Festive fledglings flying through December - the Flylady thread

Welcome to the December (dare I say the Christmas?!) Flylady thread. This is a really lovely thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise not to as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

Any newbies are very welcome Smile.

**
Flylady also does Christmas missions which I will link to each day. They are really useful and nearer the time she does super missions which help you if you have not managed the regular missions. They are just there to help and as Flylady says... do not worry as you do not need to catch up, just jump in where you are Smile.

Link to the holiday cruising is

here

December’s habit is usually [[http://www.flylady.net/d/habits-of-the-month/december/
pampering yourself]] which is much needed this busy time of year. This can be as simple as taking two minutes to have a cup of tea, if long pampering sessions are unachievable.

The website will update to the December missions etc in the next few days so I will link it again if it is different.

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time!

daily focus

missions for the week

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Please note that while there is lots of information on the website, from a security point of view we would advise caution with putting any personal details in or downloading anything.

Also a huge thank you to Ghoulette for the November thread.

KT thank you! It is a lovely time out that we look forward to every year. I feel like I've been productive today so far. I sent off my package, went grocery shopping, got roast in the slow cooker and at work by 11am. Its almost 1pm here, on my break for a few minutes. Its super busy, but so far no rude customers!

ChristmasCroissant · 14/12/2019 21:34

One more busy day and then I think we are more or less back to normal for the last school week. I will attempt to catch up on the thread later.

TooStressyTooMessy · 14/12/2019 22:24

Well I caught up reading from page 10. Everyone has been busy and somewhat stressed.🥞🥞🥐🥐🥐🥐🍉🍉🍉🍎🍏🍎🍏🍐🥭🍓🍌🍌🍌🍓🍒🍑🍒🍑🥝🥭🥯☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️🥛leaving to sustain all for today. Have some breakfast or you may wither.

Laputa lovely photos of dad you must feel very proud about ballet and school.

zoo amazing list for a Sunday morn see you’ve been up since dark. I’m about to get up. Mads are knocking me out. I was up late too.

Ta da

I thinking I have finished writing my cards. I have done all the church ones I think so will take those today( can’t believe that organised as usually Christmas Eve) and no Choir today so will use that time or some tidying as still haven’t found dining table. I have wrapped all the gifts we have bought. Still have a few things to get. Planning a trip to Boots and one to Lakeland for smellies and food stuff then I think we are done.

Right going to clean , organise and put away stamping stuff. Then organise table into groups of stuff and hopefully put it away. I enjoyed making cards but it does take ages. Pleased with the results and BF loved hers. I took her out for lunch locally for a change of scene. She is really not well and was exhausted after about 1 1/2 hrs mainly sitting but had a look around the shop next to it. Sent her home and told her to go to bed. She is worried about her clients too. She runs a home care business mainly elderly people but a few younger ones with MH that she supports. She does most of it herself with a couple of self employed that support those that need getting up/putting to bed etc.
Will pop back later. Remember to pamper ...mine is to soak my feet today.

Bowerbird5 · 15/12/2019 09:57

Table looks lovely zoo. Very impressed with DS’s artwork.

Bowerbird5 · 15/12/2019 09:59

Just remembered DH said he will get tree down today. Sitting room clean and tidy. So is kitchen.

TooStressyTooMessy · 15/12/2019 10:56

Morning all. Thanks for lovely treats Bower! I can add bacon sandwiches.

Good luck prepping for DP’s sister zoo. Yay for your DS!

Oh no foxes, hope your day improves.

Thanks so much again for good thoughts. So far things are ok. Parents have come to our house and we are now on the way to our Christmas Day out (in separate cars so can relax for a bit as DH driving Xmas Smile). All civil so far (although our style is more simmering passive aggression than outright rows Grin) but so far none of that.

Will see what the rest of the day brings. Running half an hour behind schedule but that is because we all had a bacon sandwich at home so I think that is fair enough as nobody wants to start a ‘fun’ family day out hungry Grin.

It really does make a difference to know you lovely lot are thinking of me so thank you Flowers.

Lovely table Zoo and well done to ds and dd2 for surviving Christmas gathering.

Hang in there Toostressy hope the day continues to go well!

Brew Foxes

Waves to Bower and everyone else.

Sorry to be such a wet sausage. Things are not going too well here. DH is driving me mad tbh but it could be oestrogen withdrawal sensitivity on my part! He has a bad back too which can't be pleasant for him. I have awful joint pain and we are rubbing one another up the wrong way I think.

Sorry to be so moany. I really love Christmas generally. Not feeling it (yet!) this year. Just feel teary and flat for no good reason whatsoever! Need to snap out of it!

On the positive front: it is lovely and sunny here (tries to look past windows that need cleaning). Yes, that could be a metaphor ... Grin

Smile Waves to all!

