Just opening the new thread while I have a chance! All welcome here, join in with the housework chat, the keep calm corner and general ramblings about life in lockdown!
Any of us have been here a long time so we may seem cliquey but it’s never intentional - newbies and returners are always welcome.

That I wondered about doing that. Thought if no sign today I would. I cant believe someone would accept someone else’s shopping. Tesco phoned when they got to the village. Actually I can believe it as some people have behaved very badly. We have had a couple of people shouted at and told to go home because they shouldn’t be driving here to walk their dogs. Both times it was people from the village walking their dogs but because someone hadn’t seen them before they assumed they lived elsewhere. Some people! Someone will have counted it as a win - win.🤬

Tbh the person may have refused the shopping and they may have taken the shopping back to the store. Wonder if they had phone number for zoo? Maybe that was wrong too. Whenever i have sent my stuff to the wrong house they always phone me Blush

Hope so that I can’t imagine being heartless enough to accept a delivery I didn’t pay for!

Give thanks for that article I immediately downloaded the chemistry one :o DS loves the periodic table.

Still very sleepy and achy this morning Hmm but the caglets are gradually getting up earlier so even though we aren’t totally on track yet we are getting there.

DH has changed plans around so one of us can collect meds tomorrow instead and I don’t have to be in sole charge today so that’s good. And I can work as planned at 11.30 (no clue how long it’ll take). Definitely need another review of how well DD1’s work/catch up is going, and try and make sense of all the little bits and pieces of maths DS has/hasn’t done so I can collect a booklet together for next week and put some aside for actual teaching too (his weekly booklets are 10 sheets of stuff he has at least mostly already done, so as to get lots of practice - it’s one of the few things he can do fairly independently).

Going to get on the exercise bike for a bit while I do links and KCC!

Morning! Tis I, Willow, under my new name . Was feeling a bit exposed, and this name allows the DC to be Megiddettes and the dog to be MegaHound, which tickles me immoderately!

So, Ta Das:
💖 Shiny new username
🧡 1 hrs walk in the woods with MegaHound Grin
💛 S&S
💚 LOL
💙 DH and DS3 did the DW
💜 Coffee!
🖤 About to make a plan
💖 DD in school
🧡 DS2 woken for the first time

DS3 has his OT appointment today and I really really need to get to dyeing my hair. Bit of work. Humanities homework with DS3. Tea is takeaway (keeping local chef afloat financially). Other than that, I'm declaring it POETS day!

Hoping zoo and stressy and We3 are still afloat. 🍒🙋‍♀️ to Bower, Lane, KT, ED, foxes, Hazel, Chic, give, We3, That, SC, Fluffiest, Lisette, Cineraria.

🌺🌸🌼 tkcc 🌼🌸🌺

In today’s uploads we have:

  • a poultry related meme just for bower now that Gladys is settling :o
  • a really lame joke - they’re my weakness Hmm :o
  • a suggested schedule for lockdown

Today’s question is: If money for training, childcare etc were no object, what is your ideal job?

I’d love to be an occupational therapist for kids I think. Something to do with helping children who are autistic, have sensory difficulties etc. OR some kind of therapist for adults. Would love to be an author but I’m too nervous to write anything :o

JigoloHarMegiddo · 24/04/2020 10:07

Thanks, Lane. I think I'm already doing my ideal job, (the historical research bit, not the running a house of thousands bit) although I'd like an office manager (wife??!) to do the boring bits of admin, accounting, fetching coffee on demand etc! Grin.

giveme that's what I do. It is hard work. Quite easy to get into now much easier and quicker than when I did mine. I did two years full time 9am -4pm and we had different placements including Special School and Hospital and I also went to Social Services Day Nursery plus lots of others. I trained as an NNEB Dip and it means I can work in a variety of settings. The best course to do now is the Cache ones. They have different levels. I carried on learning so I have Specialist TA, Learning Mentor, HLTA and Nurture Practitioner plus lots of little ones like Makaton signing although I am a bit rusty now. So you can ask me anything you like about it.

Lane Tell your DS it is a very useful tool. It often comes into quiz questions and I almost always know it. I keep meaning to brush up on a few. So if he learns it he may find he is still using it in his 60's that might blow him away ...thinking old people know itGrin
Oh and thank you for the chicken Meme DH and I were laughing at her heralding the arrival of another egg! She is really loud for a small bird.

Can we still call you Willow or which bit would you like it shortened to?

I haven't got many Ta Das today as I had a call to wait for from Occ Health. She thinks i should be shielding.
So I have just fed cat and we went outside to sit in the sun. I took my breakfast with me. It was red hot at 9am (well for here)

I have just been gardening and I sent an email to the chemist as I didn"t receive part of the prescription. I tried phoning twice but they had taken the phone off I think.

