Welcome fledglings to May’s Flylady thread – many, many thanks to ED for her expert guidance through April 2021.

All are welcome and especially Newbies. Don’t be shy in making yourselves known because we are a friendly bunch.
We follow Flylady’s system for house and sanity maintenance which is based around 5 room zones spread over the month. There is a weekly quick home clean in the midst of more thorough zone cleaning. I am an aging fledgling who really should be more proactive about following the plan but to be frank I enjoy the natter and good company more than I enjoy cleaning. Every day I will be checking in and giving the ‘flight plan’ for the day with links to the Flylady site. You can join Flylady on her site for email updates but she does like to send a lot out, just so you know!
The most importantist thing to know is that you are NEVER behind – just do what you can when you can. Many of us post ta da lists as we cross items off our [never-ending] to do lists.
You may find the following acronyms along the way (adapted below from ED’s useful list from April)
LOL = load of laundry
S&S = swish and swipe, a quick daily clean of the toilet and sink
PO3 = power of 3. When motivation is on the low side or you’re overwhelmed just pick 3 things at a time and do them
DNLMS = did not lose my shit
Ned = our mythical mate who helps with the laundry
Pointy stick —-> = for when a fledgling needs a motivational prod
The naughty corner = a relaxing haven where we hang out when motivation is low or when life becomes overwhelming. Usually enticing food is left there with squishy cushions.
KCC – (Keep calm corner) these are little stories, photos, memes, off-topic questions, just to keep us all distracted from the general tedium of lockdown life. Feel free to chip in.

dancing you are way stronger than you realise even without a book❤️
Hope 6am I surrendered as I was concerned the Yowling nelly plus scoutcat outside adding his unique brand of "harmony" at top of his voice may alert the RSPCA of travesty against felines

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/05/2021 09:09

hills I'd say it's a variation of messy mum bun and most acceptableWink

Best go gather DD 2 and head shops as Friday and pleasant out bound to be busy....

SingToTheSky · 07/05/2021 09:42

Oh god if I start work or other volunteering I’ll have to make myself presentable won’t I. That reminds me I need to look at some new clothes, I saw some nice tops in Next the other day. Bright prints that might give me an air of confidence 😂🙈

I feel like I’ve had a stay of execution - absolutely wrecked this morning (in a pain sense not a hangover sense 🤣 chance would be a fine thing!) but DH was told not to head to the count for another couple of hours so he’s still here for a bit longer. DS has helped Cagletini build her first Lego set so they’re now playing with that, school can wait!

SingToTheSky · 07/05/2021 09:45

I have the Michelle Obama book on audible I think, or maybe it’s just on my wish list to use a credit on.

Dancing I absolutely recommend the Resilient book by Rick Hanson if you’d like to read more about that sort of thing, it was Hope who told us about it and I am enjoying it so far. Also any mental health stuff I am always happy to discuss whether here or by PM. It is something of a special interest of mine :o

Just arranging a meet up with the others from training. I’m so excited (a bit nervous about meeting new people although I already knew one from playgroup which was a happy coincidence).

cloud- weldone for sorting out so many clothes and drawers!

I actually dont know where to start.

🍒👋everyone.

I have just tried eating a ryvita with peanut butter - 🏜- its abit dry- 😬

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/05/2021 13:15

dancing add grated carrot or some cucumber slices?(recommended to stop the claggy mouth in a nut butter sandwich to me when dd1 was little)
I think I have resilient somewhere must dig it out and read it

Dd2 was freaking still at 10 so took D's.it was predictably quite busy(forecast today only break in the rain, plus a Friday which generally a busy shop day)
DS useless at bag carryingbut did do the bank card so I wasn't all fumbling at till.cpuldnt get everything as couldn't carry it..
Wipe shop
Put away
Head co op(20 mins walk over the reserve) with dd2.couldnt get everything, but most of its sorted.glad I got her outside for a bit too.she carried potatoes, carrots etc home which helps me too!
Wipe and put away
Make lunch for lil zoo and D's
About have mine(lambs lettuce, last part bake baguettes I cooked yesterday, tuna and red pepper hummus that needs using up.i also earmarked a bag plain baked crisps!)

To do
Everything I haven't had chance to do yet
Chances anything else get done quite low tho as this is a particularly bad period and the floodings making me tired/moving around a lot unpleasant..

halfhope · 07/05/2021 15:31

I'd take it easy then zoo - a bad period justifies this.

⛏ well I couldn’t find a spade emoji so here is a pick axe 🤷‍♀️

upincloud9 · 08/05/2021 00:47

Where has the day gone omg it feels like it’s gone so fast. We went to playgroup this morning it’s so good now they’re open again but my girl is still a bit scared of other people because she’s been in lockdown most her life haha. I ordered some wall stickers for the kids room and they came today so I put them up earlier they aren’t perfect but I like adding little bits and bobs to our home. The neighbours below seem to be having some sort of race I can’t hear the music but can hear the bass on their speakers it’s woke Emmi up I hate living in a tower block sometimes🙄.

