Darkness drawing in, Fledgling flying through November

HillsBesideTheSea · 31/10/2021 12:13

So another month another thread.

first things first: Naughty corner is over there ----> stocked with comfy chairs, blankies, cupboard of comfort food of your desire, something strong if you require and a nice warming fire.

Right next up the formalities.
We loosely follow the fly lady system. It does work if you follow it, but many of us have found that it works better if you combine it with an additional decluttering system to speed up that process. Flylady is more of a maintence system and build routines to prevent system

This is a loooooong running thread. We seem clicky but welcome new blood to the brood, and you will soon catch up. We don't leave fledglings behind. But also we would like to remind you that perfectionism and comparison can be thieves of joy.

This year has been hard, this winter looks like it will also be hard. So remember to be kind to yourselves. We are all juggling a lot. The house, work, kids, animals, partners, bills, being the family brain. This thread is here to support. So if it looks like sometimes we chat more than we fly, then that is ok. Life is more than living in a show home, and real life is chaotic, messy and loud and that is just what it is.

So welcome to November's thread

Perhaps they just think the time has gone quicker than they expected MC your right it isn’t at all unusual these days.

Hills if the workmen turn up on time that will be a plus. You seem to be getting stuff done despite ‘the people’ and hope DS helps do his share every little is a plus.

Sing it amazes me how much you achieve now.😀

That hope you are tucked up and asleep after your early alarm call.

Zoo 🤬DP not surprised you are tired after that list.

Well today went a bit pair shaped. Finished another scarf last night so got DH to help me measure it. Not sure how many I have done now but going to have a break and knit for another charity which is local and needs things for people who have lost a baby. It was linked to the scarf charity and requesting help. I have some odds and ends of baby wool so that will be a good use for it.
Didn’t eat breakfast but wished I had later.
Some of home bleugh done.
Found a magazine rack in bedroom so going through that. Craft magazines, house ones and random stuff in rest including two painting DD did when she was little. Decluttered a lot of it then DH came to say did I want to go for a bit of shopping. It was 2:30pm when we got there and I was starving. We had something in the cafe too much I gave DH some of it. Just a very full tikka baguette, frites and coleslaw.
Bought some tulips to plant, pansies and violas. The violas smell wonderful when we went to that section, it was dusk so the scent was stronger than I expected. I bought the last green pot to go with one I have on the kitchen windowsill. It was £12.99 but I got 20 % off plus some other vouchers.£4.99 for the saucer.
Pair of small snippers which I manage to get £6:50 off so £3 which is great because I have a pair but lost the damn things somewhere.

Vouchers arrived this morning for 20% of all purchases including some food shop we had. Usually I put the vouchers away and then quite often forget them until after the date. The date was up tomorrow but they only arrived today. Maybe that is the way forward. I bought two Christmas presents cocoa and some Lily Brian chocolates the pudding ones. They will do for someone if I can resist them.

DH said on the way that we ‘had Christmas nearly sorted’ 🙄 the reality is I have ordered the seafood, the turkey and the he did the veggie box on line today. I have bought four presents and have ideas for two more. I found some brown paper today so I will make a stamp for that.

I haven’t made any cakes yet so I will hopefully make two this week maybe tomorrow. I need to make a cake for gardening club as we are on teas and church for a birthday. So that is four different cakes this week.
Need to do ironing. Ned and Ted seem to have gone AWOL since covid 🙍🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️
Bathroom is good for this week. It is small so can do it in a day then start dining room which seems to be a dumping ground.

Had pain in my side again but not out. I have a scan booked for the end of the month, emergency one!

Redsquirrel5 · 16/11/2021 00:49

Woolly. So glad about that good news. You must be so relieved as a family. I hope the tiredness improves soon but you have been through a lot.

Stocking fillers for the ‘extra’ bamboo socks, chocolate orange, hand cream, Christmas Book , gloves?

Bramble cute tree. Don’t worry about name we didn’t have one at 11am and the registrar was shut at 12. DS2 as DH didn’t like my choice. We had enough choosing DS1’s name.
Brilliant list but don’t forget to get your feet up a bit too.

Sing hope you get your slot.

IWillWearThatGlitteryWoolly · 16/11/2021 06:38

Ugh. Morning. Stupid hound woke me up at 5 and I couldn't get back to sleep so I am downstairs on the sofa with a cup of tea, fluffling a needy woof and typing with one thumb.

Mc wow, big day! Your new routine will work itself out soon, be kind to yourself in the meantime. Back fulltime is not odd, and if it suits you and your family it's best.

Bramble lovely tree! So cheering in the dark mornings. Good luck finding a name for Bramblette. Do you think s/he will go overdue and be a Christmas baby? (I say that, but DD was born in the first week of December and I think of her as my Christmas baby).

