Fledglings Continue Carolling - December thread 2: the one with Christmas Eve Eve and beyond!

Hello all, here’s an overflow thread as we’ve all been a right bunch of chatterboxes. I’d love to pretend that’s because we’ve all been doing even more housework, but, well... no. I think it’s probably because we’ve all found support with each other - I’m taking this opportunity to thank you all for a lovely December, it’s got me through a lot of stress and boredom and loneliness during isolation especially! 💖

Any newbies or lurkers - do join in! We are a long running thread with lots of regulars and we might seem cliquey but we honestly love having new Fledglings join us. I’m posting FlyLady links for a couple more days and then we will be back to Proper Flying Resolutions in January!

Lost my post Angry

Excellent suggestion re new years resolutions hills I think I will do similar.

And thanks all re building works sympathy! I think the fact that there's no going back now has left me a little overwhelmed. Dh has stopped for the day now and tidied the kitchen a bit but I've shut the door and tidied the living room and lit candles so feeling much better.

Also decluttered dd underwear and pyjamas drawers so also feeling a little more productive.

Hiya all! Happy New Year’s Eve. It’s a cold one today, we went for a walk and it was bloody freezing!. I’ve decided to get dressed up for the first time in ages, we are going to mums for new year as she’s in our support bubble. We’ll have a little party for the kids so I thought I’d treat it like one, I’ll get some make up on, I’ve even done a face mask!. The kids are wearing their smart clothes too, it’s quite exciting. We’re in tier 4 now, the DC’s school is opening on the 5th to give them some time to make sure everything is safe.

First of all before I catch up with you all, a MASSIVE congratulations Sherin, what a gorgeous little boy you have!. Beautiful name too. I hope you enjoy the next few weeks of newborn cuddles!

sing he’s a massive dick! He hasn’t seen the DC since April, and my youngest was born in August🙄. We’re well rid of him. The crab dream sounds horrible too! I hate recurring dreams. I’ve never tried it in chocolate milkshake, I may have too. DD likes cucumber dipped in red sauce as a snack😂. Very well planned getting all your shopping done. It definitely is a weird end to the year. I hope the boiler is finally sorted, how annoying.

I’m sorry about the furlough hills, it’s such a difficult time.

Great list zoo, I think it’s ridiculous that schools are still open, even though I don’t know how I’d manage home schooling. The cases are awful at the minute, I don’t see why schools are safe to be opened now but weren’t when the cases were this bad in May. But then again I’m not a scientist!. Sorry about the achy body.

Great news about the prescription bower, possums don’t scare me too much but opossums really do, it’s not very rational. I hope your boys aren’t to stressed about not working.

up I completely understand how you feel about tier 4. But it sounds like you’re being quite positive about it. I love getting delivery’s!. I hope you’re enjoying the film.

Brilliant list dancing! How lovely that your little ones enjoyed snakes and ladders with you.

It’s understandable you both still feel that way that💐

I’m sorry about DD’s school foxes, it so difficult isn’t it?. Sorry you’re feeling so irritable. Lots of sympathy for the building work!.

wooly I’m trying not to think about brexit, or anything really😂. What a crazy year this has been. It sounds so frustrating for your DS.

ED I hope you find out soon about your DC going to school. I hope you’ve enjoyed your lady week.

Yesterday I managed to sort out all of the living room drawers and baskets. Also binned the rubbish in my room, slowly getting there!.

We are all ready now, we’re off to mums for the night, the DC are really excited as they love her dog and they haven’t had a sleepover in ages. I’m excited that someone else can occupy the DC and I can enjoy a glass of gin😂

SingToTheSky · 31/12/2020 17:38

Aw strawberry the party sounds wonderful ❤️ Enjoy!

Cagletini asked to dress up as superheroes so she is going in her spidey suit (DS chose her it for Xmas) and DH is going to wear the costume he bought for a charity walk he did with work a few months ago.

Hence, at midnight I will be kissing bananaman.

Strawberry enjoy night at mums
Foxes must've missed /forgotten some of the building posts.how long is your kitchen going to be like this?(would take me OVER THE EDGE .how hills copes with it without blood shed I fear maybe some kind of voodoo magic involved?!)

Well after huge row dd2 who was yelling at me for daring ask her hold bits of oven door whilst attempted a proper look, thus dragging her away laying in bed watching CSI. I LMS and told her to go away and let me be.ive had enough of her today moaning at me.she wants washing done, yet moans at having round it up and bring down/be summoned to collect and put away
Teens with MH are so bloody much hardworkSad

Anyhoo upshot us think going to need new hinge, and new outer door as minimum.at least £100+.

One bloody thing after another!Sad

Right,enough my whiney arsing

Time to accept I cannot cook what zoolets love to eat and I shall be living in semi warzone for foreseeable

Lil zoo wants show me Dr who edit she's done, then think I may chill for a bit

Decision made dd2 can have critical levels socks and pants, and white ain't getting done either.when load that's in machine goes into drier I quit for the dayshe runs out clean drawers it's not my monkey, not my circus....

