Fledglings Continue Carolling - December thread 2: the one with Christmas Eve Eve and beyond!

SingToTheSky · 23/12/2020 11:54

Hello all, here’s an overflow thread as we’ve all been a right bunch of chatterboxes. I’d love to pretend that’s because we’ve all been doing even more housework, but, well... no. I think it’s probably because we’ve all found support with each other - I’m taking this opportunity to thank you all for a lovely December, it’s got me through a lot of stress and boredom and loneliness during isolation especially! 💖

Any newbies or lurkers - do join in! We are a long running thread with lots of regulars and we might seem cliquey but we honestly love having new Fledglings join us. I’m posting FlyLady links for a couple more days and then we will be back to Proper Flying Resolutions in January!

Flowers Zoo

Bowerbird5 · 29/12/2020 22:51

Whoo Zoo when is Christmas. You could have Christmas at New Year and New Year celebrate with Shetland Up Helly Ya!

Bowerbird5 · 29/12/2020 23:08

Great news Sing you seem to be managing well with both family and studying and I know it isn’t easy. At the moment I don’t want to study anything more or have any more exams. I used to love learning but I feel I have had enough. I struggled to find time for my City and Guilds and didn’t finish the last year.

StrawberryFries · 30/12/2020 00:04

Hiya everyone, super late check in tonight. It snowed again here, pic attached of the park by mums this morning. They loved being able to sledge down the hill. I also went to get the kids’ school stuff, I got a few other bits and bobs like some new pyjamas for them. It cost a fortune, but that should tide us over for a while now. I can’t believe they’re back at school on Tuesday, it feels like the Christmas holidays have gone so quick.

The cake looks amazing sing. Great going with your assignment!

mc the kids go back to school on the 5th, so I’ll probably get the tree down on the 3rd :(. I’ll still be feeling festive though!.

foxes I like to do things gradually with decorations too, I always feel that everything is really bare without the decorations. Glad the coffee machine is working fine again!. It’s understandable that you’re a bit aggy about the building work!.

I’m sorry you’re feeling wobbly ED, it’s completely understandable given everything that’s going on.

Glad you had a lovely walk hills, hope the bath eased your muscles.

You’ve done loads today bower, that’s really annoying about the litter!. I can’t understand why people litter, I get that sometimes something may fall out of your pocket and you don’t notice it but there’s a lot of litter by my house and you can tell it’s just lazy people.

Brilliant news about the negative test zoo!

Not done any flying today just the general household stuff, cooking, washing up etc. I did mop the entrance way because of snowy footprints.

I can hear one of the DC stirring, my littlest is still in my bedroom with me, but the other 2 share a room and generally if 1 wakes up the other one does and then come into my room and wake my littlest up😩. I’m praying they aren’t going to wake up!

Bowerbird5 · 30/12/2020 00:46

🤞🏻They don’t then Strawberry lovely photo thank you.
Litter-I don’t understand it either. I was taught to keep my rubbish until I found a bin or took it home. I taught my kids the same but wonder if they still think like that so mentioned about what we collected last time to DS2 and immediately he said, “Why don’t people take it home?”
It is the same in the Lake District. People come to admire the view but leave their rubbish. DH is on a Facebook page with Lakes walking and weather reports and sometimes they post on there how many bags of rubbish they have collected. You’d be surprised at some of the things people leave. When the first lockdown was on it was horrendous, there were hoards of people going to the Lakes. There was a spike near Windermere from people coming to their second homes but not staying in and not keep the 2metres. It caused a real problem for the local hospital.

Burr cold tonight. I went to the chemist earlier and my prescription hadn’t been sent. I haven’t had my BP tablets for four days. Tomorrow’s forecast is lots of snow here.

SingToTheSky · 30/12/2020 01:25

Gorgeous snow pic! Forgot to say I love the new name strawberry (but are they fries that taste OF strawberry, or MADE of strawberry?)

Thanks for the well dones re assignment, it’s given me a massive boost but also I’m very aware I’m only managing this because of having DH home too (for newbies he had to stop work last year, he has osteoporosis and various back related stuffs). It is good I can make use of the time now but it doesn’t half scare me wondering how it’ll all work when I do take on more studying, volunteering (the kind of careers I want will likely need more experience/placements etc) and eventually a job that takes me out of the house Confused

But then we did have that conversation the other day about how we will manage if we both study (mine will be more important in terms of qualifications 😬 but he definitely needs something, MH wise, as he can barely walk some days when he used to run daily) but in a way I feel like we actually need more structure in order to get shit done. I can’t describe how much time we both spend feeling totally dazed 😳 but sometimes having deadlines and supervision by other people (eg tutors/lecturers) helps a lot so it might actually make things better. Like that phrase “if you need something done ask a busy person”? Maybe that needs to apply to us. But I’m very wary of taking on too much when life is crazy already. Gaaaaaah.

Sorry, waffling. Should really sleep! But I couldn’t so I finished another book and have done another bit of the futurelearn course which totally blew my mind with a maths thing I never learned in school/college/OU 😱 oh and I did come up with another way to reduce the planning needed for DS next term so that’s made my life a bit easier too 😂

🍒👋

I've typed out a long post and then lost it.. argh! Ok, here is the condensed version:

Zoo so glad to see you back! Such a relief with negative tests for your little ones 😍 I hope you are sleeping soundly tonight.
Sing things have a way of working out for the best (once you have a big scheme game plan in place). I'd say cross that bridge when you get to it.
Bower I am sad to read about all the rubbish you had to collect. I never understood why some folk have to 'shit where they walk', to paraphrase.
Strawberry beautiful snowy photo. I hope your babies stayed asleep and didn't cause mayhem 😊

No significant flying done yesterday. My excuse is my sling was in a wash and I can't really get anything done without it as McTiny just wouldn't sleep for long enough during the day.