Red I feel your pain on "Christmas is nearly done". DH does (and has always done) the majority if the gift buying and is well on top of that. But apart from meat and crackers, we are definitely NOT almost done otherwise! Thanks for stocking ideas for the Extra, I was thinking of very similar things although had not spotted handcream as a possible. DS1 suggested fluffy socks and Father Christmas always brings a book or puzzle, jam, chocolate coins etc.

Hills hope the burning was cathartic (bank statement notwithstanding) and the people are less peopley today.

Yesterday turned out to be unexpectedly busy. Ta da:
❤️ Planning
🧡 Christmas budget meeting
💛 Physio (ow)
💚 I GOT DS2 TO DO HIS PAPERWORK! 🥳🥳 Go me.
💙 Lunch at 2.45
💜 was just about to walk hound when DD rang in a flap for a lift home
❤️ Collected DD
🧡 Walked dog
💛 Cooked tea
💚 Went to bed!

And now we begin again. Today is a day of writing, whether anyone else likes it or not. Oh, and I have a ta da:
❤️ Booked Tesco shop for 30 November. Cannot fathom why DH hasn't signed us up to delivery saver and now everyone is trying to do it for the Christmas slots. Damn.

SingToTheSky · 16/11/2021 08:47

Ah that’s a shame about the delivery slots willow - we have been using delivery saver for a few years now and it’s definitely worth it for us.

Happened to wake just before my 6am alarm and there were already 125k queuing ahead of me 😳 so just repeatedly set the timer and dozed. Got there in the end. Don’t think I’ve ever managed to get a Christmas Eve slot before, amazing what passes for excitement these days isn’t it 🙈

Anyway, DH and DD1 have just left for the hospital. Other two are still dozing, I’ll leave Cagletini to sleep as long as possible and do the meeting downstairs.

po3.1
❗️Get dressed, take laptop and charger down and have breakfast
❗️Wake DS and make sure he gets dressed and ready for chemistry - need to find out what time he’s getting picked up too 💕
❗️Log on to emails, check agenda etc and find notebook

Oh, Cagletini has woken up anyway.

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/11/2021 09:43

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/11/2021 09:49

*didn't mean to post yet.ooops

Craft drawers tidied
Stack paperwork sorted/add recycling as appropriate
Changed damp traps
Put cat tree back and wiped it of fur
Sorted a box "stuff"- discovered screwdrivers, paint scraper, tape measure(a mythical thing in our house),pliers, wire cutters and general Useful Things(moved to cupboard understairs as homeless but now out of line of vision)

Need to do loads more stuff but really not feeling it todaywho has pointy stick?

IWillWearThatGlitteryWoolly · 16/11/2021 10:08

Ta da: sent email about flu vaccination for DS3

Hope cat perks up soon, zoo. Poor puss.

Hope DD1's xray is clear, Sing.

Must do writing.

SingToTheSky · 16/11/2021 12:22

Meeting just finished 😵‍💫 so much for being a shorter one today! But lots accomplished and I have new potential responsibilities so that’s exciting.

Got just over an hour now.

po3.2
❗️Eat something and caffeinate!
❗️Attempt to find notes from last therapy session and read a few notes I made in advance of today’s
❗️Make self and zoom background a bit more presentable

SingToTheSky · 16/11/2021 12:24

Oh and DH is back from hospital, thankfully no fracture so DD1 has gone back to school. Should feel better in 7-10 days.

IWillWearThatGlitteryWoolly · 16/11/2021 13:08

Oh phew, good news there Sing.

Ta didn't: actually send email about flu jab, because the council got the email address wrong on the website and it bounced back 🤬

HillsBesideTheSea · 16/11/2021 13:58

Woolly

SingToTheSky · 16/11/2021 16:56

Aaargh that is so frustrating about the jabs woolly and hills!

Therapy session was really lovely. Likely won’t have another now until she’s back to face to face sessions next year as I don’t feel in desperate need anymore. She’s also said I can pick her brains about a work project (her work background inc phd is autism related)

po3.3
❗️Piano lesson then fast walk back up so DH can leave for meeting
❗️Cook a decent dinner for myself and relax while eating
❗️Ear drops when DH gets home as the pain is back 🤬😭

HazelNuttyElf · 16/11/2021 17:57

I just switched my name back to a more festive name 🤶 even though Thanksgiving is next Thursday!
Ta Das:
🦃 2 LOLs, including bedding
🦃 bathrooms cleaned, including floors
🦃 Skyped mum
🦃 put screen protector on my smart active watch
🦃 dressed, makeup on, hair done
🦃 currently airing out house, the wind outside is helping nicely