I need to think of something for DHs lunch as he is busy sawing wood including one of our kids beds. I am quietly seething. I said before someone could have it as it just needed a couple of slats. A rather large lad sat on it and it collapsed. He broke a few things here. I would hope my children would tell me if the broke something at another home.No one ever did and we paid for quite a few things including a window (Vicar's son though a friend in the village fixed that for free and i was more worried about his hand), panes in the back door twice same teenager girl, the bed, a new book and several toys. Our kids were careful and I don't think they ever broke anything bar a TNTurtles hand from fighting off a baddie.
Right i need to sweep and wash the kitchen floor. Car I did the front seats yesterday so will do the back ones. Not the boot, oh no!
Handbag yes I have one to do. I will take it outside. Otherwise it is gardening, oh I did S&S.

Enjoy the weather.

JigoloHarMegiddo · 24/04/2020 13:09

By all means still call me Willow, Bower. Or Jig is probably good. Half the fun is seeing what other people see in a username anyway!

Sorry about the bed. I broke one of the slats on DS1's bed kneeling on them to fish something out from down the far side. He's managing as is at present!

💜 1.5hrs or so of ACTUAL PAID WORK yaaaaaay!!! I am very happy :)

OP posts:
Bowerbird5 · 24/04/2020 15:56

giveme he knew I had said to give the bed away because somebody might be in desperate need of one and it wouldn't have cost much to make the slats or it if they were little you could have put them up one end. He can be like that though.I was one of four whereas he was an only child with a father in a good job.
I did love it until the last couple of years. They have taken its toll on me. I now have anxiety!
The easiest job and often the most rewarding was working 1:1. It could be hard if you didn't get support or the teacher thought you were their 1:1 ! I was say give your youngest time to settle in I had a year and then do the training. Some people want to start at Level 3 but I think Level 2 gives you good background reading and better to start there and achieve as it then gives you more confidence. I am not sure that I would advise anyone to go into teaching now. Being a TA first gives you lots of avenues you can take and if you want to go into teaching from there it is easier now as you can have more pathways while still working.Having said that I have a friend who did that then did supply teaching and can't get a job. I think she would be brilliant and she had good references but she didn't even get an interview at the school she had bent over backwards to help and had worked there for 6 months. She went and got a job with Barnados- they nearly bit her hand off and she does all sorts of things and loves it.

Ta Da
cleaned the rest of the car out and went back over some bits.
made DH a naice lunch
pulled some weeds
WASHED the kitchen floor.DH has been doing it lately.

It is almost too hot out here. Well to work.

Jig I just like the name Willow.

Lane That is brilliant.Smile

Fluffiest · 24/04/2020 19:30

lane congrats on doing paid work!

We've had another garden day, didn't even bother going to the park, it was just too hot. DH and DD are already starting to tan. I am an ever so slightly darker shade of pale on my nose. Grin

Ta da
☀️ lol
☀️ weeded 1 flowerbed, abandoned a second one because I was too exposed to nettles in my shorts.
☀️ damp dusted bedroom
☀️ moved some plants in a shady rather bare flowerbed that needs more ground cover (so then I can do less weeding)
☀️ gave DD a very long bubble bath this afternoon.
☀️ read my book for half an hour in peace, in the sunshine whilst DH entertained DS. It was bliss!

Dream job - a writer. With a cosy little study where I would write my critically acclaimed novels, and with a lazy aged old English Sheepdog named Rufus who would sit at my feet and then come with me for long walks in the wood when I need inspiration.

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 24/04/2020 20:12

Fluffiest 😂😂 at "darker shade of pale". I am a proper Celt and Can't Do Sunshine, but my DSis spends 10 minutes in the garden in late February at dusk and looks like she's been in the Med for a month!

Bower and anyone else, by all means stick with calling me Willow. I just wanted to namechange because I felt a bit exposed. If I'd had any sense I'd have done SC's trick of keeping the initials, but thinking of anything else to fit IWWTGW proved too troublesome 😁

IWouldWantToGoWassailing? Might bring that one back at Christmas!

IWillWearilyTryGreatWines? (That's a lie. First in the queue!).

InWinterWearThickGreenWellies?

Ok, this could actually work. Will stick with Jig pro tem while I choose!

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 24/04/2020 20:13

Oh. And apparently the namechange doesn't hold across devices 🤦🏻‍♀️

HungryHazelEyes · 24/04/2020 22:47

Ta Das;

🦋 Shopping at Costco(spent way too much but shouldn't have to go back for a couple of months)

🦋 Put everything away (including tp that they had at Costco)

🦋 Had lunch and cleared away everything.

