garden. Third of a wheelie bin later and I feel I’m on top of the weeds.
Also got in my celery and my 2 tiny butternut squashes.

Off to check this week’s missions and I’ll check back in later

Stilllivinginazoo · 02/11/2021 11:57

dancing sometimes we need to treat ourselves as often the work we do goes unnoticed and we feel unappreciated 💖
Goth well done on the garden.always irks me that's not included in flyladys routines

I woke in night cold, then wasn't awake again til alarm went off at 630!!
Tada
Cats fed
Wash in
Wake dd2 for meds

Wash in drier
More in
School run/grab spread as ran out and bread
My breakfast
Scrub dining table
Clean around TV unit
Clean mantlepiece and around fireplace
Take D's out for a walk as he's irritable and thinking too much today about school tomorrow
Was lovely in the sunshine
Now to tackle my corner of front room

Dancingtomusic · 02/11/2021 15:55

Dancingtomusic · 02/11/2021 20:31

GoingGoingGoth · 02/11/2021 22:19

Food shopping dancing - I have only one Christmas present bought...

HauntingHazel · 03/11/2021 03:48

zoo I'm shocked about the coke! That was a good idea from your DD2 to not go to the party.
hills sounds like you have some fessing up to do in regards to your trip to the garden centre 😂
willow your body is still in recovery mode.
Sing I never would have thought to check the top of the fridge for the charger 🤣
hope I have a lot bought already and others planned for, but still not done. I haven't started on DH yet, although know what I'm getting him (& so does he 🤬)

We had our anniversary today, went out for both lunch & dinner so I didn't have to cook.
Ta Das:
🍁 took Halloween decorations down
🍁 S&S both bathrooms
🍁 dusted living room & bedrooms
🍁 DH used the leaf blower to clean up leaves
🍁 DS mowed to pick up said leaves
🍁 autumn decorations back out inside and outside
🍁 washed sheets from our bed
🍁 got my clothes out for tomorrow

I found out that a coworker has Covid, so we'll be short handed for a week or 2 now.
I got a new smart watch for our anniversary, DH is jealous as mine is better than his! He just got a cheap one for himself. A nice one is going to be his Christmas present, but I had to tell him that he needs to wait until Christmas or he'll buy himself one 🙄

Anyway, I need be getting ready for bed, I'm trying to go to sleep earlier, but not really working 😴

🍒👋 to everyone I missed

Dancingtomusic · 03/11/2021 05:54

Morning ☕

Hazel- hope you get some sleep. Happy aniversary for yesterday. I forgot to say your Halloween party sounded great. Thought you were going to write - 'used leaf blower to clean up rest of party stuff.' 😆

Goth- i hv never tried celery soup- does it hv a strong flavour?
Mmm apple crumble sounds amazing. I hv to make on for the kids.

Sing- i love a snuggly blanket too. Great you found the charger.

Half- one present is closer to done- than none...lol.
I bought 1 present for dh. Thats it. I cant bear looking at more toys for the kids to never touch after opening the box.

Red- how are you? Hope the floods by passed you all.

Leaves a big pot of tea and coffee- warming on the fire- in the naughty corner.