To do:
⚡ make bed
⚡ get another LOL in
⚡ go to MILs house to get Harry Potter tree decorated (needs to be done by next Tuesday)
⚡ go grocery shopping
⚡ make casserole for DH (they're having a pot luck at work on Friday)
⚡ possibly put gel on my toes
⚡ workout with DH

We have started to be more active, DH and I. He wanted to start doing yoga with me 🤯 so we have been doing a few minutes at night for the past week or so. Last night we started another workout, cardio, full body workout. It was a beginner stage, and my God, it was BRUTAL! It will be yoga again tonight, thank God! But oh do I ache today 😳 I didn't realise how out of shape I had got, which frustrated me no end, knowing I used to do some hardcore HIIT workouts (not very well, mind you) 😅 but that was a few years ago now.
Anyway, must get going, that to do list isn't going to do itself, unfortunately!

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/11/2021 18:00

sing oh no.hope ears feel better again quickly
Hills surely covid jabs are vital to keep teachers from dropping thus keeping school open.stupid rules

Well Nelly ended up at vets.suspected neurological issue and as MRI is extremely expensive, anti seizure meds are to be tried which need bloods monthly as can cause liver issues if dose is slightly out...
And feliway,as anxiety over feeling strange stopping her going to the loo

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/11/2021 18:00

My poor fur baby

Darkness drawing in, Fledgling flying through November
HillsBesideTheSea · 16/11/2021 19:39

Zoo he had his 1st back in august, but was classed as cv so has to have a second. So technically he has had the jab for keeping the teachers safe, this is more about keeping him safe. We'll make it work.

I bought ice cream. I ate ice cream. I have regrets. But not about eating ice cream

OP posts:
HillsBesideTheSea · 16/11/2021 19:39

Sorry about the kitty Sad

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 16/11/2021 19:54

Given CV bang out order he can't do it thenAngry
And thanks.poor things tearing at my heartstrings

HillsBesideTheSea · 16/11/2021 21:42

tbf it is my fuck up. They have one day a term for psh stuffs and fair warnings are given it is this day and not optional. I didnt check my email. And teen asked to switch not school saying nope.

I have just had ds help me find a screw driver for some battery powered fairy lights. He wanted to know what i was going to do with them because they were very bright. Apparently the answer "light up a dark corner" was enough to end the conversation GrinGrin

On a down side he has found mould when he was cleaning his room out. Which means I am going to have to deal with that tomo.

OP posts:
SingToTheSky · 16/11/2021 23:11

kittyhugs

Piano was good, bit worn out this evening though! I luckily remembered to reset alarm as I have maths in the morning.

House is an absolute state. I can’t even 😭

Night folks x

Redsquirrel5 · 17/11/2021 01:37

Woolly I was thinking of hand cream because all this sterilising hands at shops makes them so dry. Fun flashing earrings? Bath bomb. Shampoo bar. Co op honey covered peanuts and cashews unless allergic to nuts or anyone in the house then maybe popcorn.

Zoo poor puss cat.

Sing that is brilliant.

Hazel we might be getting a yoga class in the village if enough people are keen.😀

Hills I have no regrets about the chocolate I ate.

Nothing much achieved here. Pottered looked at recipes, wondered whether to contact GP as in pain all day but not severe.
Weighed out the Christmas ingredients only to find I had no brandy to soak it in. Look at how to make a stable out of pallets.
1 LOL
Must go to sleep.

HazelNuttyElf · 17/11/2021 03:58

We started on the tree! That's about it for the rest of the day though, hopefully we'll finish the tree on Saturday, and I'll take pictures of the finished product then.
Actually I did make our bed & finish the 2nd LOL, but nothing else.
I was at MILs for 6 hours this afternoon though.

Anyway, I plan on doing yoga with DH and taking a shower before going to bed tonight. I'll have to figure out the other things I still have to do another night.

💐 for you zoo
Red & woolly you are both more organised than me! Every year I plan on being more organised for Christmas, and every year I'm stressed and scrambling until wee hours of the morning on Christmas Eve, so it seems anyway. I have actually made quite a bit of headway on gifts this year already, but as always, I'm sure I'll miss something or someone 🤦‍♀️

HillsBesideTheSea · 17/11/2021 05:32

red why are you making a stable?

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 17/11/2021 06:28

hills why are you awake at silly o'clock?

SingToTheSky · 17/11/2021 08:36

I do not want to be awake. 😭
I think DD1 didn’t either as I think I can hear her which means she overslept and is late for school. 😬

po3.1
❗️Meds, dressed, breakfast
❗️Switch on PC and get set up for lesson
❗️Teach at 9