Haha I’m glad you’re all okay with lots of baby photos it’ll give my family and friends a break from it🤣

mc I’ve got some really supportive family and friends so they’ll help out and a few friends with little ones have already planned some play dates with me to get me out of the house so hopefully that makes things a lil easier🤞🏻

hazel thank you for welcoming me🥰 I’ve had a look at the daily focus and I think like you I’ll have to alter some to fit my family but it seems to be working so far 😁

zoo I’m the same I get so broody whenever I see babies haha💖 I’ve got some great family and friends who will be helping out and I think my DM and Nan who are in my bubble will be staying over for the first few weeks to help out☺️ I hope your DD is okay

sing it scares me that if I start work again I’ll have to actually wear clothes🤣 I don’t think I’ve wore jeans for over a year😳

dancing thank you I was quite proud of myself getting so much done it’s been bugging me for a while I feel much more prepared now☺️

that I’m happy to lend you a spade if you need it🤣

I shined my sink for the first time tonight and I’m really excited for a clean sink in the morning. I didn’t need to do the mission and the only other thing I did was put some wall stickers in the kids room😌

Love the stickers cloud ♥️

halfhope · 08/05/2021 00:56

Shining your sink is just perfect progress cloud

OP posts:
HazelNuttyElf · 08/05/2021 06:10

That's a great start cloud I love the stickers too 🥰

that I think I've already packed up my Shovel, but I can dig it out of the storage unit if you still need it see what I did there? 😅😜
I hope you're feeling better. My doctor had prescribed me ibuprofen when my periods were really heavy, might be worth a look. It worked for me and helped them not be so heavy.

We got a lot more things packed up tonight. DC had got some boxes packed. DD didn't tape up the boxes so I could look in them and label them. Glasses, mugs, spices are all packed up. There's still more, but I can see the finish line. Lots of big stuff was also taken out to the storage units, we have lots of help tomorrow so we should be good to go. Hopefully Sunday I'll be able to focus on cleaning especially as that's the last full day in the house
My back is hurting 😫 and I'm ready for bed (just after 11pm here) I've been up since 5:40am, worked all day, packed tonight and we have a fairly early morning tomorrow, picking up the uhaul trailer.
🍒👋 to everyone, hopefully I'll have some time to check in over the next few days.

HazelNuttyElf · 08/05/2021 06:11

The period message was for zoo apparently I forgot to put your name 🤦‍♀️ it's been a long week!

SingToTheSky · 08/05/2021 08:32

Morning Fledglings.

Aah hazel not long now!

yes ta da
🦥phoned nursery - she’s got a very snotty nose anyway so didn’t feel too guilty that she couldn’t go!

🦥got DS to do maths

🦥got DS to do his laundry
🦥loaded and ran DW
🦥got DS to finish a poster

🦥got DS out the door for scouts
🦥reminded DD1 to bring the bin back in
🦥emptied, refilled and ran DW

StillUpholding · 08/05/2021 10:06

Happy Saturday everyone.

Ta Das:
Nope.

To do:
All the things.

House is a shit tip. Washing basket is overflowing. I am under both a blanket and a cat (see attached). Power of 3 sort of day I think. Anyone got the pointy stick or did someone insert it into That’s UFM?

Fledglings May 2021 thread: MAYbe we’ll keep our routines going as the outside world opens up 😊
SingToTheSky · 08/05/2021 10:20

Beautiful cat up 😍

HillsBesideTheSea · 08/05/2021 10:49

I thought the pointy stick got used to help build someone a tent for their kids during lockdown? I do like the idea of it having to become a flag pole.

Good morning.
survived yesterday.
had a lie in

To do: hmmm
ta da: eaten chocolate muffin for breakfast.

hit and run today. Sorry.

Good luck for the rest of the move hazel
welcome to the new comers.

StillUpholding · 08/05/2021 10:59

Thanks Sing. I’d just like to point out that she does actually have two ears Grin.

Excellent ta da list so far Hills Grin

I moved:
💥 first of many LOLs in
💥 DW emptied, reloaded and on
💥 some dishes hand washed
💥 benches cleared of crap and wiped
💥 cutlery tray wiped out
💥 DD dressed (with much discussion and debate about every item of clothing Hmm)
💥 living room straightened up

Downstairs now feels more under control. Upstairs needs work but I seem to be back under a cat...

SingToTheSky · 08/05/2021 10:59

‘Tis a versatile stick indeed!

I haven’t done anything myself today yet. Yesterday really took it out of me TBH - very long day with DH out at the vote count and side effects from meds 🙄

I have very little planned for the weekend other than finishing my assignment, and I need to sort through some handmedowns from a friend. Probably won’t keep them all as we don’t need a lot but nursery will make use of what we don’t keep!

SingToTheSky · 08/05/2021 11:01

I want to be under a cat. Why does DH not like cats. 😡

My friend just got two kittens and I’m enjoying the photos but oh man I’m jealous. Especially of the purring in the videos 🥺😍

StillUpholding · 08/05/2021 11:04

Your assignment and sorting clothes sound like perfectly reasonable aims for a weekend. Take it easy. Would he notice a teeny weeny little kitten? Wink