HillsBesideTheSea · 31/12/2020 17:55

Zoo Grin Grin

HillsBesideTheSea · 31/12/2020 17:57

Although that was directed at the voodoo magic. Sorry about the cooker and all the drama. Hope you can relax a bit later.

foxessocks · 31/12/2020 18:30

Oh no sorry zoo that's not what you need ☹️

I'm not sure on timescale really, a loooooooong time 😫 because it's structural work too and dh is doing it on his own for various reasons mostly cost related! We are lucky that he can do it, he is an engineer so he knows what he's doing but obviously he also has a full time job!

Bowerbird5 · 31/12/2020 19:04

Congratulations Sherin what a lovely baby. I have a great nephew called Reuben. I haven’t seen him since he was about three. My DD was 8lb 1oz.

Zoo how old is she now?

Sing whatever floats your boat...re bananaman!

Foxes just keep saying “ It will be worth it.” I still remember the mess mine was finished ( well kitchen cupboards) on 23rd Dec 2018.

Strawberry enjoy your evening with your mum. How can he not see your youngest?Definitely a dick. My brother in law didn’t see his children for two years then he died. He promised me he would see them. My sister and children were abroad and no one told anyone in the family he was in hospital. I would have gone and sat with him. So sad he was lovely when he was sober.

Right must go and make something to eat. I really can’t be bothered.

Bowerbird5 · 31/12/2020 20:23

DH had cut up all the veg for pasta sauce that is a first.

Dancingtomusic · 31/12/2020 21:56

Just popped on and seen...

Sherin congratulations on the birth of your beautiful baby boy! Lovely name too! Reubens are lovely. Really happy for you. Make sure you rest and dont do too much. Enjoy all the new baby cuddles!

SingToTheSky · 31/12/2020 23:32

It’s been a crap evening here, one to sum up 2020 tbh. For starters I had an epic headache again and then the roulade I was excited to have for dessert is crap. 🤬😳 Got annoyed with DH due to a misunderstanding 🤦🏽‍♀️ (although he did jump to conclusions too and has apologised also for being impulsive and moving furniture etc 🙄) so things were a bit tense for a while. But I was easily upset anyway as I had read some shit news about children and family centres probably closing, which would mean the weekly playgroup never starts up again. I know I’ve mentioned it before, it was an important part of our week not just for Cagletini but for me, it was SN friendly, run by my support worker (who had to discharge us between lockdowns). It was the one thing I’ve been really holding out for TBH, I knew it wouldn’t be on again for ages (I’m still in touch with the woman who ran the parenting course I did there and they stated WFH till March ages back) but I knew one day it would be and it would be like a marker that things are ok again. So I’m gutted. :(

On a much much lighter note, here’s proof I am in fact married to Bananaman. He’s changed back now though which I’m a tad relieved about. :o

Missed a bit 🤦🏽‍♀️ re playgroup being SN friendly, that’s important to me as an autistic mum, I don’t feel like I fit in most places IRL, but I felt really understood there, and welcome. Even if other playgroups start up again, I can’t handle them.

The decision isn’t being made yet so will be keeping everything crossed, but this particular centre is on the cut list so it’s very much in jeopardy. 😣

OP posts:
ExpensivelyDecorated · 31/12/2020 23:48

I'm sorry to hear that Sing. What I would say is that IME mums (and some dads) from families with SNs do tend to gravitate together and not go down without a fight when something like this happens, hopefully there will be re-grouping and other ways will be found for the groups to meet.

Dancingtomusic · 01/01/2021 11:46

Hi Sing i am so sorry to hear about your childrens centre possibly closing.
I understand that feeling as I recieved alot of help and support from the wonderful ladies who worked at my local surestart centre (children, young people and families centres.) As a mum without family support, I dont know how I would have managed as I have realised I struggle to fit into groups (that was very difficult to write as I am a chatty, friendly person, but I am too open hearted and have to tell myself to step back abit.) Nearly deleted this...
So the 3 or 4 surestart centres I visited was reduced to 1 which was too far away. It did affect me mentally as I didnt have friends to chat to or family. Its been 2 years since that has happened and now my fraggles are both at primary school its abit better. Talking to people on this thread has been lovely. Thank you.

Mainly, Sing I feel your pain.

Right, off to find the new page, as posted on here as I wanted to add my support to you sing.
🍒🖐 everyone

Dancingtomusic · 01/01/2021 11:46

P.s the costumes are great!

Tinselette · 01/01/2021 12:39

Sorry to hear about the playgroup sing. What superhero are you? I think you could be Wonder Woman. The golden lasso thing would be useful.

SingToTheSky · 01/01/2021 12:39

@Dancingtomusic thank you 🥰 was about to write a post on the new thread so I will reply properly on there! 💐

You've certainly been winderwoman with this thread. Thank you 🎉💐😌

SingToTheSky · 01/01/2021 12:40

Tinselette I went in my best costume.

My alter ego: PyjamaWoman!

OP posts:
Tinselette · 01/01/2021 12:40

Bloody hell winderwoman??!!! Wonder Woman, obviously (sighs)

Tinselette · 01/01/2021 12:42

🤣 pyjama woman - fuelled by coffee ( in my case) with her dress gown cape

SingToTheSky · 01/01/2021 12:43

:o tinselette :o

TBF pyjamawoman isn’t even an alter ego anymore. I’ve been pretty much fully embracing my superhero identity for a few weeks :o
