Darkness drawing in, Fledgling flying through November

HillsBesideTheSea · 31/10/2021 12:13

So another month another thread.

first things first: Naughty corner is over there ----> stocked with comfy chairs, blankies, cupboard of comfort food of your desire, something strong if you require and a nice warming fire.

Right next up the formalities.
We loosely follow the fly lady system. It does work if you follow it, but many of us have found that it works better if you combine it with an additional decluttering system to speed up that process. Flylady is more of a maintence system and build routines to prevent system

This is a loooooong running thread. We seem clicky but welcome new blood to the brood, and you will soon catch up. We don't leave fledglings behind. But also we would like to remind you that perfectionism and comparison can be thieves of joy.

This year has been hard, this winter looks like it will also be hard. So remember to be kind to yourselves. We are all juggling a lot. The house, work, kids, animals, partners, bills, being the family brain. This thread is here to support. So if it looks like sometimes we chat more than we fly, then that is ok. Life is more than living in a show home, and real life is chaotic, messy and loud and that is just what it is.

So welcome to November's thread

I have written and submitted my essay

Go me

brambleon · 18/11/2021 19:29

I’m actually awful at keeping up with this thread😧. Ive just been coasting the last couple of days getting over DS’s bug. I did get to the laundrette yesterday to do our wash (we don’t have a washing machine/tumble dryer at home because our kitchens too small). I am the words best mum today though according to DD because we had McDonald’s for tea😂.
sing trees are stupidly expensive aren’t they😱. Sometimes I do my imaginary lottery winner shopping at balsam hill. If I ever one the lottery I’d have one in every room😍. I’m so glad you’re feeling so positive about the event you went to❤️ and as DD1’s hand is okau😊
red I completely get your frustration with ‘Christmas is almost sorted’. I’ve got a list of presents and food is ordered but DH somehow thinks that’s us sorted now🙄.
wooly the tree has definitely brightened up our mornings🎄. Makes it easier getting up!. I’m keeping my fingers crossed 🤞🏻 that baby comes as close to their due date as possible I’m not sure I’d cope going 10 days overdue😂. DD and DS were all born before their due date though so I doubt I will go over. Your DS sounds so sweet getting you some flowers to say thank you🥰
hazel I’ve been doing yoga since I met DH and am still waiting for him to join in with me!. I’m glad you and your DH seem to be enjoying it!🧘🏻‍♀️
zoo aww I’m sending lots of kitty cuddles❤️.
Welcome vanilla! Sorry about your back!!
up I didn’t know you were expecting as well, congratulations! When are you due?
mc sorry about your DH being so annoying!
ta da
Kept 2 little people alive
Had a meeting with some local mums about possibly starting up a forest/beach school group for the little ones
Baby name shortlist Made!!!!!
Laundry done
Gave up😂

Mc3209 · 18/11/2021 20:25

Bramble when is the little one due? Well done on sorting the name shortlist!

It has been 'everyone fed and no one dead (and on time for bed)' kinda day here. Tomorrow should be more under control.

StillUp · 19/11/2021 05:56

Well done That!

Ah DS2 sounds a sweetheart Willow. Apart from
the whole having to be rescued in the first place thing Grin

I saw that thread Merry. I also thought it didn’t seem to be a large number of people to buy for, but then I come from a big family and buy for more than that after reducing right down. It did seem mad to be spending so much when it was being added to existing debt though.

Hope the back is improving Vanilla.

Bramble I’m due in the new year but it’s looking highly likely to be early for various reasons. Really must pack a hospital bag and retrieve baby things from the loft Blush

On time for bed as well as all fed and no one dead is a remarkable achievement for your first week back Mc! Do you do mon-fri?

Chez Up seems to be ticking over, though I have to admit DH has been keeping on top of the flying more than me the last few days. I’ll morph into a domestic goddess once work is done I’m sure.

HillsBesideTheSea · 19/11/2021 07:07

There is something discombobulating in trying to turn off your alarm and accidentally sticking your hand in pie. Hmm

Agree with UP - everyone fed no one dead, and in bed on time is a pretty major achievement MC

That well done on the essay.

Hope your back is better this morning Vanilla

Are you ok honey?

well i started this post over and hour ago, so i should probably actually hit post and get moving properly.

SingToTheSky · 19/11/2021 07:56

:o at pie alarm hills

I never even did my other work or looked at the to do list yesterday. Panel was absolutely exhausting (how is staring at a screen so tiring?!) but I did participate more this time so that’s good. Then I had to walk to DD1’s school to meet her form tutor (also met her HOY in person for the first time which was lovely, we’ve had lots of phone chats since covid!). Good meeting but so tired now, I was actually asleep by about 11 😱

Anyway today is going to be tricky again childcare wise. But also have lots to do in the house - it’s getting pretty bad TBH.

po3.1
❗️Meds, dressed, breakfast
❗️LOL
❗️Half hour work

TheHoneyBadger · 19/11/2021 08:12

Thanks. Just tired.

Dw and lols and getting rubbish and recycling out is about my limit currently along with fed and not dead and haven’t been sacked for badger house. That’ll have to do for now.

Hope everyone is ok. Sorry but not managing to keep up with thread currently

IWillWearThatGlitteryWoolly · 19/11/2021 08:45

Honey all of those things are the basics and if you can manage them that's great. You and DS are clean, fed, housed, safe, with clean washing and rubbish out of the house and you are gainfully employed so can continue thusly. You're doing brilliantly at a trying time. Sending 💐 and 💪.

Bramble I never reached my due date with any of mine, either.

