Darkness drawing in, Fledgling flying through November

HillsBesideTheSea · 31/10/2021 12:13

So another month another thread.

first things first: Naughty corner is over there ----> stocked with comfy chairs, blankies, cupboard of comfort food of your desire, something strong if you require and a nice warming fire.

Right next up the formalities.
We loosely follow the fly lady system. It does work if you follow it, but many of us have found that it works better if you combine it with an additional decluttering system to speed up that process. Flylady is more of a maintence system and build routines to prevent system

This is a loooooong running thread. We seem clicky but welcome new blood to the brood, and you will soon catch up. We don't leave fledglings behind. But also we would like to remind you that perfectionism and comparison can be thieves of joy.

This year has been hard, this winter looks like it will also be hard. So remember to be kind to yourselves. We are all juggling a lot. The house, work, kids, animals, partners, bills, being the family brain. This thread is here to support. So if it looks like sometimes we chat more than we fly, then that is ok. Life is more than living in a show home, and real life is chaotic, messy and loud and that is just what it is.

So welcome to November's thread

New to this thread (and very late haha) but placemarking so I can come back for inspiration!

SingToTheSky · 17/11/2021 10:14

Hi vanilla welcome! Never too late, we run all year it’s just that we have a new thread for each month. 😀

Maths was good except for the PC being weird AGAIN. Getting so annoyed.

po3.2
❗️Painkillers and ear drops
❗️Arrange one to one with manager and fill in form
❗️Clean weekly planner board… yes I know it’s Wednesday 😳

HillsBesideTheSea · 17/11/2021 10:28

my mobile network is down. Hmm

Hope you get the computer thing sorted. I know mine has done an update over night and needs rebooting this morning.

Zoo woke up randomly - had to pee didnt want to get out of warm bed to do so. Dosed until 7am when had to get ds up, then crash HARD just work up and feeling very very discombobulated.

OP posts:
SingToTheSky · 17/11/2021 12:16

Now there’s a word you don’t hear often enough! Discombobulated I’d rather apt here too.

po3.2
❗️Catch up on WhatsApp etc for volunteering and work
❗️Volunteer call at 1
❗️Maths with DS

SingToTheSky · 17/11/2021 12:22

IS rather apt.

Apparently autocorrect is also discombobulated

HillsBesideTheSea · 17/11/2021 12:24

One of my favourite words.

Ta da
deal with the issue of amazon and visa credit cards
have a cooked breakfast
try to resolve the issue of mobile network down (sorted eventually)
realise that I have a thumping headache and put make a peppermint and pine balm on the to make list (which means i should probably put some peppermint in to steep if i haven't got some brewing already.
Check oil to beeswax ratio

I should actually get up and go deal with the mould in ds' room (sigh) but at least the tea tree will clear the sinuses.

Hi vanilla welcome! No such thing as late to Flylady and our motto is No Fledgling Left Behind.

Hills sorry you've crashed, I have too. Got DD safely out the door at 0745 and went straight back to bed. Am taking today OFF, apart from the tennis/ pick up DD / Tesco run between 4.45 and 6.15.

Sing hope DD1 got to school and your lesson was ok.

Red excellent further suggestions for DS1's GF - I must check if there are any allergies, DS1 has extremely sensitive skin (must use Sanex, keeps diprobase and sudocream on hand at all times) so I am out of the habit of thinking of nice creams etc in the same bracket as him.

Zoo very sorry to hear about poor puss, hope she perks up soon. It's at times like that that I remember my least favourite point with DC is the point-and-grunt phase just before they can actually communicate what's up.

Yesterday, I had an adventure - DS2 cut his petrol too fine and rang from about six miles away to say he was stuck at a client's house. Only six miles is fine, but naturally it was 5.15pm when the closest we get to a rush hour was going on, so it took me 90 minutes to get to him, take him to a petrol station to buy a jerry can and petrol, take him back to the car and get home. Obviously, it was all down twisty country lanes that are pretty terrifying in daylight, nevermind in the dark! But we've all learned from it and next time he can walk!

So today, I am sewing and reading and that is it. Tea may be from the chippy.

StillUp · 17/11/2021 13:52

Ooh chippy tea sounds good

I am tired and grumpy. But it is my day off and I only have two days left before mat leave starts so I should not be grumpy. I have an ante-natal appointment in an hour and some things I wanted to do before I go but I seem to be stuck under a cat and my motivation is nowhere to be found. I do have some ta das though:
✅ completed school run on time
✅ LOL (basket is only half full for the first time in ages)
✅ sorted a tricksy return and DLMS when there were many obstacles
✅ put away clean clothes
✅ DW emptied and on, hand wash dishes done, benches wiped
✅ swept kitchen floor
✅ 2 minute room rescues of living room and bedroom
✅ phoned some relatives I needed to catch up with
✅ supermarket trip and half shopping put away
✅ chocolate chip shortbread devoured.

Hi Vanilla!

Can’t believe it’s the end of your mat leave Mc! Hope it’s going well. It’ll take a bit of time to find your routine, but you will. I got a few surprised faces when I returned pretty much full time. Bet our DHs didn’t get any raised eyebrows though 😠

Hope kitty is feeling better today Zoo

IWillWearThatGlitteryWoolly · 17/11/2021 13:55

Bake the salmon now and put it in the fridge / back in the freezer, StillUp!

I heartily advocate chippy teas all round!