I did go for my usual walk, only it was very icy and I ended up slipping and landing on my bum 😂 My ego was bruised 😂

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/12/2020 05:04

Hello *strawberry"
Lovely pic

MC of course I'm not sleeping! Haha
I'm planning a staggered Xmas😍
Mad clear up(starting shortly),quick pop to shops, hot showers for alland then brekkie and ALL the gifts❤️(we did zoom opening dd1 gifts Xmas day, hoping zoom dad to watch gift opening as he's off today)
Think dd2 might then go for a walk with him before retreating to her bed for a day or so.shes had no alone time in 10days and super antsy!
Hoping veggie Xmas lunch, perhaps new year's Day?

So,to do
Shedloads laundry
Reclaim house
Fix oven door
As much s poss by 8 am

Bower the nature reserve near her gets dreadfully littered, not helped when a MC D opened in carpark if Morrison's.the local dog walkers are AMAZING often walking with BINBAGS.i dread to think what state it would be in without them(they also collect extra dog poo during summer months the fair weather brigade walkers don't bother after a stroll with their dogs)

Right,let the cleaning frenzy COMMENCE!!!!

HazelNuttyElf · 30/12/2020 06:40

Woohoo 🎉🎊 for negative results zoo and so glad to see you back on here. I hope you get to enjoy your Christmas.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 30/12/2020 07:17

Zoo that is bloody brilliant news! 🥳

We have had news of our own. I am not sure how brilliant it is. The timing is certainly not. But explains why i have been on my arse for weeks. Bit of a shock to the system as very unexpected, not told many people in RL but looks like our family will be expanding in 2021 Confused There is so much going on atm i have been struggling to process this.

Mc3209 · 30/12/2020 07:23

Oh I could murder a bacon sarnie right now! Mega list as always, Zoo!

Hazel hoping your work day goes fast. Your Christmas tree is down already! Very efficient ☺️

Mc3209 · 30/12/2020 07:27

Cross post! That congratulations, lovely! 😍😍🥰 ((((Hugs hugs hugs hugs))))

Mc3209 · 30/12/2020 07:30

That how did you find out? Apparently there is never a right time for a baby (or so I am told). Please ignore my ramblings if it's too much and you just want to process in peace ((((more hugs))))

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 30/12/2020 07:33

Well mc thats the interesting bit, i'm a bit unsure on dates .... but felt some flutters and then thought oh, hang on 😑

ExpensivelyDecorated · 30/12/2020 07:51

That No wonder you have been feeling so tired! That is quite a bit of news to process .

SingToTheSky · 30/12/2020 08:33

Oh wow that ❤️ What huge news 😱 congratulations, but if that feels like the wrong word right now that’s ok too 💐 I’m sorry it’s knocked you sideways x

I’ve had about four hours sleep as just when I was finally getting tired Cagletini woke up for ages Hmm but I’m going to stay up as maybe it’ll help me sleep at a more normal time tonight.

You are probably better than I woolly i did offer, but am marmite so probably better if You take the lead lovely. Besides the whole KCC/KKC thing completely baffles me.

Tried to be up and going but the muscles are calling me names. i am being torn between things i should do and things I want to do.

for that

I probably need a list and focus. Instead i have coffee.

Bowerbird5 · 30/12/2020 11:05

Oh That it does explain your tiredness. It will be a bit of a shock to you but time will make it ok. Yes, I think dropping one module at Uni is the way to go😀

Zoo sounds like a plan.😁

Hazel going to strip my bed today too. I meant to do it Monday can’t remember why I didn’t. Would like DH to help me turn the mattress.

MC I don’t think it is locals. We suspect it is thrown from cars passing through. Possibly cyclists too as lucozade ( I can remember a time when that was if you had d&v as a child) and spring water bottles. Some MC DS yet we live miles from one. Mostly sweet and crisps wrappers and the bottles. Thrown from a car as we have a wide verge on one side next to farm land. One of the farmers has cut it but drove over several bottles so will have to clear that up before any dogs, children or horses tread on it. We clear some but will take a spade for the rest. So pleased DH is onboard with this ‘activity’.
Zoo glad someone is picking it up.And in a nature reserve too! The mind boggles.

Right must go as going to get some shopping first time since23rd.Craving some fish. Then something for New Year.

Leaves🍓🍇🍊🍎🥝🍌🍩☕️ For all in the holiday corner.

Bowerbird5 · 30/12/2020 11:12

Woolly 🍒👋 washing up bowl per person half full. We managed for about 6 months. Oh and a sponge /flannel and a jug of water for rinsing. Hair done separately in any available sink (with jug).😄

SingToTheSky · 30/12/2020 11:14

Happy for anyone to take January, thank you both for the offer! 💐 KCC is totally optional hills since it started in lockdown 1, I just like finding memes 😳😂

Have done a bit of reading. Feeling totally unmotivated (totes unmotes for short).