Up hope your last day at work goes smoothly and the relief of finishing doesn't send you into labour (bitter experience there. DS1 owes me 5 weeks nesting on the sofa!).

Hills um... where were you sleeping if you put your hand in a pie? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Conking out at the kitchen table will hurt your back! 😁.

Has anyone seen Dancing? It occurs to me she's not been on for a while. Hope she's ok.

That well done on your essay!

Is Friday. Much to do. 🍒👋 to everyone.

SingToTheSky · 19/11/2021 09:23

Oh yes I meant to say that excellent work getting your essay done!

I don’t know what it says about me woolly but my first thought wasn’t “hills slept in the kitchen” but “hills ate some pie while sitting in bed”

po3.2.
❗️Prep for maths lesson
❗️Write to do list for the rest of the day
❗️Change top and tidy self/background for 1to1 with the boss at 10

HillsBesideTheSea · 19/11/2021 10:08
Grin

We had pie for supper, which i took with me upstairs to enjoy whilst reading a book. couldn't eat all of it and thought it would work for breakfast couldn't be arsed to move so put it on the bedside unit. Where i would normally put the phone.

On a plus note it did work to get me up.

Honey this time of year is exhausting. everyone fed and absolute basics is more than perfect. Look after yourself. the house will always need cleaning, but there is only one you.

ta da
3rd load of washing for the day is in the machine
potatoes blanched and in the dehydrator
pots were washed up
started sorting stuff for the tip run later
15mins of paperwork filing

just taking a break with a coffee

TheHoneyBadger · 19/11/2021 10:38

Thank you lovely people. Off to work very glad it's Friday.

SingToTheSky · 19/11/2021 11:19

Hope work goes ok honey

Meeting with the boss was great. Maths now and then I need to get on with writing the to do list, before actually doing anything from it…

HillsBesideTheSea · 19/11/2021 12:14

I realised i should have mentioned it was pumpkin pie.

ta da

nothing
Actually put towels away in the cupboard where they live but there has been junk for waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long.

not sure you can even see where i have been atm, but it will get there.

OP posts:
SingToTheSky · 19/11/2021 15:42

Seems I lost my post earlier. Ah well it was just another power of three which I’ve now done (lunch, LOL, paying invoice/emailing tutor) so I guess I just add my next one now 🤣

po3.4
❗️Room rescue bathroom
❗️Check upcoming dates for meetings and if free 🤞 book a home ed trip!
❗️Ring dr about an appt they’ve asked me to make

Mc3209 · 19/11/2021 20:14

Friday! It's Friday! Survived!
Up yes, Mon to Fri plus out of hours on call. Haven't done any out of hours this week though, which was nice.
Congratulations on starting your mat leave! 🥳
Hills pumpkin pie.. drool 🤤
That well done on conquering the essay!

Ta da:
🎉Folded clean laundry
🎉Quick kitchen tidy up

House is a bit of a mess, but not too bad all considered.

HillsBesideTheSea · 19/11/2021 20:57

Well done MC

Hope you get change for a recoup this weekend Honey

Does anyone else have people that put empty squash bottles back where they live because they cba to wash them up and grab a new bottle on the shelf; in the hope that no one is going to notice?

OP posts:
Redsquirrel5 · 20/11/2021 01:02

No I don’t hills glad you told us.
I was thinking ‘What sort of pie?’
Never had pumpkin pie.
Donkey. No not real. Hoping, with some help, to make a Nativity.

People fall off the thread all the time bramble don’t worry. Sometimes we just jump back on where we are as some days there is soooooo much chatter.

I’m tired so just quick up date. Had a busy and productive two days. Baked gingerbread for neighbours.
Cleaned kitchen.
Did a pile of ironing, since found another shirt. Damn!
Made a plan.

ExcessiveIyDisorganised · 20/11/2021 23:44

I have been reading but not posting. Welcome to the new Fledglings, always room for a few more on this thread.

Glad the first week back went OK Mc - I went back full time but didn't have a nursery place for Fridays so work let me take my accrued annual leave on Fridays for a couple of months which did help me ease back in.

Zoo - cat snuggles sound nice, glad Nelly's getting used to meds.

Sorry, falling asleep, busy day. Met some friends for a wander round a Christmas market and a bite to eat which was nice.

Redsquirrel5 · 21/11/2021 00:23

ED also falling asleep.
The Everhot has been working hard this week. Baked a gingerbread and a fruit cake, a orange and Polenta and today a blueberry and lemon.

That🏅fantastic effort.

Tea was new potatoes (cold) in oil and chilli crisp up, bowl of roast veg in garlic and rosemary (mushrooms, courgette, red pepper,) carrots, cabbage lilac coloured and salmon. B.

Co op salmon is particularly good at the moment.

Vacuumed. Sorted some stuff. Been busy all day.
Just fell asleep and dropped my iPad. Going to put it away and go to sleep.

🍒🍁🍒👋🍒👋🍒👋🍒🍁🍒 to everyone

SingToTheSky · 21/11/2021 00:30

ta da
🎡last night’s LOL in dryer
🎡towel LOL and dried
🎡non tumble dry LOL and hung out
🎡put clean laundry away
🎡made and sent maths homework to pupil
🎡delegated a few chores to Caglets
🎡room rescue bedroom
🎡loaded DW
🎡wiped kitchen counters
🎡sorted meds for the next two weeks

Actually had a decent day productivity wise. I think some time on my own helped (DH took Cagletini to dance as working nearby). Feel a bit wired now though hence the late night burst of productivity 🧐 must resist the temptation to get more done I think as I really need tomorrow to be restful for the busy week ahead.

Night all