Mc3209 · 17/11/2021 15:29

Chippy tea, now we are talking!
Thank you for words of encouragement, everyone!
Sing it feels a bit strange to be back at work, but at the same time, as if I never left. Bizarre

Up two days until mat leave! I bet you are excited! I want another mat leave 😬

DH has been driving me nuts in the past few days. He insists on coming along with me to nursery drop off (I do it myself every morning, he really doesn't need to come, he wants to for some reason). He criticises Every. Single. Little. Thing. I am not using my car wipers right, I am defrosting the car for too long, I am driving the wrong route, I am parking in a wrong way. I was THIS close to getting him out at the curb. He doesn't even need to be in the car!! Ggggrrrr.

Ta das:
🎉Home bleugh is done by the cleaner
🎉Some semblance of morning routine is taking shape
🎉Future friending left, right, and centre.

Mc3209 · 17/11/2021 15:29

Zoo I hope your kitty is ok.

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/11/2021 16:28

MC if you kill him I will be your alibiWink
Poor furbaby has eaten some wet meat and been a little perkier thanks.i spoilt her with a new toy and she pounded it with her back legs and trilled at it which is HUGE so I was nearly in tears.she then put herself to be in D's room,(I forgot to turn off feliway and fell asleep so I havebeen inhaling calming cat vibes🤣🤣🤣)
Did bit shop this morning(no fruit, bread, milk) as dad took D's to school I had transport.goid job as still struggling with breathing/sore joints etc.i swear it's some kind of flare as 3rd time I've had joint pain, gut unsettledand mouth ulcer that won't go away, exhaustion and palpitations.plus I've had permanent swollen neck glands for gawd knows how long...
All vague stuff so pointless ringing go expecting an app,I just try suck it up,rest and hope it goes soon☹️

HillsBesideTheSea · 17/11/2021 17:47

Teen is a whole heap of offs tonight. Which considering we basically had to trash his room to get to all the areas affected with mould AND have the window open for 3hrs is totally fair when he came in cold and tired and wanted to take a nap. especially as there is no where else to take a nap

OP posts:
IWillWearThatGlitteryWoolly · 17/11/2021 19:54

DS2 bought me flowers to say thank you for rescuing him. He can stay 🥰.

Mc3209 · 17/11/2021 20:11

Hills sending coffee.
Woolly how lovely! That's a wonderful gesture.
Zoo thanks! I chuckled at calming cat vibes 🤣

HillsBesideTheSea · 17/11/2021 20:30

ds has got to bed already, he was that tired. Tbh I am not that far behind him

OP posts:
SingToTheSky · 18/11/2021 09:35

Morning all. Didn’t get as much sleep as I hoped last night and I’m a bit anxious about the next couple of days as there’s so much going on - I didn’t realise either that DH has two work events (this was really not the week to neglect the weekly planner board) so childcare is going to be a real juggling act.

MC I’m sorry DH is being a DH [alternative meaning]. If you see what I mean.

po3.1
❗️Quick bit of work on laptop
❗️Get Cagletini happily in front of Netflix so I can join panel at 10 while DH has therapy 😬
❗️Look at to do list and sort out what needs doing and who can do it

HillsBesideTheSea · 18/11/2021 09:40

Morning.

Errand day

launch pad here

sometimes i remember links, not often but sometimes

OP posts:
HillsBesideTheSea · 18/11/2021 09:42

sing sometimes the tv does need to be a babysitter. and a snack box set out to be a picnic can go a looooong way. Especially if you can make a quick blanket fort. Yeah too much effort but the tv bit stands. good luck with the juggling.

OP posts:
vanillaskies · 18/11/2021 10:13

Morning all - baby slept great last night but I've managed to pull my back out, so planning a day on the sofa as much as possible! Going to have to cancel our swimming session annoyingly Sad

Redsquirrel5 · 18/11/2021 10:47

Hi
Woolly glad to be of some help. Lovely about the flowers...brought up well.

Hills to put a donkey in!

Zoo wonder if it works for teens.🤔

Welcome Vanilla hope your back eases. Maybe some stretches on the floor might ease it. How old is baby?

Baking today. Maybe squeeze in a local Christmas Market with BF.

Fruit cake weighed out and fruit soaking as I found the brandy...I hadn’t drunk it.
Orange Polenta to make. Gardening Club tonight.👍

No flying yet.

merryhouse · 18/11/2021 10:48

oooh, just realised yesterday was officially anti-procrastination day. I was on message!

TaDa
rang Allianz to set up instrument insurance again (neglected to renew, back in March...)
rang the doctors for a flu jab, got an appointment same day (there was a clinic)
emailed Sis about a Christmas presents thing
put optician's appointment in phone calendar, once I'd found the slip (finally remembered that I'd been using the bumbag on Saturday Grin)
took in another parcel (nibling presents)
picked celery, froze stuff didn't use
made shepherds pie
got flu jab
discovered new sort of Snickers bar - smooth peanut butter. It was quite nice
cut nails
managed to teach small child the initial concept of his kata... also managed to keep half an eye on the two older boys practising the same one and gave them a couple of pointers (it's not a dance!)

Raised an eyebrow at a thread where posters were telling the op she was buying for "far too many people" - her and her partner's parental figures, two niblings each and their best friends. I mean okay, she was talking about going into (further) debt to pay for Christmas, but ten presents isn't very many is it? (In total it was costing her less than the £300 on her daughter that is apparently "paring right back to the minimum" Grin - to be fair, rather more people were telling her that was a ridiculous sum)

vanillaskies · 18/11/2021 11:45

@Redsquirrel5 have been lying on the floor while she's in her chair! Painkillers seem to have taken the edge off. She's nearly 4 months now!

HillsBesideTheSea · 18/11/2021 12:17

red that just leads to more questions!

Why are you putting a donkey in a stable? is it a real donkey?

ta da
give ds a lift to school
write a master oh shit i've got to do all that by friday evening list
get started on said list
put stuff into dryer
spend most of the morning working on the dumping zone loving referred to as my bedroom