🦋 Cooked some oven fries for DC as ran out of room in the freezer!

🦋 2nd LOL in washer.

🦋 DW rotated and turned on.

🦋 S&S.
🦋 Took some random towels out of a cupboard in the bathroom to make room for tp, they will get washed (top shelf, not used in years!) Another towel, pillow cases and curtains put with other stuff for charity shop. I now have 2 boxes of stuff to go and nowhere open to take them 🥴

Did anybody hear from zoo I'm really worried about her!

willow it'll be hard to change what I call you- I would still have willow in it but that's just me!

Hello everyone else 👋

ExpletiveDelighted · 24/04/2020 22:57

Willow - in a previous incarnation I used to switch i to l or 1 and o to 0 in my name periodically to make it harder to search me. Plus seasonal name changes. I forgot to do an Easter one this year. I'm considering a change, a bit bored with ED now. I liked my old name better.

Tada!
About an hour of work
1x laundry
Lots of gardening
Baked bread and cake
Swept kitchen floor
Cooked dinner
Paid a bill and checked bank statements
Amazon order
Hotspotted kitchen counter
Yoga class
Helped DS put up tent in garden, he's doing a virtual Scout camp.

Dream job. Hmm. I would like to be a jeweller, I did an evening class in silver work once and loved it. But I'd want to be in a workshop / shop with other people, I like having colleagues to chat to. Maybe in one of those craft villages.

Bowerbird5 · 24/04/2020 23:37

I think I had my dream job when I was training for stud management with horses. I absolutely loved that job we worked bloody hard 12plus hours in summer sometimes 16 hrs then up early next morning. I loved going to the shows.
My other dream job was being a mum. I loved being at home with my kids, the walks and picnic, the toast in front of the fire all squeezing on the sofa to watch a film in the winter time. The holidays 🏕 camping especially in France. When we lived in Scotland by the sea and we could go to the beach every day in summer. I have photos of myself as a baby on that beach and then the three boys were there. Most days it was the best job in the world.

HungryHazelEyes · 25/04/2020 05:15

I forgot about today's question- my dream would be to own my own bakery/sweet shop. I have tried selling my goodies, had some success, but not many people want to pay for good quality homemade goodies. I really wasn't making much, in fact, was losing money so decided to get a 2nd job instead.

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 25/04/2020 06:18

Zoo didnt reply to my pm. Also worried about her Sad

Well done on the work Lane

Dream job. I work in early years. I love the job. I dislike the people. Dream job would be a setting that does not revolve around making profit and public image.

KTCluck · 25/04/2020 07:32

Morning.

2 shifts down. No ta Das. DH has kept things ticking over nicely though. I have 3 days off now as it’s DD’s birthday on Monday. Home bleurgh today.

KCC:

▪️breakfast at work is usually overnight oats. At home toast or cereal. I could quite happy eat a full English every day though!

▪️I love the job I’m in (NHS) but I’d also love to be a writer. I have dreams about running a 5 star B and B although I am aware that would be much harder work than it is in my daydreams.

Like the new name Jig. Or you could be Megiddo I like the sound of Megiddo and the Megahound.

Hope you’re feeling a bit better again Lane, and the editing goes well. It’ll be good for you to have a project in lockdown.

Zoo hope all is well!

SC it sounds like you all have a good routine cracked there. Shame about your new job role being on hold for now.

Waves to That, Expletive, Bower, Hazel, Lisette, We3, Give, Stressy, Foxes, Cineraria, Chic, Fluffy. Hope I’ve included everyone but extra waves if not 🙋‍♀️

LaneBoy · 25/04/2020 07:54

We could call you Meg, or perhaps TheArtistFormerlyKnownAsWillow Hmm Blush

Have sent a FB message to zoo

Thanks for the thoughts on work :) I’m really pleased about it. Today I need to go back over what I typed and check/tidy etc and then we are doing a bit more tomorrow. Then print and send. That’ll then be it until the next bit is ready.

Living room is a mess, but it’s progress - we’ve virtually emptied one of the 4x4 Kallax units with the aim of cleaning it and getting it upstairs (apparently it’s very easy to dismantle it?!) over the weekend. The stuff from it is in the hallway/stuffed into the other units, with the best of the board games in DD1’s room (where, incidentally, DS also slept - they insisted on building a tent and having a sleepover! They’re much closer again during lockdown ❤️). We managed to find a couple more bits for the psychiatric hospital too (they are keen to have some games but we found some unused colouring books too). No idea how we will then arrange the shelves in the living room. TBH we could probably do with getting rid of more books anyway. And we really really really need to organise the home ed stuff properly and keep it that way 😳😳😳