ShamblyChristmas · 15/12/2019 12:02

Sorry your bf still not well Bower

IVEgotthetinselBITCHES · 15/12/2019 14:09

I am just starting to be able to function past the blur of flu. My arse has been kicked for weeks and everything just stopped. My man child is a cock, he has been told this and we havent spoken in days. I hate him. Being so poorly has highlighted he gives zero fucks about the rest of us. Not once has he checked i am ok. Anyway. Shit happens. Hes a dick and he needs to fuck off. But first, Christmas.

Love your table zoo

Good luck today stressy

Sorry ds gave you a scare foxes, only ever lost one of mine (but lost her more than once)

Sorry you feel crap too sc

Have fun with your tree bower 🎄

Waves to everyone else

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 15/12/2019 14:44

I'VE, SC, sorry you feel crap and people are not being supportive. Stressy, hope you are getting through the day. Zoo, brilliant rap, made me smile. Tinsel, KT, Chic, Castle, Marvelous, Laputa and anyone I've forgotten, cheery wingflaps. We get there in the end.

Got through Friday in one piece. DS1 is home and it's lovely to have all my chicks back in the nest, so to speak. Managed last shopping with DH yesterday and think we are pretty much done bar fresh veg on the 23rd.

Still managing gentle flying at "normal" level (including DS1 and his performing washing - it all but leapt out of the bag at me!), DW on regular rotations, bathrooms S&S, beds made, floors swept. Got the last 2 family Christmas cards out this morning and a difficult local one delivered (old friend. Very close when we were 16-18 but hard work 30 years on when he expects me to be the same as I was then). DH is now doing a Star Wars Marathon with DC2, 3 and 4 so I can spend an afternoon off with my sewing and sorting lego (again).

Nearly there, happy flying all!

ShamblyChristmas · 15/12/2019 15:40

Aw that is awful I've (a) that you have been ill all of this time and (b) that your "d" p/h has been so unsupportive. What does he think he is doing? (Is his dad the same?) Take it steady and don't go and wear yourself out and get ill again. You can only do what you can do Flowers Did you manage to get an extension on your essay?

Aw lovely all chicks back Willow and congrats: re cards! You sound very organised indeed!

I've been cheered up by a lovely e-mail from my god-daughter thanking me for her birthday parcel, and another very thoughtful e-mail from a friend with an article about menopausal joint pain. Much better than the usual crapola in my in-box!

ShamblyChristmas · 15/12/2019 16:43

Thanks for kind words. I'm muddling through today! [Would like to speed up but don't seem to be able to atm]. DD is bored and aimless but she doesn't want to help with any of the things I suggest!

Like Toostressy I find all the support on this thread really terrific (especially at this stressful time of year) although I appreciate I have a lot less to be stressed about than many on here!

ShamblyChristmas · 15/12/2019 16:44

Speaking of support, Laputa how yooo doin' (said in Joey NY accent)?

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/12/2019 17:14

SC I get achy joints some days.absolute awful, nothing can describe how in ncomfortable it is(and how old it makes me feel) I cry at everything these days.bloody hormones, can't live with them(PMS) cant like without them either!!

I've remind yourself you have your beautiful kids.other than that he is useless
I don't waste time hating him, indifference has set in and I'm not fussed either way,nor do I bother if he's around or not.it is what it is and I do what I need to for my children.we are close, and that's all that matters to me
Have kids been poorly too?

Saw his sister, nice walk round garden centre.she gave zoolets £5 each, and they got various bits at the works

Thanks for the kind words Flowers

The dc have all been under the weather too but mainly just with coughs and colds. Luckily the baby only had a very slight cough. Touch wood.

Today i have actually managed to go to the shops for basics and almost caught up on mine and the dcs washing. Fuck face can sort his own clothes out.

TooStressyTooMessy · 15/12/2019 19:12

Ive FlowersBrew and a virtual hug (I am a reluctant hugger most of the time but you sound as if you need one).

Glad you are enjoying having DS1 back Willow and well done on difficult Christmas card delivery.

Totally agree SC, this thread is so supportive, like a warm blanket Xmas Smile.

Glad visit went ok zoo and good luck to your DD for tomorrow.

So amazingly my parents’ visit went ok!

OP posts:
TooStressyTooMessy · 15/12/2019 19:24

They didn’t stay very long as they thought traffic would be bad for getting back (they were right) but amazingly everyone behaved themselves! It was a little strained but such is life and actually DH made a massive effort and so did my parents. The place we went to was so lovely and Christmassy (I should hope so, it was ££!) and I feel quite festive now. Even when getting lunch was tricky and we had to sit in a busy cafe (possibly having to sit outside in the biting cold at one point) and DDs started to play up there was minimal fussing and almost no passive aggressive looks or comments).

I am under no illusions that things are perfect and it was no doubt helped by being a very short visit. So on the one hand it is sad it has to be that way and I’m sure they will have spent the car journey back discussing our faults as parents. But also hopefully how much they enjoyed the day. So pleased though that everyone made a massive effort to behave nicely.

Takeaway pizza in PJs has just tasted bloody brilliant. DDs starting to play up now but it is nearly bedtime.

Xmas Grin
